City will pass it around keeping 80% possession for 70 more minutes, then score a few more at the end when United push.

City did beat watford 6-0 in Cup final here, that something for them to aim for.

United should be thankful its still only just 1-0 at moment

What a ridiculous penalty decision, he was jumping and AWB headed it at him from 10cm away? I'll never understand the handball rules.

It was given because its man united, FA corruption at its finest

That's an awful penalty decision.
Things like this is just spoil the game.

I won't call it cheating, actually I will

I'm utterly gobsmacked.

That decision on a big stage like this beggars belief

Why are people shocked united get these decisions all the time. I bet Howard Webb won't be releasing audio for this.

Games resembling OT game, City 1-0 and dominating, then united luckily got back into game. United will look for City mistakes here

Rodri has been outstanding today, best CDM in league by a distance

Great game, good fight by United at the end tbf.

Manchester City remain on course for the Treble after Ilkay Gundogan scored twice to give them victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Having already won the Premier League title, City now go into next Saturday's Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul with the opportunity to emulate United's feat of 1999.

And City captain Gundogan was the big game match-winner again, assuring his place in history with the quickest goal in FA Cup final history, a stunning volley after only 12 seconds eclipsing Louis Saha's strike for Everton after 25 seconds against Chelsea in 2009.

Manchester United equalised after 33 minutes when the video assistant referee ruled that Jack Grealish had handled, Bruno Fernandes coolly sending Stefan Ortega the wrong way from the spot.

It was Gundogan, as he does so often, who made the decisive contribution when he volleyed Kevin de Bruyne's free-kick past United keeper David de Gea six minutes after the break to give City the FA Cup for the seventh time.

Roy Keane described Ilkay Gundogan’s record-breaking FA Cup final goal as ‘brilliant’ but says three Manchester United stars should have done more to prevent Manchester City’s early strike.

Man City captain Gundogan fired his side ahead with a stunning volley after just 13 seconds – the fastest FA Cup final goal in history.

Gundogan got the all-Manchester FA Cup final underway, passing the ball back to City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

A long punt from Manchester City’s second-choice goalkeeper found Erling Haaland and the ball eventually broke to Gundogan, who unleashed a sensational volley past David de Gea.

It was a dream start to the FA Cup final for Manchester City, who were last month crowned Premier League champions and are bidding to win a historic treble ahead of next week’s Champions League final.

Old Trafford legend Keane praised the ‘brilliant goal’ but was ‘really critical’ of Manchester United midfielders Casemiro, Fred and Christian Eriksen, who he said all ‘switched off’.

‘It’s a brilliant strike, a brilliant goal,’ Keane told ITV Football. ‘But defensively I think United were switched off.

‘I would be really critical of the three midfielders – Casemiro, Fred and Eriksen – they’re all in wrong position and they’ve all made wrong decisions 10 to 12 seconds into a game.

‘Not good enough from experienced players. They were really switched off, it’s poor from Manchester United.’

United are not only trying to block City’s treble bid but also win a second trophy of the season following their EFL Cup triumph at Wembley in February.

And Erik ten Hag’s side equalised before half-time through captain Bruno Fernandes after Jack Grealish was controversially penalised for handball.
