Abdul Razzaq speaking on TV:

"The present players in the team are just playing for themselves, their goal is to score their slow selfish 50's to save their spots in the team at the expense of the team"

"The team came with a target score of 250 in mind"

"Hafeez and Sarfaraz slowed down and played too many dot deliveries in the middle overs, if Hafeez can score 20 plus runs in the final over, why did he not try to hit out early on, why did they leave the assault in the final over? They should have tried to go beserk from over 42 onwards"

"We are still playing a very outdated brand of cricket and have not kept up with the world. Now every batsman looks to hit from ball one, no one takes the game to the final overs anymore, no one leaves their assault to the final 10 overs anymore while batting first"

"As a batsman you have to spend countless hours in the nets practicing your big hitting abilities, batsmen need to practice hitting straight down the ground, practice hitting across the line, with experience you learn to read the bowler better for e.g. if you smash his bouncer or short of a length ball, you know the bowler is going to overcompensate and bowl a yorker or a slower delivery, you can guage what the bowler is trying to do by looking at the field, by looking at past video tapes e.t.c"

"What is the coaching staff doing? Why did the Pakistani bowlers waste the new ball by bowling so many slower deliveries and cross seam deliveries?"

"If Amir is your strike bowler, why is he not completing his full quota of 10 overs in every match?"

"The pacers have gone soft in the last few years, there is no real hunger to represent and do well for Pakistan, in the back of their minds they now know full well that even if they don't get selected for Pakistan, they have the safety net of the T-20 leagues around the world. The board needs to clamp down hard and needs to curb the participation of these players in low quality T-20 leagues and the bowlers need to bowl long spells in domestic cricket"

"The amount of love, adulation, gifts, financial rewards the team received from the CT victory was disproportionate to what they actually deserved"

awesome remarks. Hafeez's strike rate was 79 until the last over.

Unlike some other ex cricketers who criticise for the sake of criticising and just sound bitter, the Razzler points out exactly what is wrong with the team today. Hope someone is listening bit I doubt it.

Trademark Razzler phrase "Aik to mujhe Samajh nahin aa rahee, kissi ne inko Aqal nahin dee"

He's hilarious, really makes for an entertaining watch! Great addition to the show, hope he continues beyond this series! Tells it like it is instead of sugarcoating things.

Another thing he said "pichley teen matchoan sey toa mein khul kay bol raha hun" :)))

First 2/3rds of of what he said is very accurate. Last one third is rubbish

Great comments from one hell of a player, he certainly can't be accused of playing for himself during his career. He should have achieved more under better management but gave us so many amazing memories, could do with another Razzaq!

Fahim Ashraf and Aamir Yamin have potential. Both are very solid hitters. Instead of Fahim opening the batting, Pakistan needs a Sharjeel Khan type opener. Fahim and Yamin can be exploited for the final 10-15 overs.

He's right about the gifts, money etc..
The players were being awarded flats, cars and money from left right and centre.

And in return we get 0-4 approaching a complete whitewash.

Generally agree with him. Except maybe the Amir point

Amir may or may not be the strike bowler (probably not right now)- but I see no reason that he has to complete his quota just for the sake of it.

If Amir genuinely doesn't look like taking a wicket, let someone else have a go

Then Amir should be benched in that case.

He is right.

Azhar
Babar
Hafeez
Malik

but I don't blame Babar.

We should bring back Shehzad who is a better batsman than Tendulkar.

Everyone plays for themselves there is nothing new in this.

Even you played for yourself and so did everyone since Pakistan entered into cricket.

Razzaq is a soldier, who made us proud many times.he speaks straight from heart.he is Damn right about players playing for them self, the biggest example is that mr proffesor, who has never played a good innings under pressure,he will score a 50 or 70 after 5 innings and secure his place for next series.

Sahizada Farhan has potential as an opener, Fahim is not an opener and he probably was sent up as a sacrificial lamb when other dead weight was retained. Both Fahim and Yamn have potential but will need so much support from management, many guys like Stokes, Woakes and Pandya have thrived not just because they are very good cricketers; but also due to support from management and being given opportunities to thrive. But there's only one Razzaq, would be surprised if either are able to live up to his legend.

He is right about some of the batsmen playing for themselves and looking to score 50s to keep their place.

This has been a problem for a long while, probably the last 10 years.
