Imam speaking at the end of the first day's play against Kent.

"It was difficult to be honest, the conditions were really favouring the bowlers as but we were working really hard".

"We had really good sessions in the last two days and I was trying to adapt to the conditions as quickly as I can and was trying to have a positive intent which really helped me".

When asked if he has played much in England before?

"Yeah, I've been there a couple of times before with the Under 19 team so I have had a couple of experiences over here and a 100 as well but the conditions are difficult, it's different, but we are here just to win games and we will try our level best to do something very good".

They may well be but getting bowled out for such a low score is never good!

He can be a decent test batsmen. Not sure about LO but for tests I would give him a run. Can't believe some PP experts were writing him off .

It was still a Division Two, second string county attack.

Imam was the only bright spark today. The rest need to sharpen up quick, especially the two seniors Azhar and Shafiq. Younis and Misbah aren't there to babysit anymore, time to take responsibility.

I was very disappointed with Azhar & Sarfraz today, I at least expected them to step up.

Hasan was pretty bright too. Some lusty lower order hitting and got the only wicket for Pak.

What did people expect really? I mentioned earlier in another thread that Pakistan might drop a test to Ireland. Most of these players are playing in England for the first time, specially in these damp conditions.

England might shoot us out for totals below 100 tbh.

Well guys i think ireland will give even tougher time than english team, as they will be new to the format and they will be eager to kick start the career with a win.

Good luck to pakistan :)

His son played well...

but his friends (Asad Shafiq and Sami Aslam) didn’t!! That’s Inzi for ya!!! Good luck for the next few weeks betaa!

:shafiq

Thou shalt score one dozen runs in the coming four innings and becometh hero of Pakistan!!

Very poor performance against a second string county attack after being well set at 111/3 to 168 all out is totally unacceptable.

I have been saying this since sarfraz made captain for tests as he didn’t deserve to be ahead of Azhar who has dominated the format to be the best opener just before sarfraz was made captain.

Wrong choice to make a newbie (Azhar) as ODI captain but certainly not a newbie but a well seasoned prime performer to get the test crown of captaincy. Sarfraz on merit doesn’t deserve to be an automatic choice in tests.

Let’s see how many games does sarfraz go with a free run for captaincy. I believe this tour and next home series will decide his future as test captain. If he doesn’t meet the expectations as a WK batsman then will see.

Conditions are diffrent in the morning compared to afternoon. Today we are bowling in the morning session and we will take wickets. The ball swings better in the morning.
Morning session is about staying at the wicket.

Can usman and saad bat in 2nd innings? Are they allowed to used bench players in practice matches?

Why is there no mention of Babar Azam, the test batsman? He needs to score at 40+ average here if he wants to get a justified extended run. I fully expect apologists to come up with excuses such as "it was a difficult tour" and "the highest scorer had an average of 30". If you are in the big leagues, act like a man or move out!
