Afridi?

Looks like Mr. Sethi is not aware of the fact that Afridi has only played 1 Test in the last 10 years.

The boys will now continue to play for next 5-6 years based on that one flash in the pan CT win. :srini

The only vacuum pertaining to Afridi is the giant hole he left Pakistan in every time he got out for 7 (5).

To be fair, he probably scored a little more than 7 in 5 deliveries.

He is fully aware. That is the whole point. Even after 10 years since afridi's retirement, the vacuum left by him is too much to fill.

I doubled face palmed after that tweet..Do these morons not know the difference between ODI cricket and Test cricket? yes we have faith hence why we're on PP but please dont insult our intelligence Sethi sahib.

Come on dude, don't be a hater. Facts are facts.

The boys, ie Shan Masood, Sami Aslam Asad Shafiq, Yair Shah, Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Abbas DID win us the CT, didn't they. They are just a bit tired from all the winning.

Hmm a scent of sarcasm

indeed. the tiger blood isn't flowing through properly.

(I like Abbas by the way and think he's a better bowler than the stick he's getting no here)

This guy is never was fit for a chairman roll.He mentioned Afridi!!!! PCB had weirdest of chairmans in last one decade.

Afridi?

He probably meant in general in terms of being a mentor or advisor type of thing...

Sethi saab if you hadn't insisted on your World XI vanity project we might have had more than a meagre 5 day training camp to prepare for this Sri Lanka Test series.

1. Winning a tournament with ALL the teams in world cricket, and dominating the final by 180 runs is more than a 'flash in the pan'

2. Hafeez wasn't selected in the test series, Wahab and Azhar haven't been selected in the ODI series. So I don't know how you can say all of these players will continue to play for 5-6 years

Rofl did'nt know Afridi left the test side recently.

Can someone ask Mr. Sethi why next Test is in May next year, how horrible is the planning of this chairman and cricket board. On what basis has your chairman of selectors Inzamam ignoring best performers in domestic circuit in favor of his rookie nephew.

Agree with you on all points except last point about Imam. He deserves to be in the team, i know he has been selected for wrong format. Would have liked Sami in ODIs and Imam in Tests. But Imam has also performed in 50 over format, he scored two centuries in U-23 Asia cup and i am right Pakistan lost Against SL in that cup and main reason was that Imam didn't play in final bcz of foot infection. But still he has been selected for wrong format. But if they needed a like for like replacement for Azhar then Imam is the best

Sethi Saab Afridi can always come out of retirement at your request and take pakistan to another level.

The comedic aspect of this situation is that people are making fun of him for mentioning Afridi instead of lamenting him for justifying losing to the #7 ranked Test team at home! And that too with something completely unrelated, the CT - an entirely different format.

Yes because CT was in a Test match format.

Sami, Shan, Shafiq, Babar, Abbas, and Wahab didn't win us no CT.

Just hope that Pakistan dosen't win the 2019 World Cup. Just imagine how long that would be remembered for.

This is just being said in bad taste. I HOPE that we do win the 2019 World Cup. Not just imagine, it will/should be remembered for a long time. It is an achievement nothing wrong with bringing it up or "remembering" it.

Well if we win it then it would be a fluke or just Pakistan catching teams on their bad day.

Can't tell whether you're being sarcastic or not? Or mocking certain posters?

If not, if/when Pakistan win the world cup, like the CT, it will NOT be a fluke or because Pakistan caught other teams on their "bad" day. The bad day came because of us, we made it happen. It's international cricket, no excuses.

I'm tired of people claiming our CT win was a fluke. Need to grow some self-confidence. We won because we were the better team! Any team that wins a prestigious tournament like that is NOT because of a fluke, they deserved it fair and square.

This comment is ridiculous considering that Shan Massod, Sami Aslam, Asad Shafiq, Yasir Shah, Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Abbas waren part of the CT winning team. That's more than half of the Test team.

Success in one area doesn't mean a failure in another is acceptable or even something to be expected.

What professional attitude can be expected from the players when this is the attitude of the higher ups.

The test series wasn't lost because we were missing Misbah or Younis. It was lost because the team management wanted to be stubborn and repeat the same mistakes twice while carrying players who are none failures.

Even west indies won a CT few years back.
But also Pakistan ODI team is far better than test team .Because mainly batsmen need to show temperament far more in tests.Once pakistan gets good batsmen again its test record will improve substantially.

This CT is the new 92 World Cup for us. Will be remembered for the next 3,000 years.

It was better than 1992 world cup. All that crap talking from across the border made it better than 1992 world cup.

Isn't a CT win commendable?

It is, but it is time to move on. When India got blanked in England in the summer of 2011, you didn't see the Indian fans and the media claim that "the boys won the World Cup for you only a few months ago".

Teams who have won World Cups years after us talk about their triumphs less compared to how much we glorify 92 to this day. Thankfully the CT will probably replace it now, but I wonder for how long will its success be milked.

Poor comments.
And now its 'the boys' and after CT win he was seen taking credit himself quite a few times.

As head of PCB please see the pathetic pitches we have in FC. How can you develop world class batsmen playing on such pitches?

Dont think so. It was an achievement but nowhere near the callibre of the 92 world cup. People will forget this in 4-5 years as opposed to 92 where people still think about it

Milking a CT win for 4 5 years ??

We didn't milk the 2011 major world cup win for half that long.

Because of 8-0 loss overseas,if that didn't happen I wouldn't had mind milking it and having moral ground, also in India you are only as good as your last season.
