Not to mention a supposed all-rounder in Faheem Ashraf. The standard of our fast bowling has never been this dire as it is right now.

Azhar Mahmood and co need to be asked the same questions that were being asked of Grant Flower. Enough is enough.

Bowlers can't/won't bowl yorkers. They can't stick to the basic plan or tactic. The lack of swing/seam.

What exactly does Azhar Mahmood do and what does he teach them?

It'll help if someone like Saj can get a few questions asked by someone at the coaching side.

A coach can do so much. He probably told them to bowl Yorkers but if they can't execute that themselves what is the coach supposed to do?

Azhar is responsible for these atrocious bowling degradations. I mean yorker? Where were they??

Did u see anyone trying? What makes you think they were bowling bouncers?
Obviously azher the genious came up with this, our bowlers are no 90 Miles , should stick with what they are good at.

same things were being said when pak conceded 444 against eng a few years ago. truth be told pak havnt had a consistent stand out quick since shoaib.

bowlers need to work things out for themselves, pak bowled 5 yorkers in 50 overs, which bought a wicket and conceded 4 runs.

also the bowlers are only gonna do so much if the fielders drop sitters and let 20 to 30 runs a game slip through.

i think they need one good performance to get there confidence back, also for all his lack of penetration amirs control has been missed.

Fair enough. Apparently, they didn't even try to bowl a Yorker till the 46th over.

Hasan Ali did bowl better with the new ball. I want to see him bowl with the new ball more often as he was successful in PSL that way.

Hassan and amir should bowl with new ball. Hasnain first change.. Hafeez, imad from the other end. Use Shadab in the death with hasan and Hasnain. That’s how it should be. All other bowlers are crap.

Easy way out to blame Azhar for this. The bowlers didn't execute the plan. Hasnain made the occasional error. Junaid stuck to short of length medium pace. And Hassan didn't get enough yorkers at the end.

Imad kept bowling leg side. Only Hafeez and Malik slowed it up and gave their bowling some thought.

If Hafeez and malik are willing to bowl regularly (and for whatever reasons I know Malik has avoided bowling regularly in the past), they are much much better bowlers than Imad. Imad is such a one trick pony.. round arm flat darts into the righty batsmen with deep leg side field. If a batsman is confident he can clear them, Imad will easily concede 15/16 per over. If someone like Gayle, Kohli, Finch, Warner, Butler etc are batting, they can tear him apart.

At least Hafeez and malik can vary pace, lengths, fight, and actually spin the ball a little.

There can only be two things:

- Either their confidence level is too low and they are scared to bowl full tosses/half volleys;
- Or they just do not want to bowl those tough yorkers as it requires extra effort from the bowler which could lead to injuries etc. Even Gul had to quit bowling yorkers regularly to prolong his career.

Azhar Mahmood is only to blame if it's his bowling plan to only bowl slower ones or slow bouncers. I know that Azhar was a king of the slower deliveries, but that doesn't mean that they do not practice these deliveries.

This is how I see it.

Azhar Mahmood has to be fired. Whatever he’s doing clearly isn’t working.

Azhar Mahmood has been two and a half to three years in the job. Overall performances of the bowlers under his watch has been poor, he has to be held accountable at some point

It's actually a blot on Imad that he hasn't added variety in his bowling in the last 4 years

100% yes 100% pakistani bowlers have played some sort of tape ball cricket, yorkers are the first thing our bowlers learn. Thats how they manage to get into the team...so what happens then???

Because he didn’t need to.. he played on the slow UAE pitches where the ball doesn’t come on to the bat and got to top three world rankings as a bowler using nothing but just that one trick..

Hafeez has a dodge action and a history of repeating this actions to his advantage.

I would rather lose in the World Cup with shadab and Imad bowling cleanly then go far or even win with Hafeez cheating.

Our overrated bowling got exposed big time when we got rid of cheaters like Ajmal and Hafeez, even though the latter played ICC like a fiddle by chucking again after getting caught repeatedly, we will need another CT miracle.

Time to accept that they never had the talent to sustain and continue performing for long.

Agree. Seems like the Indian mentality has reached them as well: start off well and then fade away.

Did we really need another thread blaming Azhar Mahmood for the failure of Pakistan bowlers to do the basics?

Set attacking fields and go for wickets , pitch the ball up more often.
You cant contain the likes of jos, johnny, jason on these surfaces.
Get them or get out

Shaheen has been fantastic for us in the last year or so. He's had a couple of bad games here though. Hasan Ali, though, has been pathetic for a very long time, he had a good PSL which made people forget how bad he's been internationally.

The same bowlers bowl Yorkers at will during PSL. But they start bowling length balls and full tosses when representing Pakistan. It's not the coaching, these guys are just mentally weak and the pressure gets to them... And they crumble.

If you look at how each and every bowler you will notice a pattern. Each of them tried to bowl short in between overs and every time they did, they got smashed except the time Junaid got one caught and ball. Even Junaid had to later pay for his short balls when stokes smashed him for a six in the penultimate over. This clearly shows that whoever is making the bowling plans (the bowling coach) is inept.

Hasan has to open the bowling. That's how you're going to get the best out of him.

Absolutely. No questions about it. Now that Faheem is hopefully out of the picture, therefore there wont be any lame duck hogging the opening bowling spot.

Thank god. It's beyond me how Sarfraz and Mickey thought it was acceptable to open the bowling with Faheem over Hasan, especially after this years PSL.

Nothing but absolute carnage for the bowlers today. Now compare that to how England bowl...
