In cricket, we see every kind of stuff. Some actions are extraordinary and some are just too awful to forego. Such some howlers that still haunt cricket fans from different nations are following.

*Misbah's scoop against India 2007 T20 WC
* Allan Donald's runout in 1999 WC Semi Final
* Jaspit Bumrah's no ball against Fakhar in ct 2017
* Yuvraj Singh's Test innings in T20 WC Final 2014 against Sri Lanka
* Ben Stokes bat deflection against New Zealand that robbed them of a WC glory
* Rohit Sharma's irresponsible shot that resulted in his dismissal in 2023 WC

So name any such howler that you think was the biggest of them all or akin.

I pick Allan Donald's run-out in 1999 WC semi-final.

South Africa were almost home. That risky single wasn't needed at all.

Hafeez’s scoop in the Mohali semifinal triggered a collapse that Pakistan couldn’t recover from. It was an unbelievably dumb shot.

Yep Pakistan was cruising then but afterwards just lost because of lack of intent from others.

I think India lost WC 2023 because of Rohit Sharma's throwing of wicket. If he had stayed there then may be things would have been different for India.

Knowing Aussies during knockout games, I think Aussies probably would've found a way.

The way Head and Labu batted, even 300 wasn't safe.

When you said "howlers", I was under the impression of it being umpire howlers. If so, I would have looked no farther than Sydney 2008.

In this pole, I would pick Misbah's scoop. Changed history.

Misbha didn't reverse sweep. He scooped. The funny thing is. Gambhir also did the same kind of scoop and got outin the same match. Just that he didn't get out in the last over like Misbha.

Misbah's brain fade during the 2007 t20 final was the thing that never goes away from my mind. That was the worst thing he has done during his career.

Misbah's brain fade resulted in India winning their one and only T20 world cup, the start of the IPL and the rise in power of Indian cricket and fall of Pakistan cricket (Finance-wise atleast)

I don’t know if Rohit’s 2023 WC final dismissal can be considered a howler. He was playing the way he played the whole tournament and it was a high risk play style which worked for 10 games.

But I still chose that from the list available because until India wins another 50 over World Cup, that loss will sting a bit.

When will people stop believing this exaggerated myth?

Misbah had literally nothing to do IPL. The IPL was created in response to the ICL.

It would have gone on to change the complexion of cricket even if Pakistan had beaten India in the final in 2007.

Yuvraj in the 2014 WT20 final, that started our era of choking. Before that Indian team was quite clutch.

Wt20 win nothing to do with IPL.. it starts just to kill ICL actually..

And I think Allan Donald wrongfully crucified there.. it was 100% Klusner fault.. no single was there, had Lehman hit direct at bowlers end then Klusner will be well short.. (and in previous ball Donald barely escape runout).. he just choked under pressure (yeah it's a choke from Klusner end, no need to that risky single when there's two ball left) just like AB in that fumbled run out chance..

I picked stokes one bcs umpires gives one extra run in that overthrow.. that's how they able tie the score..

That Misbah's scoop shot against India in the ICC T20I World Cup 2007 final, it had upset me alot.

I think Donald wasn’t alert there, if he had acted on time then result would have been different.

If Misbah had executed that scoop well then people would have been cursing Dhoni for giving the last over to Joginder(the even bigger howler).

How many people in India would have wanted to watch a T20 game after losing to Pakistan in a T20 World Cup final having sent a sub-standard team to the event? The aftermath of India's loss to Pakistan in the T20 final of 2007 would have undoubtedly left a bitter taste in the mouths of Indian cricket fans. The defeat, compounded by the earlier humiliation in the ODI World Cup, would have been a double blow to the cricketing pride of the nation. Many Indians would have found it hard to muster the enthusiasm to watch cricket for a considerable period.

The online communities of Pakistan and Bangladesh, fueled by the victory, might have taken to social media to taunt and tease Indian fans, adding insult to injury. Imagine Pakistani and Bangladeshis all over the world teasing their office colleagues. It would have been brutal. How many would have shown interest in the IPL?

The BCCI, facing intense scrutiny and criticism, would likely have undergone significant restructuring to address the failures of the team. If you've followed the recent Bollywood bashing after the death of an actor Sushant, the 2007 humiliation of the legendary Kapil Dev compounded with the humiliating losses could have brought serious public backlash for the BCCI. The BCCI would have taken some time for its image to recover and Lalit Modi's idea for IPL would have been postponed or thrown into the bin.

Speculating further, the landscape of cricket administration could have seen a shift, with other countries exploring their own versions of domestic T20 leagues. England or even Pakistan could have initiated leagues similar to the IPL, altering the dynamics of international cricket. Imagine Pakistan starting PSL in Pakistan in 2008 when International cricket was not banned.

The above is a hypothetical butterfly-effect of Misbah's scoop showcasing a potential ripple effect of cricketing history. There is no way for me to prove that this would surely happen. But I would like to believe that there is a hypothetical scenario where the IPL could have been junked if Pakistan had won the Final.

Who knows Misbah could now be the current PM of Pakistan, and Pakistan a 2-time T20 World Cup winning champion with India yet to even win one.

Might, would, could. Count the number of assumptions in your post.

Yeah it is a cool story that Misbah gave birth to IPL and a dramatic one as well, but unfortunately it has nothing to do with the real world and what actually happened.

World Cup 1975 Pak vs West Indies
Pak were winning — they had got WI to 203-9 chasing 267.
Last pair got the WI home
Majid messed up the bowling and it ended up with Wasim Raja bowling his part time leg spin (his first over) for the last (60th over).
Haunts me to this day

that crazy hitting by Micheal Hussey in world cup 2010 semi against pakistan which took the game away which was in our pocket.. still remeber that i couldnt sleep for 2 nights after that game.

Saeed Ajmal wouldn't have slept well for a month then I guess.

In recent times, Rohit throwing his wicket against Maxwell in the WC final. When he and Kohli were playing, 300 was on.
