The hypocrisy of New Zealand players is staggering!

I mentioned that because OP clearly mentions that NZ players are hypocrites for playing IPL.

As I said in my other posts, Pakistanis who are blaming BCCI, IPL, and India for this decision are not thinking straight.

This was an act made by the western powers to take a political stance. India, last time I checked, was not a political power and is unlikely to have any sway over New Zealand's government and more so Five Eyes' Intelligence Service.

NZ players are at fault for not disobeying their govt and security establishment as they should have played to entertain Pak fans by putting their lives at stake and if killed then they would have been called martyrs. Pak fans are wishing death for NZ players on twitter with the hope of plane getting crashed.

Exactly. India has no power over 5 eyes intelligence and could not even prevent SL from touring Pakistan let alone NZC and their government

Unless, Pakistan can somehow convince China to take cricket seriously, there are long term consequence of this pullout.

Geo-politics.

Nasty stuff, will get worse.

China can help cricket by building infrastructure and their comapanies sponsoring teams and tournaments in countries they wish to influence.
Not that they are known for solving any of their trading partners domestic issues.

It’s completely understandable for foreigners to not realize that you won’t get blown to smithereens by walking around in Pakistan, but for useless Pakistanis like yourself who might know the ground reality, such comments are uncalled for.

The one thing that riles me, and I’m sure 90% of the Pakistani population, are the apologists like you who have no self-respect for yourself and have this ‘jee huzoori’ mindset for everything.

Some of the Pakistani cricket fans are behaving as if this is the end of the world.

This is indicative of same attitude after every match loss they ask for sacking of coaches or players.

New Zealand as a country was built on the concept of racism, 'white man's entitlement' and the subjugation of the Maori people. The very foundations and roots of New Zealand as a country are racist and that still exists in New Zealand's societal power structures and institutions to this day - regardless of how woke their Prime Minister is.

So hypocrisy is fairly inherent.

Reports state that a NZ player received a death threat a few weeks before departing for the tour to Pakistan. The email was forwarded to NZC's security provider and was proved to be a hoax and not credible.

One wonders how credible the threat was that led to the tour being called off.

Exactly - why are they unwilling to share details of the threat? Probably because they know it wasn't credible and they just wanted to leave to not take a chance on it. That is all understandable but the arrogance and insincerity with which they have handled this whole issue is unacceptable.

I wonder if the same players would have walked away so quickly and with the minimum of fuss if it was during the PSL and their contracts and $$$s were at stake?

Now where are the posters who were saying its on five eyes and goverment , players have no role. Dead bodies all around in IPL and the NZ players were OK with everything.

In IPL they faced a grave threat to their lives. Everyone knew the isolation bubble wont hold due to 4000+ deaths everyday. Still these players were Ok with playing due to $$$. What happened to common sense of determining "escalation " of threat.
Here's what happened. Some player chickened out before the match and threw tantrums on not playing. Others chimed in. Simple

Right here. How does this change anything? In fact i mentioned it earlier.

Blaming the players for this shows a staggering lack of intellect.

Only one player of this touring group has an IPL contract. In fact most of them dont have a NZC contract. Quit spouting rubbish.

You are missing the point. The team is same. Given the response of NZ to Covid, the NZ players played through a graver threat in IPL and didn't heed their government advisory. Here they cancelled over a hoax and completely disregarded the arrangements made.
Characters changed but it's the same team. It's not like if full strength NZ toured they wouldn't do this type of behavior

No players traveled to the IPL as part of the NZ team. They were all on leave from the side and made their own decisions. There was a lot more criticism for the players back here in NZ for that move than whats happening now.

OBL was in Abbottabad and ISI had no clue about it. So one can reach conclusion that ISI capability might be a problem.

Or other hand other logical conclusion is OBL had sympathizers/informers in ISI because of which OBL stayed at bed and breakfast next to a military camp for years safely.
Either ways there is a risk involved in sharing information with such an agency.
Besides the doctor who helped locate OBL , isnt he in jail? So exposing informers and information is a life risk to people who help. Thats why intel was not likely shared nor will be in future.

Now as far what was the intel? Security is fluid thing.
Intel could have come in 15th over or 25th over so they could have left mid game as well.
The Kiwis were correct in calling it off because it came from the GOVT of NZ.. not from just anyone. Pakistani players got a directive from their govt in 2009 not to participate in IPL due to risk concerns and how many of players went against govt orders? None right?
So how is NZ listening to their govt different.

NZ tried to help PCB by agreeing to send a team here after 22 years. But they left when only their life was threatened. So then abuses started flowing in from players as well as fans. What did fans think? that NZ players would say " Lets risk bombs and bullets over our family concerns for PCB, but we have to play to ensure cricket returns to Pakistan.. that is the only goal of our lifetime, the reason we were born?" If you did think this, well its probably delusional. Zimb/CSA or maybe WICB will have noticed this. Will they volunteer to help next?

Even if we drop the IPL argument, why did the same players and NZ government trust the same security for escorting to airport?. As Hafeez also pointed out. Is it not hypocrisy by NZ?

NZ captain unfazed that he has a Covid cases/s in his team and has an important tournament next month. His country following an elimination strategy over Covid where they go into snap lockdown even at whiff of Covid. Is there no threat lurking right now? Is the mental well-being of these players before WT20 not important?. What if someone dies die to Covid. We were told better be safe than sorry right.

What was the option but to trust that security one time to get out of the country?

Very well said. Is NZC and their fans okay with their captain playing along covid infected players? Where is their safety first approach now?

Kane is not on nzc duty currently. So he can make individual decisions.

Yes. He is busy collecting his yearly IPL cheque but he is also supposed to lead their side in a world cup in less than a month time. His health should be important and NZC should be concerned.

Thats his individual decision. Its his risk of missing the glory of leading the team to a T20 WC victory.
