One way we can build a better team is by deciding who has a fixed place in it and who doesn’t.

I’d say

Babar
Amir
Imad
Haris

4/11 players right now have a guaranteed spot in the team. Wahab has been good but will he be around for the next World Cup?

Add Imam to the list, he needs to improve SR otherwise he is technically sound

Add wahab and Shaheen to the list.wahab has been decent with bat and bowled well also remember he has 7 catches dropped off his bowling.I would keep wahab for another year or two.

Mamoon things aren’t as dire as you think. Atleast 5/11 people in this team are quite good. We just need to sort out some issues like finding a dynamic wicket keeper batsman

Wahab has played well but won't be around for the next WC. Shadab should honestly be sent back to domestics for a bit, same with Hasan.

I thought Pakistan just need to persist with younger lot, out goes, Hazfeez, Malik, Sarfraz, Asif. Need work on Hasan. Rest should stay in the team with more youngster getting in.

hell with that, give me 16oz of seniority, i want Malik, Hafeez, and Sarfi... :rabada2

1.Imam
2. Babar(opener)
3. Haris
4.
5.
6. Imad
7.
8.
9.
10.Aamir
11. Shaheen
There are so many spots to be filled up. At no. 4 Rizwan is terrific.

imam
babar
haris
amir
imad
shaheen

wahab has done well but he wont be around for the next world cup .

Why would Shaheen's place not be guaranteed?

Imam
Babar
Sohail
Imad
Shadab
Shaheen
Amir

In reality Fakhar and Sarfaraz are not going anywhere unless Sarfaraz announces his retirement himself.

khushdil shah
saud shakil
mohammad rizwan
zafar gohar
sameen gul

could be the new entries

Pakistan needs to phase out oldies to build a fresh team. No point keeping Wahab in the side even for an year or two.

Babar, Imam, Haris, Imad, Amir, Shadab, Shaheen, Sarfi. Dump that hack Fakhar and the spray gun Hasan. They will persist with Shadab. Sarfi will be the captain as Pak will have 11 points and lost the SF just by NRR.

Wahab will be useful for us in the world t20 cup in Australia ,if he keeps on performing there is no reason to drop him.

Imam would definitely be there. In fact, if Inziman becomes coach or retains his CS post, Imam could be running for captaincy.

Wahab will be useful for us in the world t20 cup in Australia ,if he keeps on performing there is no reason to drop him.

Or he may not be useful - there must be a reason why he keeps losing his spot in the side. Any way you are looking for short term gains. Rather blood a new player and give him an opportunity to play a world cup than persist with Wahab.

And then how many left handed pacers do you want any way? Also Amir, Shaheen, and Wahab would mean no one new gets an opportunity unless someone is injured.

Imam (Pretty much guaranteed after today's innings)
Babar
Haris
Imad
Shadab
Amir
Shaheen

Guys who should come into the mix:

Sharjeel Khan
Saud Shakeel
Haris Rauf
Zafar Gohar
Zeeshan Malik
Mohammad Rizwan

zeeshan malik is not international quality ,replace him with khushdil shah or hussain talat.

He has been brilliant in T20s all round the world he has picked up wickets everywhere in every league he has played.BPL CPL PSL T20 blast, etc. He is better T20 bowler than 50 overs. He should definitely play T20 world cup

Wouldnt it be great that wahab plays a farewell by contributing in winning the asia cup and world t20?If he has the same passion and hunger he should be selected for the team but I do agree this will be wahabs last odi world cup.

Shaheen and Imam will be around. Don't see Shadab being dropped for a while.

We should not go for wholesome changes. Just drop Fakhar, Hafeez & Malik, make Amir the vice-captain and bring in new batting talent.

1. Imam-ul-Haq
2. New Opener (Fakhar Out)
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohial (Move Haris to 4th spot)
5. Sarfraz Ahmed (wk) (c) (Still the most reasonable option, give him a chance if he can recover form)
6. Imad Wasim (Pretty good with the bat )
7. Power Hitter or Allrounder (Hafeez/Malik Out)
8. Wahab Riaz (Can play for 2 more years )
9. Mohammed Aamir
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. Spinner (Shadab Out)

Babart tops the list
Haris tops the list
Shaheen came back so well after few bad games
Imad surprised many but batted so low when he had more potential to be a threat above.
Amir what a comeback just hope it continues and not just a major tournament superstar.
Wahab - age is not on his side no more.

Thats it, rest of them were either failures, let down or just pure garbage.

Imam
Babar
Haris
Imad
Shadab
Shaheen
Amir
Wahab (till he is able to maintan his work ethic)

Imam
Babar
Sohail
Imad
Hasnain
Shaheen
Amir

Other are either rubbish or too old!!!!

I saw the thread start with 4 people
by the end of it, all 11 will be in

Absolutely no reason to kick out Imam, it's not his fault that he is the nephew. The guy is sound, bit slower and rash sometime (Afg game). If he takes care of either being slow or rash, we have a solid opener. Only problem is that we do not have a power hitter in him and Babar, which in this day and age is a liability. But I still believe he needs to be given an extended run.

Malik
Hafeez
Sarfraz

Because Sarfraz is the captain and Malik and Hafeez are the back bone

Out will be

Babar
Haris
Imad

I’m all seriousness the players I’d retain are

Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Haris
Imad
Amir
Shaheen

I would have this team for next odi series :

1. Abid Ali
2. Imam ul Haq
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Rizwan
6. Imad Wasim (C)
7. Aamer Yamin
8. Shadab Khan
9. Shaheen Afridi
10. Amir
11. Hasnain

12. Zafar Gohar
13. Saud Shakeel
14. Haris Rauf
15. Khushdil Shah

Imad will have to learn to put spin on the ball.He is also suspect against short pitched bowling. If he can spin the ball sharply and improve his batting then his spot is safe.

Imam ul Haq
Haris Sohail
Babar Azam
Mohammad Rizwan
Maybe Umar Akmal? Or a new batsman
New batsman
Imad Wasim
A new spinner
Mohammad Amir
Shaheen Shah Afridi
New fast-bowler

Something like this maybe?

Today Shahdab and Imad bowling looked very mediocre.
Malik and Hafeez are definitely out from ODI, T20 and Test cricket.

I would only retain Babar Azam, Harris Sohail, Shaheen Afrdi, and Mohammad Amir. everyone else has to fight to earn their spot in the team.

I guess Amir, Haris, Imad and Shaheen can say they performed up to the required standard

The rest fall into the either did ok, or must be looking over their shoulder category.

Some must seriously be worried about their future at the moment like Fakhar, Hasan Ali.

5. Mohammad Rizwan (or someone better)
6. Batsman allrounder
7. Bowling allrounder
8. New Spinner

10. Shaheen Shah Afridi
11. New fast-bowler

We should try out Haider Ali (U-19) and Rohail Nazir (U-19).

Also need to find a late middle-order hard hitter who can smack sixes with ease and has a brain.

Bowling isn’t much a problem we have many spinners in the domestic scene and we have a lots of fast-bowling talent coming through.

It is the batting which we need to worry about.

Sarfaraz and Hafeez need a boot but I am concerned they might be persisted with.

Malik has retired thank God!

Amir needs to add more gas in his tank if he wants to be around, had an average last few games. Shinwari and others are knocking on the doors.

Babar did better than just ok. Breaking record for most runs by Pak batsman in a WC.

Cemented:

Imam
Babar
Imad
Amir
Wahab (shelf-life limited)
Shaheen

Ousted:

FZ (exposed)
Hafeez
Sarfraz (on the cusp of being dropped)
Malik (retired)
Hasan Ali

Babar, Harris, Amir and Shaheen. Possibly Wahab as well.

1. Fakhar zaman
He already look 35. So no point to continue with him.
Replacement : sharjeel khan ( but i would not recommend that, haris sohail maybe.
2. Imam ul haq
He is learning i think, should continue with him atleast 8 more years.
3.babar azam
Perfect spot for emerging star.
4.hafeez
I think professor is done.
Replacement: what options you have on number 4? I don't find anyone right now. Might imad will work nicely with number 4.
5.sarfraz ahmed
Should stick to t20 only. Play next t20 worldcup and forget cricket.
6.wahab raiz
Gujjar plz retire ho jao.
Replacement : need new find who can score some quick runs.
7.shadab khan
Personally shadab should go back to FC.
Replacement : zafar gohar?
8.haris sohail
Need to work on fitness.
Replacement: replace him with fakhar
9.amir
He is skinny don't know why? Dietician need to work with amir. Grunting on almost every ball.
10.ssa
Should continue with him and polish him more.
11.imad
Captain? If he will loose some weight and learn new Variations.

Going forward, I would like this setup.

Imam
Haider Ali
Babar
Haris
Said Badar
Rohail Nazir
Imad Wasim/Zafar Gohar
Amir
Naseem Shah
Shaheen
Hasnain/Haris Rauf

Stick with this lineup and develop them and reap the fruits in 2023.

I would add Haris in the list of cemented and Shadab (as a failed allrounder) in ousted.

I wouldn’t carry Riaz much longer. We’re better off grooming Hasnain and Rauf.

very interesting but few questions

1) Are Haider Ali, Rohail NAzir and Naseem Shah physically strong enough to counter the fatigue and pressure of international cricket? ... maybe not.. given them a solid year in domestic? they are skill-terms ready but little polish now would probably be good for them ...

2) Umer Khan? the office left armer? i think is a must... ahead of zafar gohar..
3) Wahab... i have hated him for a long long time but his performance in the wc forced me to change my mind a little bit.. i will stick with him for atleast a year ..

replacements

1) Imam
2)Abid Ali

4_Harris
5)Saif Badar / Khushdil Shah
6)Rizwam
7)Imad
8)Shadab
9)Wahab
10)Aamir
11) Shaheen Shah

Harris Rauf, M Husnnain, Aamir Yamin, Umar Khan, Usman Shinwari, Saif Badar should all be in the loop ...and Harris Rauf, M Hussnain, Aamir, Wahab , Shaheen Shah, 3 of these 5 should play with everyone getting games and rest...

Well put. Agreed.

Well put. Agreed.

Thanks mate.

Shadab is a good prospect but a lot of work needs to be done on him.

We need to give other spinners a go.

It was absolutely criminal for Shadab to go for as many runs as he has on slow wickets... He's a great fielder and has potential with the bat but for now should stick to domestic.

If we get rid of the senior and pick some new and young players , the future looks exciting. But if we stick with the seniors and revert to TTFs, the future looks bleak for a few years. Wouldn't trust Inzi to select the right players. So hopefully he is sacked.

hahahahahahahah .... so harris sohail who was the man behind the turn around for pak in the WC is to be shown the door ...... some people are soooo funny here lol

Lol, how some people didn't even try to read whole post. I meant fakhar zaman need to be dropped and haris sohail open with imam.

1). They will get only stronger by playing international cricket and if they are kept for one year in the ranks, that will give the toxic management excuses not to play them later on.

2). Gohar is a better fielder and batsman than Umer Khan. The latter is still a little raw while Gohar has been ready for years.
