The endless debate about seniors in Pakistan cricket just never ends, and the ODI series vs Sri Lanka only confirmed that. Babar, after multiple failures and no real improvement in his overall game, scores a century and with all due respect, against an attack that was below average at best. The most embarrassing part was the Pakistani commentators, like Amir Sohail and Waqar Younis, basically waiting for Babar to get to his 100 and making the entire match irrelevant. Can you imagine former Australian or English players putting that much emphasis on a century in a meaningless bilateral game?
Then you had the man himself, after the match, acting like he had won Pakistan a famous ICC knockout game. The standards these guys have are unbelievably low. There’s no skill development, no fitness culture, and no hunger at all. Just be honest and tell me does Babar in any way look like a pro athlete?
The final ODI also made no sense: Saim “resting” while Babar, Fakhar, and Rizwan kept playing. Why do seniors need to feature in these meaningless games while youngsters sit out?
And the approach today… why not challenge yourselves and try to finish the chase inside 40 overs? It’s become an environment of softies who get exposed every time they face a decent team.
As for the coach, it makes no difference. Mike Hesson is just a puppet and he proved that first in the Asia Cup and now again in the series vs Sri Lanka!
