Wow, wow, wow.

Butler has been on fire, crazy stats.

Killing it in IPL as well here..

The greatest overseas IPL batters of all-time :

Chris Gayle
AB de Villiers
David Warner
Jos Buttler

So, Buttler joins the league of Gayle, AB and Warner. Others are clearly behind these 4.

Jos Buttler continued his rich run of form for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), smashing his third century in the ongoing match against the Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Buttler reached his century in 57 deliveries with the help of 8 boundaries and 8 sixes. Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal took the attack to the Delhi bowlers after Rishabh Pant decided to field first.

The Englishman was equally brutal in his attack against both spinners and pacers. He was severe against the left-arm wrist spin of Kuldeep Yadav.

Padikkal was dismissed for 54 but not before he and Buttler had added 155 runs in just 15.1 overs.

Buttler, who is currently on top of the Orange Cap list by a mile, had earlier played knocks of 100 and 103 against Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, respectively.

The Englishman also scored half-centuries against Royal Challengers Bangalore (70) and Gujarat Titans (54 not out).

Virat Kohli holds the record for smashing the most number of centuries in a single season, having hit four tons during the 2016 season.

Buttler dismissed on a score of 116 off 65 balls. His innings was laced with nine boundaries and nine sixes.

After his dismissal, skipper Sanju Samson played an unbeaten knock of 46 as RR managed to post a total of 222 for two in 20 overs.

Mushtaq Ahmed's reply:

"I worked with England for six years and everyone remembers the technical work we did. It is nice when you work with someone and they remember it, I communicated with Buttler and thanked him too"

"The coach's job is to pass on his knowledge and experience to the players, the rest is up to the player. We are also trying to bring this culture to the Pakistani team"

Brilliant finish from Jos Butler in the 1st Qualifer vs Gujrat Titans, started very slowly and was 30 of 31 at one point, but finished strongly to end with 89 of 56 with a few let offs from dropped catches along the way.

Ok the opposition was not world-class and the ground was small but...

Ned v Eng, 1st ODI:

Player of the Match, JOS BUTTLER (162no off 70 balls, 14 sixes, seven fours)

"It certainly feels [like I am in the form of my life]. The IPL couldn't have gone better for me. It gives you a hell of a lot of confidence. Coming here I was feeling in good touch. It was a great wicket and we got a really good start so it gave us licence to really attack.

"I am trying to back my six-hitting a lot more than I have in the last one or two years. I am trying to stand a lot stiller and hit sixes. That was the plan today."

Morgan: Buttler in a world of his own

"Jos played in a world of his own, like he has been over the last year or two years. It's incredible to watch and not something we ever get sick of or take for granted. It really is amazing cricket. It's the reason he probably is the best white-ball cricketer in the world at the moment."

Nearly could have happened. RCB bid for him in 2016 auction and were beat out by MI.
If they'd pulled it off, RCB would have had Gayle, Kohli, ABD and Buttler in the same XI

Hopefully will never play tests again. Leave him in LO cricket where he excels.

Yes I can’t see a need for Jos, a legendary LOI player, to be subjected to any more Tests. The format has never really suited him in full.

We have the wonderful Ben Foakes, a proper wicketkeeper who has now (finally!) been given the rope to establish his place in the team, and if he was unavailable for whichever reason then YJB is a more than capable deputy who can drop to 7 with the gloves and Harry Brook jumps into the middle order. (We even have Ollie Pope as a reserve wicketkeeper!)

There is no natural place in the Test side for Jos now. He doesn’t average enough to be a specialist bat either. To be honest I think this situation suits both England and Jos.

A couple of years like this and he will be one of the greatest LOI batsman of all time. He is what Afridi could have been if he was consistent.

The Ingerlund is a meritocracy again under Key & B-Mac. It was too mateyish before. Foakes should have played fifty tests by now, but better late than never.

I think this innings is hyped a bit too much. It was a good hitting display but the ground was small and it was against the 2nd Dutch side. Butler is no way near AB. Who at his peak scored 149 off just 44 balls against a test side

Buttler is ABD lite, I don't expect to see another player like ABD in my life again. ABD/Bradman are once in a lifetime freaks

Another excellent outing - Buttler 86* (64) - helps to beat Ned in 3rd ODI

You don't see this often! Jos Buttler hit a huge six off a no-ball after the ball bounced twice... and of course he hit another six off the free hit

Jos Buttler did not say yes, but nor was there a denial as England's newly-appointed white-ball captain was again quizzed on his interest in a potential, eventual return to a rejuvenated Test set-up.

Eoin Morgan's successor has warranted talk of a red-ball comeback by way of the phenomenal form elevating him among the best one-day batsmen in the world and that left him as the obvious choice to take over leadership duties.

Buttler has not featured in the Test side since being replaced by Ben Foakes in the wake of a disappointing Ashes series, and while an admirer of the stylistic-makeover it is evident his focus remains solely on life under Matthew Mott.

"It's not a question that needs to be answered at the minute for me I think," replied Buttler when asked if he wanted to return to the Test team.

"I'm very focused on this, and there's not many spaces available in that team is there? They're playing brilliantly well and it's great to watch.

"Being made captain of this team in T20s and ODIs needs full focus and a lot of energy, so that's where all mine is at the minute."

Buttler will lead England out as full-time captain for the first time on Thursday when they take on India in the first of three T20 internationals, which will be followed by three one-day contests.

He does so having smashed 162 off 70 balls to spearhead England to a 232-run win in their first ODI against the Netherlands last month to follow up his sublime IPL form.

Aggressive batting and high-intensity action has emerged as something of a mutual theme between the two sides upon the rise of 'Bazball' under Brendan McCullum, with Buttler excited by a new era for English cricket.

"I think there's a clear identity for that Test team now which is the way they're going to play," said Buttler.

"I think we've [the one-day team] had that for a long time, we're always trying to push the boundaries and luckily we'll get to bring a few of those guys into our group as well who have been in fantastic form. Playing in that fashion that suits us down to the ground as well.

"I think it's a great time for England cricket. I think what they've managed to achieve over the last four weeks, being around the country and hearing people talk about Test cricket and the fashion they're playing, it's such a positive thing for the game in our country and Test cricket as well."

England continued their resurgence under Ben Stokes and McCullum this week as Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow hit centuries on their way to completing a record 378 run chase against India.

While Stokes appears to have paired captaincy duties with his own on-field production seamlessly, Buttler has zero concerns over his own ability to balance the added workload.

"I don't think [his form will be hindered by captaincy]," said Buttler. "I want to be a captain that leads from the front and leads by examples and by the way I play as well.

"I'll keep challenging myself to get better as a player and being able to compartmentalise the two jobs will be important so making sure I have time to really prepare as a player first and foremost as well as doing all the captaincy duties as well.

"I think I'll learn that as I go along. In terms of a place to take over from, if I'm not ready to take over now I'll never be I don't think.

I think I'm in the best place I've ever been to become a captain of the team at this moment so I'm excited for the challenge ahead."

Jos Buttler has won the 2022 Royal London ODI Player of the Summer award after ending the campaign in first position, statistically.

The new England white-ball captain had an impressive summer with the bat and behind the stumps. Buttler played a major part in England breaking their own world record after scoring a blistering career best in a total of 498. Buttler takes the trophy from Saqib Mahmood who secured the 2021 award thanks to his outstanding contribution against Pakistan.

The Royal London ODI Player of the Summer is selected by the PCA Most Valuable Player Rankings. The formula enables players to score or lose MVP points on every ball based on their expected performance for that ball in comparison to CricViz’s extensive historical database of 50-over fixtures, with the venue being played at also taken into account.

Scoring 373 runs at an average of 62.2 with a strike rate of 130 and taking eight catches, a stumping and a run out, Buttler is a worthy winner of the award securing 75 points on the ODI MVP table.

Jos Buttler ODI POTS

Buttler scored an incredible 162* with a strike rate of 231.4 with seven fours and 14 sixes against the Netherlands in the first ODI of the summer as England piled on 498 and won by 232 runs.

The 31-year-old also scored 60 and took two catches in the third Royal London ODI against India.

Buttler picked up a Match MVP award in the second Royal London ODI against South Africa, scoring 19 with the bat and taking a catch, a run out and a stumping with the gloves.

David Willey came second on the rankings with 64 points, thanks to taking 11 wickets at 22.3 and scoring 101 runs at 25.3 with a strike rate of 91.

The all-rounder picked up the most Match MVP awards with three across the summer. In the second ODI against the Netherlands, Willey picked up 16 points for his 2-46 and a catch, he also took 4-36 in the final ODI in Holland.

Jason Roy came third in the rankings with 62 MVP points, scoring 296 runs at an average of 42.3 with one hundred.

Roy’s most impressive knock of the summer coming in the final ODI in the Netherlands scoring 101* with a strike rate of 117 and taking a catch to earn 22 MVP points.

Reece Topley earnt 59 points in the rankings thanks to some great performances with the ball.

The left-arm seam bowler took 13 wickets at a brilliant average of 16.4 including a record breaking six-fer.

Topley won the Match MVP award in the second ODI against India taking the best figures of an England bowler in ODI cricket with 6-24 earning him 22 points. He also picked up the award in the third game taking 3-35.

Attention for the domestic players now turns to the Royal London Cup which starts today, Scott Borthwick will be hoping for another good campaign after winning the Royal London Cup Player of the Year last season.

Josh has a chance to cement himself as a LOI great. The ship may have sailed in Tests

Lancashire Cricket can confirm that England men’s white ball captain Jos Buttler has signed a three-year contract extension with the Club.

Buttler’s current deal was due to expire at the end of this season, but he will now remain at Emirates Old Trafford until at least the end of 2025.

The 32-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best one-day batters in world cricket, joined Lancashire in 2013 from Somerset and was a key part of the Lancashire Lightning side who lifted the T20 Blast trophy for the first time in the Club’s history in 2015.

Buttler, who holds a Central Contract with the ECB, has played in 157 ODIs, 97 T20Is and 57 Test matches for England, winning the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 before taking over the white ball captaincy from Eoin Morgan earlier this year.

Jos Buttler said: “I am really pleased to commit my county cricket future to Lancashire, the Club which provided me with an opportunity to achieve my ambitions when I joined from Somerset back in 2013.

“Whilst I have not had the opportunity to come back as much as I would have liked in recent seasons, it is always a privilege to represent the Red Rose and play at Emirates Old Trafford in front of our Members and supporters.

“I will always look to help the Club wherever I can and hopefully there are plenty of opportunities for me to able to do so during the next three seasons.”

Director of Cricket Performance Mark Chilton also commented: “We are delighted that Jos has signed a new three-year contract with Lancashire Cricket.

“We are all aware of the limitations within the schedule for a cricketer in demand such as Jos, however, as England men’s white ball captain and a World Cup winner, the value of the experiences that Jos, when available, can impart into our dressing room cannot be underestimated.

“Jos is one of the most feared white ball batters in world cricket and to have the option to include him in our side, when the schedules allow, is something which can only make us stronger and benefit our younger players to learn from such an elite performer.”

Great player. Can’t see him turning up at many games for Lancs over the next three years. He is more of a mascot for them. Particularly with him now back in batting form and starting to come into his own as England’s white ball captain.

63* (40) at the moment - real captains knock in a must win game vs NZ

Has Butler played any clutch knocks yet like in a knock out even in leagues like IPL?

Got out before the job was done and left it to Stokes though. Dhoni would have been there at the finish.

It was still a fantastic innings. He scored a run a ball 59 when England were reeling for 86/4 and put the pressure right back on New Zealand.

Stokes was playing second fiddle to him during that partnership and was struggling to time the ball but Buttler took the pressure off him. Not to mention, he hit a crucial boundary of the last delivery in the Super Over that proved hugely significant.

Stokes played a blinder after Buttler was dismissed and was rightfully adjudged the player of the match (should have been played of the tourney too), but Buttler produced a clutch performance as well.

Dhoni did that on an easy paced track under lights at Wankhede way back in 2011.

The CWC final was in extremely tough batting conditions at Lord's. Dhoni would have either got out cheaply or played a nice 60 ball 35 and guided us to a respectable loss.

Not that great from Buttler in this World Cup

18,0,73 and 28 today

Slightly full as a spinner and you will be sent to the neighboring province by Jos Butler

Butler can break Sharma’s record if he opens or bats at 3 I recon

There are jokers who think Rizwan is better than him :)))

Rizwan cannot lace his boots in any format.

I recon Ben Foakes might also excel him if he is called upon in white ball cricket

The ball was stopping a bit, which suited the Kiwi medium pacers better than the England quicks, and handicapped the England big hitters.

Just like an English groundsman to give the visiting team an advantage!

Nothing to do with the curator. Lord's is the toughest place to bat in ODIs. And England are generally poor there.

It’s disappointing that he didn’t do better in his test career. He really should have. Think he was too cautious in his approach and never quite got that balance right.

He should have ended up there with Gilchrist as a game changer in test cricket at 6 or 7.

Its a shame he couldnt crack test match cricket

It’s not a shame really his technique was never going to in test cricket. He’s lucky to be dropped from test would have been one of the worst to play 100 tests. An all time great limited over payer though.

The fact that he is not part of Bazball is extremely frustrating. He could take the current England Test team to a different level.

Buttler with a breath-taking 95(59) vs SRH

Players with 4 ducks in an IPL season:

Herschelle Gibbs (DC, 2009)
Mithun Manhas (PWI, 2011)
Manish Pandey (PWI, 2012)
Shikhar Dhawan (DC, 2020)
Eoin Morgan (KKR, 2021)
Nicholas Pooran (SRH, 2021)
Jos Buttler (RR, 2023)

Rajasthan Royals (RR) star batter Jos Buttler registered an unwanted batting record on Friday, becoming a player with the most ducks in a single season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The batter registered this record during the match against Punjab Kings in Dharamshala. In the match, he was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for a three-ball duck. This is his fifth duck in this season. There are some batters who have scored four ducks in a single IPL season: Herchelle Gibbs (Deccan Chargers, 2009), Mithun Manhas (Pune Warriors India, 2011), Manish Pandey (Pune Warriors India, 2012), Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals, 2020), Eoin Morgan (Kolkata Knight Riders, 2021) and Nicholas Pooran (Punjab Kings, 2021).

Very iffy season for Buttler

Not the best of the seasons for Buttler but he is considered a huge brand in IPL cricket itself so will continue to be an expensive pick throughout his cricketing career.
