How will cricket fans remember India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win?

It probably will be spoken of with a bit of reservation and even though it's hard for the Indian fans to admit, it does take the shine of their win a bit. It's almost certain that no one will speak of the win without mentioning this fact in the future. But as the hosts and as a nation that played in the UAE for nearly a decade, it's not for PCB or Pakistan to judge.

Judging from some replies in this thread, it looks like some Indian cricket fans also recognise that it looks wrong they won by playing on one surface throughout the tournament and probably that's why some flock to threads like this hoping to seek validation from Pak cricket fans and get enraged when they don't get it.
 
It would've meant more if you accomplished it in Pakistan. Everyone knows this was hollow and by far the worst ICC event ever. India had the next best thing to home advantage in UAE.

It's a real shame because India has the best team and Kohli has so many fans in Pakistan. Him, Rohit et al have been starved of the opportunity to make history by winning an ICC tournament in Pakistan.

In all the events I mentioned India got solely out of losing to Pakistan.. Obviously you and others don't contest the 2004 and 2017 CT claim but the issue is with CT 2009 where you guys believe you got knocked out because of wash out...but it is too dumb of you to think India was superior to Australia those days as the following series happened in your own HOME right after CT 2009 🥱🥱 And the coffin in the CT 2009 was put by Pakistan as they lost to Australia when winning them would have may given you a chance to progress on run rate.

India still had a chance of qualifying for the CT 2009 SF after they lost to Pakistan. So no... pakistan did not knock us out in anyway..that's not how knocking out a team works. It doesn't matter if you think India would have lost to Australia..that's just woulda coulda shoulda nonsense spouted by delusional idiots.

For example, India nailed the coffin on Pakistan's chances in the 2025 champions trophy by beating them in Dubai...now that is called knocking a team out.

Same for the 2019 world cup where India out the qualification out of Pakistan's reach so much that even winning all their rest of the games couldn't make them qualify for the SF. Now that's a knockout punch...

Indian fans will surely remember this as a huge achievement and it is. Winning back to back ICC events and staying unbeaten is no joke... Nobody cares which team they defeated in the end. it is all about troopy.

You said India got knocked out by Pakistan in 2009 CT when everyone knows that the reason was the game against Australia getting rained off that got us knocked out.

Yes it was a do or die match for Pakistan and you ended up getting nailed. After the NRR bashing you got at the hands of WI , the only way pakistan would have qualified for the SF was by winning 6 games. They did not afford to lose the game against us but still proceeded to lose.

There's a reason why they couldn't make the SF even after winning all the games after losing to India. If that not knocking a team out .then I don't know what is. :ROFLMAO:

Firstly the amount of Indians (minus the usual posters who actually care to be objective) going ballistic is nuts. If I was truly secure in my patriotism - I wouldn't spends hours typing away seeking validation from an enemy people. Just saying.

The top dog in cricket ALWAYS gets criticism. England were for being colonialists, West Indies were called thugs, Australia were bemoaned for sledging. Now it's your turn, it comes with the territory so get over it.

Now no sane person doubts India's white ball teams are stacked and capable of winning tournaments without any inbuilt advantages.

However let's be real - staying in one location for the entire duration of CT25 greatly reduced their margin for error. Tactics and team selections are far less likely to alter than if you're changing from one venue to another.

Fundamentally the reason why people watch sporting tournaments is the jeopardy around the outcome, the drama of not knowing what will happen as teams evolve to changing conditions and scenarios. Once you lose that, why bother watching ?

It's not an India thing, NO team should enjoy such an advantage. Even the home team is obligated to travel around their nation. I feel for India's players because the administrators have put a disclaimer next to their accomplishment when some common sense and planning (hosting rights were agreed in 2021 !) could've avoided this scenario. Replace Pindi where 2 out of 3 games were lost to rain/poor drainage with another UAE venue and there's no controversy here.
