Been follwoing Pakistan cricket since 2003 and pretty much watched every pakistan game since then. Would slip out of school, college and even miss seminars to watch Pakistan game, would be even awake till 6 am in the morning when we would play against New Zeland, Australia when i will be starting work at 8:30 am. I know I shouldn't have done that. But, such was the love for cricket.

Fast foward misbah comes along as askipper. I would still follow the team with passion and still sacrifice my time. But, I belive it was the darkest era of our cricket with the likes of club cricketers or Misbah friends making it into the team just to name a couple Mohammed Salman, Asad Ali. The batting line up was full of awful limited batsmens while attacking batsmens like Umar akmal, Shoaib Maqsood (not a fan of any) were used as sloggers by him. Haris sohail made his debut and was made to bat at7 and even once I recall Sohail Tanvir was promoted above him. Off course dropped.

There was nothing to really look forward to when he was the captain no flare, no young players being tried. All oldies who were past it were the order of the day as Misbah clearly seemed allergic to youngsters evident by benching Umer Amin and Babar in PSL. When he retired from ODI after the 2015 World cup this guy gifted us Azhar Ali who he wouldn't even play the team!!! I started losing interest but still wouldn't miss a game. Thankfully he finally retired our cricket at least with young players coming through looked a bit more watchable with the likes of Babar, Shaheen etc.

Now when things finally started looking on the up PCB decides to ruin eveything by making him the selector as well as a coach. Guess what he does he calls back Imran, Iftikhar, etc and guess the last time they played he was the skipper. To top it off he makes Azhar Ali the captain a guy doesn't even deserve a spot in the team.

17 years of following Pakistan cricket nothing stopped me from follwoing Pakistan cricket. But it has now come to a stage to say goodbye to the game and not to waste my time watching misbah's team. This will be my final thread in which i will post only for today and will call it a day in my PP career.

Thank You misbah for saving my time and making me lose interest in our cricket.

Not to forget Misbah turned back to Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal immediately until they both got ridiculed and embarrassed at home in front of everyone's eyes.

You’re not alone and there are many posters who can empathise with you. The only exceptions being are Misbah’s blind followers ofc.

I don’t think you should call it a day though because Misbah won’t be around forever.

I have missed so many on purpose otherwise it would have been a long long post.

I agree. I am not going to watch any game till misbah is around though misbah is even more dangerous when he leaves i.e Azhar odi captain. So we can potentially be suffering because of him for another decade. Not sure I will be be interested in near future.

Simple. Watch it for Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah then. You will miss an opportunity and most probably won't see a batsman like Babar Azam playing for Pakistan again in the near future. It takes a while to produce batsman like Babar or Kohli. :inti

Up and downs are common, thing will change.

Like Veeru bhai said watch it for Babar Azam and other youngsters.

The last few years have made it difficult to be attached to the team. I understand where the OP is coming from. Misbah is not making me enjoy watching Pakistan right now. Other than Babar and Shaheen I don't see anything exciting as well .

Pakistan cricket is in a miserable situation right now.

Misbah is an easy target now but there is more to this than just one individual.

Agree it was same when Misbah was not around, many deserving candidates were sidelined Asim Kamal to name one,and many more not even given opportunity. What happened after Misbah retired and was not in management either?
I am no fan of Misbah but as MIG our system is flawed, and ill disciplined, and Pakistani cricketers lack organisation, motivation and fitness. We only win because of brilliance of our stars, hardly ever as a cohesive team with good plans.

Trust me it's not that. It's because I believe for the first time Pakistan has appointed an individual with dual powers, as Head Coach and Chief Selector. This means there is more burden of responsibility that falls on Misbah's shoulders, so relative to his predecessors he is far more accountable for the results produced by the Pakistan side. If you cannot deliver you have to face the music because there is no running away from it.

Having said that, Misbah doesn't help himself either given his history, stemming from the 2011 Mohali innings and the way he went about ousting Mickey Arthur last year.

See this is the problem of critics and fans they just go on,For the last 4 days I believe the same discussion is going on i.e bashing.
Its ok to bash someone but there must be a limit for that.

To correct many posters here, Misbah is not easy target, Misbah is the only target! He clearly knew he had no chance in hell to do justice.

I'm also thinking of not following Pakistan cricket for a while. What I'm about to say is going to be controversial for sure...but it is my opinion.

Religion seems to be being forced upon players in the team since this new management has taken over. I have watched every Shan Masood innings and he has never performed Sajda after scoring a 100 until now. It seemed he was reluctant to do it and someone from the Pakistan camp or Shadab who was next to him told him to do so.

This is not a healthy environment and reminds me of the Inzi era all over again.

No idea what religion has got to do with this thread - please stay on topic.

The thread is about Misbah's impact on the team's affairs and thus forcing loyal fans to stop following Pakistan cricket. I have been a huge Misbah fan in the past but recent turn of events is also causing me to rethink following Pakistan cricket any more.

The OP is correct about Misbah bringing his friends into the team. Sometimes it worked well...like in Saeed Ajmal's case...sometimes it didn't like Iftikhar chacha has failed to make an impact at the test level.

You may not understand religion, but it is a good thing for players to have a belief, understand how to stuggle and unite together. Inzi days we use to be a strong team, but its not necessary anything to do with religion or lack of it.

I can totally relate. I have followed our team passionately since I can remember and now I am on the verge of finally putting an end to this obsession thanks to Misbah.

After almost a decade of torture under Misbah, I was excited at the prospect of this new crop of talented players developing under Mickey or some other professional coach. Little did I knew that this man will come back with vengeance.

We may even manage to win a test in this ongoing series but the damage this man is doing will be felt years from now. Deserving players who should have debuted by now are nowhere in the picture. Just look at how Saad Ali who was in the squad on our last tour to England has been sidelined to accommodate Misbah's buddies. This trend will continue until we acquire true minnow status.

There is no doubt Pakistan team have regressed under Misbah. If Pakistan get whitewashed against England, I think it is time to change the head coach.

Tbh these youngsters are only worth watching anyway. I will most likely turn on to watch babar bat and turn it off as soon as he goes. That's what pretty much what my brother does from some time. Taking nothing to the heart I have followed enough.

We are developing the nucleus of a decent team. We are never going to be world beaters because quite simply we don't have the depth of quality needed to win consistently. I think Misbahs biggest error is his innate defensiveness which was also a big part of his batting. This means that we pick the easy route, and select old, out of form, poor players.

Misbah deserves all the abuse and more. Took a rapidly rising team to the depths of despair. This is what happens when your first stint as coach is as head coach of the national team.

Pakistanis got duped by Wasim Khan's British accent and took him for an intellectual.

This is not the proper thread to have this discussion. But all I will say is... religion is good but religion is also personal. It should never be enforced on you. There is no religion enforced on the English team or the Aussie or Indian team yet they are all much stronger teams than Pakistan.

Anyway like the Mod said, let's leave religion out of this thread.

If you are a true pak passion member and pakistan fan, then no matter how bad things get and how much you may dislike a coach, selector , captain or even 9 out of 11 players, you wont give up supporting and watching your team play. Hang in there. Coaches willchange, captain will change, players will change.

Inshallah things will get better.

I used to be a passionate fan like you of this team. Crying actual tears when we lost World Cups. Now a days I don’t care anymore. In fact I support the opposition team over our team. Don’t get me wrong I do got my favorites but they are under the same roof as the dude that takes the oxygen out of the team.
