If not for him, Pak would have probably still been playing in England as their neutral venue. It is solely because of him and him alone that Pak had to make UAE their neutral venue.

Playing in the UAE has had so many detrimental effects on our Test players.
England would have been the perfect fit for our team but we have had to break our back on pitches we have no control over.

He was the brother in law of the defense minister at the time. The defense minister was well established toady of the party in government at the time.
Pakistan has had its share of buffoons, what differentiated Butt was that he was a most dangerous buffoon. If you were of a conspiratorial mindset you could argue that he was a bccci plant sent to destroy Pakistan cricket.

That makes a lot of sense. I do applaud him for giving the armband to Misbah way back in 2010 though. That was a stroke of genius.

To some, he was the best chairman we ever had.
For me - the fact that he did not resign after the Sri Lanka attack is simply something which is unforgiveable.
I understand that the arrangements for security were for the PPP Govt to check but he should have resigned as a matter of principle.

nope. It was rehman Maliks responsibility, and Rehman Malik should had resigned.
Security was never Ijazz Butts or PCBs responsibility. Interior minister looks after the security.
He was not as bad as some people made him to be. It was the media propaganda against him. He took stern decisions and media was helpless against him. He removed the player power that toxic guys like Younis Khan enjoyed. He didnt tolerate the players stupidity. If Umar Akmal and some other player was giving stupid opinions they were given a notice. Players were kept in line. Mohammad Amir would had never played PSL had Butt been the chairman today.
It was a masterstroke by the guy to give the captaincy to Misbah
