A PCB official confirmed that talks were underway with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to finalise the dates and venues for the series, but the window would be from April 13 to 24.

The official said that the series, being held in preparation for the T20 World Cup this year, would probably be staged in Lahore and Rawalpindi, as Karachi would be hosting a series between the Pakistan and West Indies women’s teams around the same time.

Pakistan played a five-match T20 series in January 2024, which New Zealand won 4-1.

The Pakistan team, after the Pakistan Super League, will be involved in a series of T20 matches against Afghanistan, New Zealand, and England ahead of the World Cup in June in the USA and the West Indies.

Pakistan in the last two years has been able to host a number of international teams, including top-ranked sides like Australia, England and New Zealand.

Will this series add value to Pakistan's preparations for the ICC T20I World Cup 2024?

Going to play Afghanistan too... I don't think that was in the FTP but it is good to see.

A lot of our players like Saim/Haris/Azam/Farhan/Jamal etc simply just need more reps in T20's. Maybe some of their squads will be a bit weaker due to IPL but regardless, the most important issue for Pakistan is getting reps to their younger players and figuring out their best XI.

Two reasons.

Firstly T20 is a format to try out new talent and create a pool of players.

Secondly certain exceptional talents get fast tracked like bowlers who bowl 150ks plus, mystery spinners, and batters that you can see have the skill, technique and temperament etc.

A recent example is Abdullah Shafique and the likes of Waqar and Wasim etc.

I get that T20 brings in the money, but Pakistan badly needs to play ODIs & Test cricket to hone the skills of its players. Pakistan plays way fewer Tests and ODIs compared to the top teams.

A T20 series right before the World T20 is not a bad idea (even if against a depleted side).

But, Pakistan should manage workload well. Not all players need to play all games (to prevent injuries).

Before New Zealand tour to Pakistan a two member security delegation reached Pakistan

A two-person security group from Cricket New Zealand has arrived in Pakistan to assess the security situation.

The delegation, which also comprises independent security experts and the New Zealand Players Association, will examine the first phase's arrangements in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as well as the second phase's arrangements for the team accommodation and stadium in Lahore.

New Zealand is set to go to Pakistan for five Twenty20 matches in April. According to the suggested schedule the squad is expected to land in Pakistan on April 14.

According to the schedule, the first T20 between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played on April 18.

NZ scared off by an indian threat and then running off on the next plane.

Then the NZ board then tried defending that farcical "threat" with five eyes nonsense and then the press release came where they spoke with the PCB behind the scenes to resolve the matter which obviously meant compensation plus a 5 match T20 series for this year.

NZ offer nothing commercially and hold little to no weight and know it would be foolish for them to pull another silly stunt.

With regards to the PCB it has plenty of financial resources but unfortunately there are too many fake admin staff and others that loot the board money because of connections.

Director International PCB, Usman Wahla and Director Security Department PCB, Col. Khalid accompanied the delegation during the visit.

The delegation was briefed by the PCB officials regarding security arrangements for the T20I series against New Zealand in April. The delegation on the tour had also traveled to Rawalpindi to inspect security arrangements for the New Zealand side.

Nothing has been official yet but it will be good if it happens. Can try new guys in series who are doing well in PSL.
