Unless Hafeez is permanently eliminated Pakistan can never prosper at the world level and remain mediocre. We have an amazing group of players with immense potential but the selection of Hafeez is a hindrance to balance and strategy which is essential in our triumph.

Hafeez is an old yeller which needs to be taken behind a barn, he has made his money and there is nothing but ego which is forcing him to 'fight this scenario' and stay in the limelight which will cost Pakistan trophies and away victories.

In all our acid challenges it is unfortunate that he has forced himself into a position where he will play a role in them

Well he's better than Imam, Sami and Shan. Also can score faster than anyone else in our team apart from Fakhar. No other options and he brings bowling aswell.

He's better than no one. His stats in South Africa, Australia, England & New Zealand are the worst among the top order bats (1-7) who represented Pakistan in last 50 years

Sami did a wonderful job in our drawn series vs England in 2016 which helped us attain the no.1 ranking, why should we get rid of youngsters who we can develop for the future over a proven failure who keeps betraying his country and has the most awful record away from home ? and I want to reiterate this because our key series in the future will be in tough conditions and Hafeez has never shown any heart in these circumstances and is very weak mentally

Yes single handedly he will lose us this series...Don't understand these premature threads making huge predictions like this. Will be bumped in the future am sure

He will cost us the world cup if we keep on selecting him. Also the tactics he uses to get selected into the squads are despicable.

He still has a role to play till the 2019 WC and his bowling in particular is vital to Pakistan's WC chances. That said, he will fail badly in South Africa

His non selection at the Asia Cup was probably a turning point. If he was, and performed badly, he would have been out of the side right away and would have retired. Now there's a fear to drop him. He helped his case with the 100 vs AUS and 50 vs NZ. Think he'll retire after the WC

Finally someone accepting the truth. He is here to stay. You can cry about him being dropped, the fact is he won't. Even when he is dropped,he will be back after a couple of series.

More than him, Shoaib Malik will be the biggest factor in losing us games, series.

A bit biased thread.

Not to forget him losing the:
WC 2011
SA 2013 series
CT 2013
2014 WT20
2016 WT20

He has been a fine player for us and a world class player in Asia. However, his best is behind him and I don't see him getting on the plane to South Africa.

He is fine if he plays as a bowling all rounder

Shadab/faheem/imad/hafeez

That's where he fits

He should be nowhere up the top

He has kind of built a reputation of letting us down in important situations. He needs to be taken out of the team. He is needed to be out the team for quite some time as well which makes it worse.

I don't see Hafeez playing the SA Tests. In fact, this is probably his last Test series in his career.

He still has a role to play in the ODI side for the WC provided he can bowl. Our attack has always performed well when he's part of it.

To see him opening is such a pain. Its a loss for PAK cricket as a organisation to see this happen. CS, coach, captain all very very weak to let such a player continue.

I would only persist with Hafeez in ODIs if he was willing to bat at 6 and I was totally convinced that his bowling action is clean and effective, so he doesn't have to go back to the ways of chucking.

In tests him and Imam need to be dropped for Fakhar and Saad Ali with a team an XI as follows:

Azhar
Fakhar
Haris
Babar
Shafiq
Saad Ali
Sarfraz/Rizwan
Bilal Asif or Zafar Gohar/Faheem
Hasan Ali/Amir
Shaheen
Abbas

Disagree

As if the rest of the team is full of world beaters.

What a luck of hafeez scored hundred on flat track where khurram got double on pitch like this, then take his real form back 1 hundred in 10 tests then go on 20's
How long we see this guy

Was today the last Test innings of Muhammad Hafeez?

The look at the face of Coach Micky Arthur said everything the moment Hafeez got out today. And it really was a very soft dismissal.

I have a sinking feeling, Arthur wanted to give him last chance today, he failed again. 5 consecutive failures after that 100 against Australia.

Fakhar Zaman has a bright chance now of making it back into the Test Arena.

Will unfortunately probably get the next game with Fakhar not even in the squad. Hopefully doesn't manage to play a career saving innings and can be discarded from Tests for good

He will find a way to “fight this scenario” as usual. Will probably play a big knock in the second or third Test to be on the plane to South Africa.

Unless Azhar opens next game with Saad slotting in at 6.

He has scored hundreds against Australia, New Zealand and England in the UAE as opener, and he will do it again provided that he survives the first hour.

Lmao was about to make a thread like this. In a career spanning a decade roughly he has played a pivotal hand in the aane do series and his innings in the CT final. That’s it. The izzat he brought us by bringing Indians to their knees in India years ago he has lost by being a terrible fielder and losing his nerve when we need him the most.

He’s that one friend who will hit you up when life is going well for you, copping free dinners, asking for favors, asking you to arrange a rishta with his sister

But once you’re the one in need he will vanish.

This man is such a curse, he is making a full recovery and will pass the fitness test with flying colours

He's average player. The reason he is selected at this age is due to experience and his relationship with Inzi. Our fans are so desperate for a finisher they think a 38 year with rubbish stats outside of Asia is good enough after 1 knock in the CT final.

Cannot wait to move on from Malik,Hafeez ,and Sarfraz.

We will not make the last 4 primarily due to those 3 names, I despite them all with a passion especially Sarfraz and all his supporters :mv

I don't hate Malik, he just isn't good enough anymore. I do despise Sarfraz and his fans. They will go into hiding if we go out in the group stages. On their return they will blame xyz for the failure. But if we go through, you know who will get all the credit. :))

True, I think I probably hate Sarfraz even more because of his toxic fans they are like the Cenation or Justin Bieber fans. The guy is like some messiah for his supporters, it's quite sad really because outside one little purple patch he doesn't deserve ATG worship and has been behind some truly shambolic defeats especially in Tests which I just can't forget, it turned me off cricket the shame he caused in the UAE but I guess we all tend to keep an eye on the WC when it comes around although I don't have high hopes

It's not his fault. I started a similar thread earlier this week about Hafeez. But more than Hafeez fans need to blame the selectors, captain, and head coach. Hafeez is a professional cricketer. He will pull every lever he has to get selected. But why is he getting selected in the first place and why are selectors asking him to do a job he's not qualified for.

Bad post.

Very uninformed, lacking cricketing acumen, at least in this thread.

Nothing to see here except some blind hate - move on folks.

I don't have high hopes too. I really hope he proves me wrong.

I'm awaiting eagerly to see if the modern day Javed Miandad, aka Hafeez has made it into the squad.

Only Babar is a better middle order batsman than 38 years old Hafeez. Such poor is the batting standard in Pakistan.

He was one of our best batsmen in the last series. Don't understand hate for him

Hafeez is good at no.5 or 6.

I am expecting more from him this time around.

He is still better than all of our ‘swag’ youngsters like Faheem, Shadab, Asif, Talat and Fakhar. Hafeez is a must for us along with Imad Wasim. They are the only ones who can hit down the order.

Please don't put Fakhar in the fake swag category.

If there is a bit of swing on offer, Hafeez is a walking wicket. Only in Pakistan such medicore bastmen are called seniors and experienced players. And I feel like he could also cost this world cup, too. I never felt confident with his batting skils.
