For Sarfraz, the advantage of having Hafeez in the team is that no one will question Sarfraz's place in the team after. 2 years of mediocre individual performances -- because he will get overshadowed by someone who has been there and done it for over 10 years so just 2 years of mediocrity is a walk in the park.

Imad and Nawaz are in the same category.

Both are decent bowlers when the conditions suit them (with Nawaz slightly better).

But are mediocre batsman who can occasionally play a good innings (with Imad slightly better).

So leaving either out for the other isnt a travesty really. Ideally both should be dropped as Hafeez will play due to his "experience" and Shadab being the other spin bowling allrounder.

Need to play an extra batsman instead.

Don't think Sarfraz has any say in selection and he is just another yes man of PCB like Azhar Ali. Micky has to put up otherwise he will be fired soon.

Hafeez should never open for Pakistan. His best has come as a middle-order/lower middle-order batter recently. Sahibzada Farhan deserves a go now in place of either Hafeez or Talat
