Once regarded as one of Pakistan's fastest bowlers and brightest hopes, Mohammad Talha has so far only managed to play 7 times for Pakistan without any earth-shattering performances.

He was expected to be a spearhead for Pakistan but if the truth be told he flattered to deceive.

The last time I saw him bowl he was bowling around 80mph and without too much consistency.

Another sad tale of a Pakistani cricketer who failed to live up to expectations.

Should stay around the team imo. Needs to work up back to good pace. He can swing new ball away. Express bowler. He should focus on pace.

He was hyped up and all became evident when we saw him play international cricket.

I wont call it a rise unless he at least had a decent start to his career. He just never came to the party.

Totally forgot about him. Remember him and Mohammad Amir bowling in tandem back in 2008, where both were picking up loads of wickets for NBP, if I am not mistaken?

Currently just picked up 5 wickets in 4 first class innings, this season...

One of the main reasons why Pakistan won the asia cup match against India. Giving less than 4 per over and picking up 2 crucial wickets.

Talha never rose.

It's not a sad tale because he was mediocre. Should've never been selected in the first place.

Did he twice thrice clock 150 plus and once 154kph in Sarfraz Nawaz's bowling camp 6 , 7 years ago ?

What is the official truth about it ?

He played on some total dead wickets like Bangladesh that didn't help his cause.

He has some talent but he experiments far too much, should have just kept his lengths simple.

bowlers are hyped to no limits second coming of amir aka junaid khan, where he at thou? and mr talha fastest bowler is whole country!

please stop saying 80 is an express bowler. only 90+ should be an express bowler

Just not good enough. His pace declined and his pace was always in the low 130's from his second spell onwards. Was mediocre against Sri lanka and was absolutely destroyed by Mccullam. Got taken to the cleaners by Shakib and other Bangladeshi batsmen as well.

How times have changed? Talha was considered a more reliable bowler by Domestic Analysts compared to Wahab Riaz who everyone used to consider as a wild scattergun.

No idea and I don't believe that he ever clocked 150 or probably the speed guns were faulty.

In his last couple of outings talha didnt have any attributes of a decent pace bowler He had neither the pace nor the control

He actually never got a proper chance.

You don't judge a player based on three or four matches.

What rise?

He was awful

Hopefully won't be back anytime soon

Saj i was talking to sohaib maqsood and he told me that mohammad talha with new ball is the hardest bowler to face in domestic

Sohaib Maqsood's last scene form suggests that most new ball bowlers in domestic would be the hardest for him to face.

Never had exceptional first class figures. So not a surprise that he never made it.

Pace was his bread and butter.

He lost that and didn't have much to fall back on. Needs to put in the hard work now to make a comeback.

I dont know. I would doubt it but he may have. However the thing is clocking 150+ a few times doesnt mean ANYTHING. Umar Gul has had several spells of around 150kph but because his average speed is way lower no one in their right mind would call him EXPRESS.

I dont think Talha was ever an express bowler though.

Mohammad Irshad was one who for long was touted as a very very fast bowler and I can confirm he was a 138-140kph bowler. But the way he was talked about even by 'experts' was as if he is second coming of Shoaib

Talha looked more promising to me than Hasnain, Rauf and Naseem do.

Unfortunately he could not recover from the McCullum onslaught.

Talha's fastest delivery in his opening spell was 144 km/hr. In his second and third spell he was operating around 137-138 km/hr and in his other remaining spells he slowed down to 129-132 km/hr. And this guy was apparently the fastest bowler around in Pakistan. Glad he was shown the door

You’ve actually answered your own question.

If a bowler is able to touch 144kph but cannot sustain that, it is a question of fitness and stamina, not a question of talent. That is to say, this guy just didn’t put in the hard yards - otherwise his action is actually conducive to high pace bowling.

Unfortunately, him and many of the same generation refused to put in the work and failed to make their big names. That’s no one’s fault but his, but no doubt under good management he could have been better incentivized to work harder.

Was a brainless bowler with okayish talent.
People who compare natural fast bowlers like Naseem and Rauf to him are really missing the trick.

3 matches, 8 wickets for him in QeA 2nd XIs.

In Round 5, Day 1:

For Balochistan Muhammad Talha took four wickets (4/24)
