Which international team gets the most support from people living in Pakistan?

My cousin from pak is a die hard England fan and I've never understood why.

Various teams like Brazil/Argentina etc depending upon what one went through before or what one was taught at the time as a kid but they are really bad at the moment. More football savy fans will choose other teams but for the majority it's nostalgia and brainwashing.

I think, it's Argentina, closely followed by Brazil. That's what in BD, probably in IND as well. In BD, Arges are actually over 60%, Brazil probably 35%, and rest are 5%. At one point, France was quite popular not for their soccer, but for Zidane, who happens to be born in Muslim parents (but fools supporting France for Zizu being Muslim, hardly know that he is self declared non practicing Muslim, in fact an atheist)

The reason is (I am telling in BD perspective, should be similar in PAK as well) - first live telecast of WC started in BD was 1978, when Argentina won the Cup, albeit with lots of controversy. Then, Maradona came and he was kicked around like a soccer ball in 1982 WC. Next 2 WCs were all Maradona - cheated one to win it in 1986; another hand of God to make the Final of 1990 (In last group game on 1990, he should have been sent off for deliberately handling the ball on way to goal - was already on yellow, and Romania deserved a spot kick) .... despite their dominance, Germany is still the most hated team in BD for the 1990 Final - which should have been called off by 75th minute, because a Soccer game needs minimum 7 players on pitch - Arges did enough to be 5 men down by the hour & quarter mark; Mexican referee just sent off 2!!!!!

Then finally, Maradona was banned for doping, which earned lost of sympathy for him (& Argentina), because 99% people took it as a kanspiracy (actually, not many understand the difference between doping & drug use). One idiot, happens to be a top sports journalist wrote in a national newspaper that - give all sorts of drugs to Baggio, still he won't ever play like Maradona - if it was on-line addition with voting, his article would have got 10mn Green arrows (from 5mn users, lots of fanatics would have created new accout just to vote whole day!!!!!) and may be few Reds (at least 1 I can confirm). 4 years later, I actually was almost man handled, trying to prove that Bergkamp's wonder goal of 1998, that took Arges out was a perfectly clean goal - no off side and FIFA didn't cheat .........

Finally, now it's the time for Muqqaddar Ka Sikkander, who happens to be the most eye catching mannequin ever ..........

There was a time when it was just Argentina and Brazil, but there is a lot of support for Spain,Germany,Italy and even England(makes no sense).

I saw many supporting Portugal too but only in Goa.

Brazil but i remember when spain was doing well from 2008-2012 alot of people were supporting spain

Since1986, I have never missed a single match of Brazil. It’s weird that I support Brazil in foot ball with same intensity and passion as I do Pakistan in Cricket(maybe getting bit carried away, but close). I don’t know why but moment I saw Brazil playing in WC 1982, I just love their style. Most of the time I know every memeber of their team. Although it’s not the same style, but love for Brazil has not fade away. I still want them to win as always!!

Foot ball without Brazil is not the same

Brilliant support for Iran today against Spain - probably the best atmosphere of any match in the tournament so far.
