There is no ‘Pakistan way’
It’s the friends with benefits way for captain Babar Azam
This is the new buzz word and phrase that we will be hearing a lot in the coming months.
Let's see what is the Pakistan Way under the new coaching regime and what it entails.

Mickeyball coming up!
There is no ‘Pakistan way’

i hope you do know what friends with benefits means right?
People might make fun, but atleast Mickey actually has a plan and strategy. I'd have him over a clueless Saqlain.

Well, let’s hope that Mickey’s “Pakistan way” is better than Mickey’s “Derbyshire way”….
He’s in his second season there and they are one from bottom of Div 2 (for those who don’t follow English cricket, that, in essence, means 17th out of 18 first class counties)
For that, you will have to get rid of Abdullah Shafique as an opener
From latest PCB release on the NCA camp :

Having players from across the rungs together will also help in inculcating The Pakistan Way in the upcoming players, so they are aware of the expectations of the national side as they continue their journey. This will also help the youngsters to benefit from the experience of the senior side’s players.
Definitely prefer recognising a player's impact on a match as opposed to cutting cakes for milestones.Impact player award is 'interesting'
Not seen this before.
Mickey Arthur while presenting the Impact Player for the Netherlands game:
"Saud Shakeel played a good innings as he came under pressure. He played good shots and showed positive intent"
"That's the kind of cricket we have to play, that's our 'The Pakistan Way',"
Mickey tends to back his boys in public. Wouldn't read too much into such statements. So mickey acknowledges that the way saud plays is how cricket should be played but still forwards imam is a top 5 odi bat? Contradictory statements.

Anyway I hope you now see why many Pakistan fans including myself have a soft corner for Mickey. It's not because I think he's a flawless tactician or holds an incredible W/L record. However as a developer of young talent, Mickey beats most of our previous coaches, local and foreign, hands down.
He gave Babar his Test debut and backed him despite his struggles between 2016-18. You mentioned his demotion to #6 but that was to protect him. Trust me, our trigger happy Pakistani coaches would've booted Babar well before. Babar himself publicly credited Mickey for his support - that was before Mickey's comeback so it wasn't a sucking up attempt. Fakhar, Shadab, Imam and Shaheen also emerged under him during a period where we were crying out for fresh blood in white-ball cricket. When Mickey was first appointed, we were ranked 9th and 7th in ODI and T20 rankings.
IMO he's a big reason why Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel have been pushed out of their comfort zones and upped their SRs recently in stark contrast to their painfully slow batting last year.
The two biggest obstacles to this brand of cricket Mickey outlined are the lack of dynamic, skilled batsmen in Pakistan and Babar's captaincy.
Babar captained superbly in the SL Test series but you see how he reverts to type under pressure. We shouldn't have conceded 344 today. If this "Pakistan Way" is to work, we need a likeminded captain and for our domestic cricketers to understand the new criteria for selection.
Abdullah Shafiq Test and ODI SR:That is fair, I agree with mixkey BTW, The Pakistan way is the way saud/ Abdullah/ Rizwan bat.
That's fair, I agree with you, but imam with mickey, pre mickey is the same. So that statement is still worrying if mickey isn't planning to get rid of him for saim ayub.Abdullah Shafiq Test and ODI SR:
Pre-Mickey - 41.47/40.00 (one ODI to be fair)
Post-Mickey - 61.29/91.38
Saud Shakeel Test and ODI SR:
Pre-Mickey - 41.66/66.33
Post-Mickey - 57.95/122.72
Won't include Rizwan in this as he kinda bats his own way regardless of coaches.
Obviously that's a small sample size of the two SL Tests and a handful of ODIs. Regardless of results hopefully they'll try maintaining this intent throughout the World Cup and in Australia.
That’s not just a reliable sample size to make predictions on.Abdullah Shafiq Test and ODI SR:
Pre-Mickey - 41.47/40.00 (one ODI to be fair)
Post-Mickey - 61.29/91.38

Mohammad Hafeez about the Australian Tour:
“There is always something to gain when you go in any assignment with a positive mindset. As a team, we are excited to take on the challenge. We are going with the mindset to win — we are not thinking about anything else currently. Each player in the squad is looking to enhance their own skills and develop wherever they are lagging, which is really important. We are not looking to counter or challenge a single opposing player, rather we will be looking to dominate as a team. We will play modern-day cricket. Our team goal is to ensure that we win the series as well as maximize results from our available resources. Modern day cricket demands impactful performances. You have to remain ahead of the game and play an aggressive game, which we have to adopt. I believe we need to step out of our comfort zone and show intent towards playing modern-day cricket.”
I have a feeling Pakistan will suprise us all on the tour to Oz, in a pleasant way.Well it didn't really happen did it.
The idea was good, but the execution didn't occur which isn't really a surprise to many.
