India has won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and cricket fans around the world aren’t surprised—and for good reason. They played all five of their matches in Dubai—same venue, same conditions, no travel, no need to adjust to different pitches like other teams had to. Naturally, that kind of consistency helps, so their win didn’t really come as a shock to anyone.
Plenty of well-known figures in cricket pointed this out:
Michael Atherton: "India playing all their matches in Dubai is an undeniable advantage. They didn’t have to travel between venues or countries like other teams did."
Nasser Hussain: "It is an advantage. They were in one place—one hotel, one dressing room. They knew the pitch, selected smartly for it, and adapted accordingly."
Rassie van der Dussen: "Staying in one place, practicing in the same facilities, and playing on the same pitches is definitely an advantage."
David Miller: "It's only an hour-and-forty-minute flight, but the fact that we had to do that was not ideal. It was early morning, after a game, and we had to fly. Then we got to Dubai at 4:00 PM, and by 7:30 AM, we had to come back. It wasn't like we flew five hours and had enough time to recover and recuperate—it was still not an ideal situation."
Mohammed Shami (India’s own player): "It has definitely helped us. Knowing the conditions and pitch behavior is a plus point when playing at a single venue."
So, how will this win be remembered? A tactical advantage? An unfair edge? Home-like conditions? Or just pure effort?
