The endless debate about seniors in Pakistan cricket just never ends, and the ODI series vs Sri Lanka only confirmed that. Babar, after multiple failures and no real improvement in his overall game, scores a century and with all due respect, against an attack that was below average at best. The most embarrassing part was the Pakistani commentators, like Amir Sohail and Waqar Younis, basically waiting for Babar to get to his 100 and making the entire match irrelevant. Can you imagine former Australian or English players putting that much emphasis on a century in a meaningless bilateral game?

Then you had the man himself, after the match, acting like he had won Pakistan a famous ICC knockout game. The standards these guys have are unbelievably low. There’s no skill development, no fitness culture, and no hunger at all. Just be honest and tell me does Babar in any way look like a pro athlete?

The final ODI also made no sense: Saim “resting” while Babar, Fakhar, and Rizwan kept playing. Why do seniors need to feature in these meaningless games while youngsters sit out?

And the approach today… why not challenge yourselves and try to finish the chase inside 40 overs? It’s become an environment of softies who get exposed every time they face a decent team.

As for the coach, it makes no difference. Mike Hesson is just a puppet and he proved that first in the Asia Cup and now again in the series vs Sri Lanka!

We were advocating for Rizwan to be rested but Alas team mgmt never listened to it. Nevertheless there are still some positives like WasimJr. Abrar and Faisal Akram giving performance

It is quite sad to see and I didn't bother watching much of the matches.

Time and time again this happens. The seniors take up spots and don't even have guts to at least rotate their positions.

We gave a chance to a young keeper batsman but never had the guts to drop the current keeper batsman :rofl

Same fast bowlers are trialled time and time again too.

T20 squad is a shambles.

Our guys don't seem to understand the concept of bilaterals.

Hesson and Aqib do.

They actually did take pakistan initially on the right track. But even they succumbed to player power/media pressure and stupid fan pressure.

Bringing Babar back in T20 has basically sealed it for Pakistan even if by some way or form Babar doesn’t make it into the final squad.

The team is gone. The World Cup is over.

I agree, we didn't really make any progress in this series. It's the same bunch of players playing the same brand of cricket, which will inevitably fail in pressure games.

Beating up a hapless Sri Lankan and a severely weakened South Africa at home is nothing to get excited about to be honest.

Was excited about T20, but Babar and Usman coming back in that team has dampened the spirits there aswell.

Aqib has the position to change this but time and time again has failed.

I believe he is directly responsible.

POTW for me - these were exactly my thoughts all through yesterday’s game

Apart from Akram, What did we even learn from this dead rubber yesterday?

Babar can accumulate?
Rizwan can accumulate?
Talat can accumulate?

Beyond belief

Upcoming tri series is the best chance to give rest to senior players. No need for Babar, Shaheen, Haris to play this series

And that’s the frustrating part. I tried to watch yesterday evening since it was a free evening and all you want is to see your team play, but watching Talat and Rizwan bat was just painful. Seeing Waqar defending them on air, saying it was the right move to keep wickets in hand and take the game deep, as if they were playing Australia in a semi-final knockout, made it even worse.

Seriously depressing to watch.

Aamir Sohail too. Not just Waqar.

Im not a big fan of Talat. But don't begrudge him time in the middle. He has been selected and needs to show what he's got. He will understandably be nervous because as a newbie you don't have a long life in Pakistan.

He should have opportunities in previous matches too to come up the order and show what he can do.

But we have seen enough of Babar, Rizwan,Haris Rauf. Their runs and wickets don't mean much in these games. Yet they keep on hogging up time at the crease.

It was no suprise that most of us watched the emerging game rather than see this same script play out again and again.

@gazza619 @Kianig89 @Raja Ishtiaq were glued to their sets watching Rizwan’s masterclass off 60 from 90 balls

And then they tuned in after Pakistan Shaheen’s won to tell everyone that “Maaz Sadaqat shouldn’t be rushed into the side because we have a better option in Rizwan waiting”

Playing him as a specialist batsman in a non important match was one of the worst things Ivd seen Pakistan do.

I don't dislike the guy, but it shows our strategy and mindset is still backwards if this type of batting is celebrated.

Maaz Sadaqat is not in competition with Riz.

Usman Khan, Haseebullah, M Haris & Azam Khan are Riz’s competitors

Therefore your claim doesn’t make any sense.

Don’t try to think to much to make sense of anything. It’s pointless for you anyways.

Agreed, but even with Talat it was a good opportunity to showcase a different side to him than the “singgaaal dabbaaal” we already know about. One boundary, and that too the winnings runs is beyond a joke.

Yes it wasn’t a massive target and if this was a must win World Cup knock out game then the approach can be defended, but in a dead rubber, you can’t play some shots? Any shots?

Any batsman is in competition with Riz. He played as a batsman yesterday and even if we pick another keeper, it seems the management see Rizwan as no4 regardless. So he is holding up a middle order place whichever way you try and spin it.

On a serious note, aren’t you guys bored? Are you really satisfied with this boring, stale approach? Honestly,

It seems like boring, useless bekaar cricket is a Nasha for them. It’s fine, enjoy that ecstasy in Test cricket…but don’t insist on that to be enforced in formats it has no business in.

Waqar's commentary was just infuriating throughout this series. It always is, but his blind support for nothingness was so painful to listen to. There was a moment in one of the matches where Babar poked a drive to the cover fielder and Waqar went on a one minute rant about what a beautiful and elegant drive that was and how good he looks and that he's doing well out there. Literally raving about his shot that resulted in no runs.

How embarrassing it is to have commies like Waqar and Amir Sohail who the rest of the world must be making laughing stocks out of.

Babar, Riz, and Haris playing all these matches gives me traumatic memories of our preparations for the 2023 world cup for which we played the same group of players every single game in every single series and created no bench strength and had to pull someone like Hasan Ali out of nowhere when Naseem got injured.

Rizwan and Babar have destroyed half of this decade of Pakistan cricket by holding down their spots, leaving no room for growth and improvements. This could end up being the worst decade for Pakistan cricket and it's going to come down to these two.

There was hope that with change in captaincy and management, we could see a breathe of fresh air but clearly the mafia influence is powerful and heavy upon anyone who takes these positions of leadership.

Riz is our main keeper and always will be in ODIs and tests. Just a matter of time before he comes back in T20s and replaces the kachra that is Usman Khan.

Riz is not competing against Maz or other aggressors. Why is this so hard for you guys to swallow?

Another feather in Mohsin Naqvi's cap - these are all his appointments and under his watch.

Riz is apparently competing with keepers how? By batting in the middle order or late middle order in T20s? Where has he done that??

Riz’s batting order is not Riz’s choice. It is the team management’s decision. Go ask them.

And would you believe it Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Sufiyan Muqeem and Abbas Afridi are invisible from T20 side. Masterclass by seniors and management.

its only logical. If a player is not captain then that player cant decide when they bat or bowl. It is the captain’s call.
So it was which captain’s call to have Farhan bat at 7 and Rizwan open with Haseebullah??

Where has Rizwan batted at 4-7 in T20s which serves as proof that he’s a better option than Harris and Usman???

Unfortunately, we don't have too many high quality commentators so we have to listen to these same guys in almost all of our home matches.

I don’t dwell on the past. I don’t have time for it. Let’s discuss the series concluded this season.

Do us and yourself a favour then.

Don’t dwell on anything. If you can’t answer questions that clearly catch out your deception, then don’t try to enforce agendas here!

The trauma of 2024 T20 WC may repeat in upcoming 2026T20 WC. The way things are being planned in last few months, Babar & Rizwan will take the opening spot soon in T20s, it's only a matter of time.

@Raja Ishtiaq was right. It is pointless discussing anything with you.
Yes, there is no discussing nonsense with me.

Let’s see you wriggle out of your own argument. So you say that the captain and management decide where Rizwan bats and not him? That’s your argument?

Tell me then, what happened in the 3rd T20i against Australia last year? Who was the captain? Why did he sit out of the team? What exactly happened?

Dont care about last year. You always live in the past. Please feel to discuss history topic with your buddies.

Ok let’s talk about the present. Are you happy with the stale, boring approach? Do you ever want to Pakistan to break out of it or is it a case of as long as babar and Rizwan play where they want you don’t care?

His argument is to enforce a present based on a perceived success in the past.

I dont want kachra like Usman Khan, M Haris & Azam Khan to ever play for Pakistan again. If you know of any better w/k batters than Riz, then I am all ears 👂 👂

You are not desh ka Choudhary!

You are entitled to an opinion

And we are entitled to call out your nonsense! Your argument is based on pure nonsense! You haven’t provided ANY proof to suggest Rizwan is better than Harris, Azam or Usman in the positions Pakistan will use them as their keeper Batsman! None whatsoever!

@Raja Ishtiaq jee, ki kariye..?

Like it or not :Riz will be back in the T20 set up soon Insha Allah.
I wouldn’t mind it, the only way he will be gone forever is when he embarrasses himself and his nation like he has done time and time again in the past.

Let him end this once and for all InshaAllah!

Riz can bat at any number. That’s the beauty of the genius.
Again. That’s a lie.

There is no proof to your claim. Of course you can put him down to bat at number 9 if you want. Can he “bat” there or any position? If he can, where is the proof??

As much as I fear a repeat of the trauma, fortunately Farhan and Saim have performed enough to make PCB look embarrassing if they are dropped or demoted. I see them retaining the opening spots with Babar coming in at 3.

But I do fear Rizwan coming in at 4 because of their no wicketkeeper excuse and if he comes in at 4 then we are absolutely done for. I'd rather have Farhan keep than have Riz in a t20 batting lineup. Though I do not mind giving Haris more chances.

I didn’t ask about that - stop dodging the question and just tell me if you’re happy with the stale approach? Do you want Pakistan to continue playing like cowards for the foreseeable?

Well we've watched 3 World Cups where this was the case, and one can only be deluded or seriously want Pakistan to lose if they want to see repeated results.
When a team loses, it is the team who lost. Not individuals. The team as a whole failed. But haters put blame on few as part of their agenda.

Sorry but you are the one dodging the question. Why do you feel so proud supporting 💩 players like Usman, Haris & Azam Khan?

You must understand that cricket is a team support. One or two players can only have so much impact.

Rehnde!

Says the guy who blames everyone in the batting order besides Babar and Rizwan! Keep this fake gyaan to yourself!

@Raja Ishtiaq jee, ki kariye..?

Never argue with a fool because people from a distance can't tell who is who lol

If Rizwan plays 10 innings and performs in 8 innings but fails in two, @Rana will make a rola about them two innings.

Meanwhile the guy has been a cheerleader for that hack farhan for that one innings against India and keeps talking about it. Lol

This is the kind of shameless person you are dealing with. Is liye kehta hoon don't bother.

These guys would rather have Chahat Fateh Ali Khan keep wickets.

Thats how much blinded they are in their hate for Riz.
Rizwan can keep wickets in Test and ODI

In T20 he has no business. He is a curse. If he’s not a T20 player, then HES NOT A T20 PLAYER!

Deal with it!

f Rizwan plays 10 innings and performs in 8 innings but fails in two, @Rana will make a rola about them two innings.
Absolutely not ya 🤡

I have always maintained….whether Rizwan scores runs, or doesn’t score runs….RIZWAN IS A FAILURE REGARDLESS!!

He averaged 47 in T20 and has been written off in the format! What does it suggest about the assessment I have just mentioned above??
