The Official Homework Help Thread

As far as I know, there shouldn't be any Calculus involved. My younger brother's doing micro and he hasn't even learned Pre-cal let alone Calculus. Have you tried WikiAnswers? Like copy paste the question in Google's search engine? lol.

There can be a lot of calculus involved in an introductory microeconomics class, or none at all.

Inverse demand curve => Demand curve
P = 1000 - 4Qd => Qd = 250 - P/4

Inverse supply curve => Supply curve
P = 50 + Qs => Qs = P - 50

Equilibrium
Qs = Qd
P - 50 = 250 - P/4
P = 240

Qs = 240 - 50 or Qd = 250 - 240/4 = 250 - 60
Qs = 190

Equilibrium occurs at P = 240 and Q = 190

Yup, already got this answer! thanks tho

Hey can someone here write codes for me, willing to pay handsomely.

Thanks. :butt

Next week! This is due Monday :P

Thanks still for all your help - although I gotta wonder how come your life became so boring as to worry about an econ problem like that - one you don't even have to submit? :srt

It's the camaraderie that Time Pass fosters in us. Working on this problem brought back memories of when we were all, to the last man (and woman), rooting for Mamoon in his risha quest, after having composed that text message.

This is not to say my life isn't boring. I believe rigmarole is the word.

There's supposedly calculus involved at some point but man, I don't even know.. I honestly just hope I pass (after a whirlwind of craziness in undergrad, I'm done stressing over grades.)

I tried that. Nada :/

This isn't calculus but don't worry you'll probz learn calculus soon enough (when you start elasticities I believe).

On a serious note, I need SERIOUS HELP NOW.

CUZ CALCULUS IS HERE!

Same question. These are the parts (using the same inverse supply curve => p =50 +QS):

Now suppose that we write down an alternate demand function where I is total consumer income, Pu is the price of Uber, and Pl is the price of another ride-sharing platform, Lyft.
Pu = 1000 − 4QD(pu, pl, I) + I + pl

(d) Suppose that I = 10, 000 and pl = 100. Assuming the same supply curve as in the preamble, what is the income elasticity of demand in equilibrium? What type of good is ride sharing at this point: inferior, normal, luxury? (Please answer “yes” or “no” for each of these three). Why?

Now I plugged in the values and solved the new demand and supply curve to get the new equilibrium point. The eq quantity is 2210, and the price is 2260.

But how do I get the income elasticity? I know it uses derivatives and calculus, but i checked Youtube videos, I don't know how to get a derivative here :/

HALP!

On a scale of 1 to SubhanAllah, how mubarik is your zuban? :moyo :P

That was such a memorable time though.. So many awesome people all involved and posting at the same time :'D

HALP!

Pu = 1000 - 4Qd + I + pl

I = 10000
pl = 100

P = 1000 - 4Qd + 10000 + 100

P = 11100 - 4Qd
Qd = (11100 - P)/4

P = 50 + Qs
Qs = P - 50

Qs = Qd
P - 50 = (11100 - P)/4
4P - 200 = 11100 - P
5P = 11300
P = 2260
Q = P - 50
Q = 2210

You got this far.

For income elasticity, increase I by 1

I = 10001

Pu = 1000 - 4Qd + 10001 + 100

Qd = (11101 - P)/4
Qs = P - 50

Qd = Qs
(11101 - P)/4 = P - 50
11101 - P = 4P - 200
11301 / 5 = P
P = 2260.2
Q = P - 50
Q = 2210.2

Income elasticity of demand = (ΔQ/Q) / (ΔI/I)
Income elasticity of demand = (0.2/2210) / (1/10000)
Income elasticity of demand = 200/221
Income elasticity of demand = 0.904

Since the income elasticity of demand is less than 1, the type is normal

Elasticity!!

Just starting it today.

ED = Q2 - Q1 / (Q1 + Q2) divided by 2 / P2 - P1 / (P1 + P2) divided by 2.

Then multiply the answer by like 10% to determine the ED at a 10% price increase.

Hey guys, I'm currently taking A.P. Langus, an English class. My performance has been par up till now and I trying my best to improve. Below, I have added in an essay I did recently which I received a 6 on. In addition, the rubric used is in the link here- http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/samplescoringguidelin_51461.pdf

Here is his speech- https://www.nps.gov/jofi/learn/education/upload/Inaugural-Address.pdf

I understand there are many flaws in my writing. For instance, all of my argument is written in a single paragraph. However, right now I would like tips to improve upon the depth and quality of my analysis. I would very much appreciate if anyone could help me out here.

JFK Inaugural Speech Rhetorical Analysis

The election of 1960 was one of the closest elections in the U.S. history. JFK was targeted by Nixon, the Republican nominee, of inexperience to be the President of United States. At a crucial phase of the Cold War, Kennedy’s capability as a leader would be fully tested. Like every other President, Kennedy had to make an inaugural speech which inform the people of the President’s intention. To deliver a well rounded speech, Kennedy used rhetorical elements throughout his speech for several purposes. Kennedy’s speech was to clear the doubts that the people had on Kennedy’s ability to come out strong and mature as a leader, and to assure the Citizens of America that the country will not look behind rather move forward.

Kennedy exhibited rhetorical devices to further his purpose to the crowd and the thousands watching at home. For starters, Kennedy stated, “For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.” he briefed the people that he will, like all other presidents, serve the people to his fullest potential. To establish credibility to the oath he has taken to serves the people he uses logos. The use of logos is evident through the purposeful use of, “For I have sworn before you and Almighty God” assures the people since God was considered to be the ultimate power therefore, a swear on God’s name gives it the utmost reliability thus establishing logos. To further his speech and claim, Kennedy expressed, “the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans” as a means to reach his younger audience. Kennedy believed that it’s time for young Americans to step up and give back to the nation as it is their time to provide the nation with their service. He uses a metaphor “torch” as a means of getting his message across. This word allows everyone to interpret his message as they like. For instance, a torch represents aspiration for success which can only be achieved by progressive mindset. The people, as a result, could look at this as a motion to move forward which consequently results into Kennedy’s capability as a leader who wishes to only look into the future. Furthermore, Kennedy took into account of the events around the world, specifically the Cold War which exponentially increased the nuclear arms in the world. To address the problem Kennedy exclaimed, “before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.” Kennedy looked to denuclearize the country due to the exceptionally dangerous nature of nuclear power which a large number of people would have liked. Kennedy uses alliteration twenty one times in total to emphasize on key points specifically on the importance of disarmament of nuclear weapons. The use of words such as “dark powers” “destruction unleashed” “engulf” and “self-destruction” are all words that paint a picture of urgency towards disarmament of nuclear weapons. The results from the use of the two nuclear weapons in the past, the people thus giving a gesture to an onset to a promising future which dismantle the doubts people had on Kennedy. Furtheron, Kennedy spoke on domestic problems, “a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself.” Kennedy looked to unite Americans through the problems that were faced by the nation as a complete, for example war, disease, tyranny which pertained to the whole world, poverty which regarded to majority of Americans and last but not least, war which affected to whole world. In this particular instance, Kennedy used pathos to bring up emotions to unite the nation. These specific words and specially “common enemies of man” develop a sense of unity through the crowd and the people watching at home. Furthermore, the statement uses parallelism by stating words pertaining to similar negative connotation. By bringing the people together, Kennedy continued to push his purpose to complete practice in his speech. Additionally, Kennedy looked to promote patriotism by stating, “my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Kennedy asked American Citizens to provide their services to America rather than to take the services provided by the rest of the country for granted. Kennedy used a rhetorical question to question the standing point of citizens on service to the country. By stating “my fellow Americans” Kennedy brings himself on the same level with the rest of the people. It’s a very inclusive phrase which brings in emotion of patriotism and especially the phrase “ask what you can do for your country.” persuades the people to serve their country. As a result, the country can only move forward through Kennedy’s leadership. Last but not least, Kennedy asked the crowd to only looked into the future and not to worry about the past, “let us go forth to lead the land we love”. The use of a hortative sentence urged the people to look at the bright side of the future rather than to ponder upon the gloomy side of the possibility. The words, “us”, “lead” and “we” connote a very calm emotion and a look in the future as a united nation. Kennedy is able to bring the people together and diminish the doubts that were put upon his capabilities as a leader achieving what any leader would like.

Kennedy looked to clear all uncertainty regarding his capability as a sophisticated and steady leader along with convincing that nation to move forward instead of being bothered by the past. The rhetorical situation required JFK to come out and unify the nation after the oh so close elections, meanwhile; JFK acquired his purpose through the use of elegantly composed rhetorical devices.

Does anyone know how to approach these PDEs?

Haven't done maths in a year, and now I have a maths paper this semester, really rusty.

Does anybody know how to solve Laplace transforms? This is the first in math I am actually overwhelmed by the letters and numbers.

Whereever you see 1/t change that to s

Completed my Math and English majors this year. Just need 2 stats courses now to complete my stats major. One of them is regression analysis which I’m doing this semester. Does anyone have experience with that?

I did Airline Operations last year and I had to use regression analysis for one of my assignments.

It's pretty simple but very time-consuming and be ready for a headache.

Whereever you see 1/t change that to s

One question is asking:
ℒ{f(t)}.
(Write your answer as a function of s.)
f(t) = e^−t (sin t), where s >-1

I got

ℒ{f(t)} = e^-t (sint) + e^-t (cost)

but idk how to put it in terms of s

Ugh one thing i hate about online classes is there is no partial credit. The homework answer has to be 100% how the website wants it.
