Are the Glazers launching a Man Utd cricket team?

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has criticised Avram Glazer for travelling to Dubai to discuss the launch of a Manchester United cricket team in the wake of their Champions League elimination.

Manchester United have denied reports co-owner Avram Glazer is planning to set up a cricket team bearing the United name.

Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, tweeted a photo of him meeting Glazer, claiming talks had taken place.

However, United have clarified their position, saying the idea was proposed but is not under consideration by the club.

United also stressed that any acquisition of a cricket franchise by Glazer - who unsuccessfully bid for an IPL franchise last October - is unrelated to Manchester United, other than common ownership, in the same way as the Glazer family's ownership of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
