How hyped up youngstaas over the years have actually been worth the time and effort discussing them and have managed some degree of a successful international career?
Some of the names over the past decade who have been on hype machine have been:
Anwar Ali = The new Waqar who would run through sides on a whim (atleast he is in the team now and has found sort of a niche eventhough not at the level we hoped for.)
Jamshed Ahmed = Was apparently the most complete fast bowling prospect ever. Wonder what happened.
Mohammad Irshad = Supposed to be a 150 kph+ bowler.
Mansoor Amjad = Talented Sialkot All rounder. No less authority than Woolmer had called him as among the most talented young all rounders he has ever seen.
Shahid Yousuf= Supposed to be the new MoYo
Ehsan Adil = Supposed to be the new Asif. Still very young but somehow I doubt he is going to be anywhere near world class
Babar Azam = Still on the hype machine.
Hammad Azam = Improved version of Razzaq lol. Absolutely limited player
Usman Qadir = Leg spin magician
The list is endless. All were touted to be world class lol)
Im sure there are more than these. Share your opinions on these and any others you have in mind.

I don't see anything wrong with people "hyping" their favorite players. This is a cricket forum and that is what the discussion is going to be about here.
You forgot Kamran Ghulam
Shardeel Khan is back on the hype train![]()
No hype , him being a powerful striker is a fact .
Techinical defieciencies are obvious but you have to work with what you have.
Well he was the best batsman against england lions in the t20 series if i recall correctly , that and his domestic record in addition to a 50 of 20 odd balls in the last t20I he played makes for a good enough case if you look at the competition.People want him in t20 squad based on one performance.
yeah he is knocking the door from quite a while Now but pakistani selectors are too busy to select a hack like iftikhar, rifitullah, and bilal asif just woah waoh to pakistani selectorsWell he was the best batsman against england lions in the t20 series if i recall correctly , that and his domestic record in addition to a 50 of 20 odd balls in the last t20I he played makes for a good enough case if you look at the competition.
Been hearing abt Fakhat Zaman doing well but haven't seen him yet so won't give him the ticket for this train. Who knows he might be the real deal
Been a while since this was discussed.
New inductees since 2016?
At least Babar fulfilled the hype so far.
Rauf, Naseem, Dilbar, Akif , Shadab, Faheem, Saif Badar, Hasnain are all mediocre and overhyped talents.
Dilbar and Akif are already International class as per some here.
Dilbar is almost 28 and has never played a FC/List A game. Has only played 12 T20s at 30+ @ 9.4
Akif has taken 1 wicket in the 3 FC + List A games that he has played.
Can you explain how each one of them is mediocre?

Rauf - not completely fit, can't bowl long spells. Inconsistent line and length.
Naseem - similiar to Rauf, he tends to spray a lot, cannot exploit a batsman's weaknesses, can't setup up batsmen. Uses only skill but absolutely no brain in his bowling. He never bowls in a constrictive manner.
Dilbar - LOL. Sprays it short and wide all the time.
Akif - can't take wickets, just can restrict runs somewhat and even that's quesitonable.
Shadab - He darts it, he doesn't know how to put drift and turn into his deliveries and bowl like a classic Test spinner.
Faheem - very poor batting technoque, awful timer of the ball. Loves bowling full tosses.
Saif Badar - plays a few sexy strokes but that's it. He has no idea how to build an innings and bat for long periods of time. Poor defensive technique as well.
Hasnain - basically a worse Wahab Riaz who is right handed. Just bowls quick, absolutely no control, no swing, no variations.
Haider Ali and Abdullah Shafique are definitely onboard.
Naseem Shah? Most probably he was chucked off the hype train during the England series.
Add Rizwan to the hype train![]()
Akif is a really good talent did you watch the 2 overs he bowled to watson and shezard first the ball went away and then the next ball he ripped watson apart
Dilbar is okay bowler
Expect Naseem to continue to fail with flying colors against the top sides. He talks a good game but unfortunately he does not have the ability and the skill to execute on the pitch.
Most of the upcoming talent need first class experience for a season....and talking of A tours.....we will get the Kashif Bhattis.....Sohail Khans... Akbar ur Rehmans...... Over the deserving Zia ul Haqs Arshad Iqbal Abdullah Shafique Saud Shakeel......Way to much hype about Abdullah Shafique, after only a handful of professional matches. Granted he has got a few 100s but way to early to consider him for the National team. An A tour will suffice , to test his ability , mental strength and to build his confidence.
Just you wait until he sees fear in the batsman's eyes. Zimbabwe are touring soon I hear!
Talented players get discarded too soon and mediocre players get too many opportunities instead.
More like mediocre players rightly kept outside wrongly earn a tag of 'talented', while players given an extended run are found out for the mediocre performers that they are.
For him every bowler is ordinary except Khaleel NATRAJAN Undakat Saini....et all...
Bhabnao ko samjho

Unless you have seen all the batsmen in Pakistan domestic, you are lying here.
Naseem Shah is worth the hype he will be the best bowler in the world in 3-4 years provided PCB manage him well.
No way Abdullah Shafique is 20?
R u alive to eat HUMBLE PIE
