The Chess Thread

I try to play 35 games of chess (5 games daily on average) weekly.

This week has been pretty weird. Had a 8-match winning streak. After that, I am having a 9-match losing streak. Trying to break that streak now. :inti

Managed to break the losing streak. Alhamdulillah.

Played 29 games this week (29 games, 14 wins, 3 draws, 12 losses). Want to play 6 more games. :inti

Lol I closed the site. I dont really understand lichess as I have played on chess.com

OK. No problem.

I think it auto-resigns after a few days (not sure how many days). :inti

I will make an account on chess.com too in sha Allah.

I prefer Lichess because it is faster and has a very simple interface.

OK. Accepted draw to preserve your rating. :inti

We will play again in sha Allah. I am going to bed.
You are so good lol.

Also that rating isnt accurate btw. When you sign up on chess and choose advance it automatically assigns you 1800 and ive been playing with 1200's.

But damn you are good, it put myself at 1300-1400. You are clearly 1700, good going man.

Very sad to hear the loss of Daniel Naroditsky. He was 29 only.He was a great coach , rapid and blitz player.Quite connected to real world pragmatism than the yester era memories .Doesn't show blind bigotry too.
RIP Daniel

Shocking news to wake up to. Kramnik is still going on though. It can't just be attention-seeking, this guy has either lost it or is onto something (sometimes).

Kramnik is becoming a wild mad dog.Daniel ridiculed kramnik after his Bluetooth remarks in chess olympiad.
So he should be investigated first.

Heartbreaking to see his last stream, you could tell there was something terribly wrong in his head.

I can't say as April is far away.....let c

Divya Deshmukh won FIDE world cup couple of months ago, how WC happening immediately?
This is open category and starts in a week brother, Divya won women's.

April reference was for when I left the place. ✈️

Just a few days before his passing I saw the video where he plays a strong 2300 player like Anna Cramling and he beat her easily despite being blindfolded !!! Was soo shocked to hear about his passing a few days later. RIP

Chess federation files complaint against ex-world champ who waged smear campaign against late US grandmaster Naroditsky

The International Chess Federation filed a complaint against former World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik for leading a cheating smear campaign against fellow players, including Daniel Naroditsky, who died last month.

The complaint “follows concern in the chess community about repeated public allegations made by Kramnik against Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky and Grandmaster David Navara,” the federation, known as FIDE, said in a statement Tuesday.

The complaint, submitted to the FIDE Ethics & Disciplinary Commission, describes a “pattern of conduct over roughly two years” related to possible harassment, the federation’s statement reads.

It will include testimony provided by Czech grandmaster Navara, whom Kramnik, 50, also accused of cheating, and “people close” to Naroditsky, the statement said.

“FIDE has taken this step to ensure that all relevant statements and evidence are examined by an independent disciplinary body and that the process is conducted fairly and with respect for all individuals involved,” the statement said.

Naroditsky’s cause of death has yet to be revealed. However, it is being eyed as a possible suicide or drug overdose, according to a police incident report previously obtained by The Post.

The 29-year-old American grandmaster was found unconscious on a couch at his home in the southern suburbs of Charlotte by the founder of his chess club, a spokesperson for the club previously told NBC News.

Naroditsky faced repeated attacks by Kramnik, a Russian grandmaster, who accused him of cheating in online games in the months leading up to his death.

Kramnik insinuated that his rival was rigging the system, even using footage of Naroditsky’s online games to claim that he was looking at a second screen with a sophisticated computer program that could calculate millions of chess moves a second.

He even launched a GoFundMe to crowdfund his unspecified goal of “trying to clean modern chess from cheating.”

The prodigy’s grieving mother, Elena, also described the mental anguish that the cheating allegations had on her son.

“There was nothing more important to Daniel than his dignity and his name as a chess player. And the ex-world champion was trying to say he was a cheater,” she told the Daily Mail.

In his last livestream before his death, Naroditsky also said that Kramnik’s allegations had taken a toll on him.

“Ever since the Kramnik stuff, I feel like if I start doing well, people assume the worst of intentions. The issue is just the lingering effect of it,” Naroditsky said.

According to anti-cheating laws, the federation can sanction a player who makes unfounded accusations of cheating based on emotions or insufficient data.

Substantial evidence is required to launch a cheating investigation. There are no such documented reports investigating Naroditsky.

Other chess grandmasters, including Hikaru Nakamura and Nihal Sarin, have blasted Kramnik for leveling the allegations, claiming the world champ had harassed Naroditsky.

Naroditsky had earned the Grandmaster title at just 18 years old.

Uzbek GM Javokhir Sindarov, wins FIDE WC 2025 to become the youngest ever to win WC.

Expecting Sindarov and Andrey Esipenko to do well in Candidates also.

Magnus Carlsen wins World Rapid and World Blitz championship 2025.

In era of modern chess, it is highly unlikely anyone will replicate level of dominance Magnus has over last 15 years.

I think Magnus is the greatest chess player of all time.

Want Fabi to take it, probably his last shot at the championship and he deserves it more than anyone.

Fabi deserves, is everyone's favorite and is also most likely to win, although predictor model says Hikaru at 40% odds. But ghosts of past is a real thing.

My top 3 are Sindarov, Fabi and We yei.

Also Grenke chess festival will be in first week of April boasting strong field of players like Magnus, Abdulsatarov and Keymer. April will be fantastic for chess fans.

Chesscom is a known suckup for fan-favs Magnus, Hikaru and even Nepo when he was relevant.

Hikaru is strong, but that 40% joke was another effort to please their fav platform streamer.

Pragg got it with an insane opening that no one ever played in candidates. Ur fabi won too.hikaru blundered the equal position.
Sindarov pulled it off from a losing position, this kid is definitely the dark horse here. Witnessed his run in Goa, he is very exciting.

And now he has pulled off from pack with 1 point lead after defeating Fabiano. Man on a mission.

He has already downed two favorites in Pragg and Fabi. Many more rounds to go, but he seems to be running away with it right now.

Also, for all the hate Kramnik gets (deservingly so), the guy has worked wonders with Indian/Uzbek kids and even Hans Neiman. Anything he takes as a long term assignment is turning into gold.

Its a shame he isn't here, but what a wonderful interview of Nodirbek on Candidates. Predicted Sindarov success, didn't hold back about Gukesh, and didn't suck up to Hikaru calling his recent play low quality. All that while keeping everything so classy and objective. Very Magnus like the way he handles questions.

Every match today is important more than earlier rounds. Specially Hikaru vs Sindarov is super important for all players. If Sindarov wins today, catching him up will be very tough.

Fischer-esque

In his current form, by the end of Candidates tournament Sindarov will become world #2.

Vaishali in the second place. Let's hope for a good second round for her to achieve the leader post.

Congratulations Vaishali Rameshbabu wins FIDE women Candidates 2026. Gukesh is already World Champion.

1st time 2 Indians will play FIDE world chess Championship

Vaishali winning the candidates is the best thing for Indian women's chess future. It will give lots of opportunities and encouragement to the young aspirants.Congrats Vaishali.

@Hikaru let's hope for atleast one championship.

Hoping for the same. I am specially optimistic about Gukesh's chances too. Better Sindarov than Caruana, even in his current form.
