The variety of cultural wedding conditions in the Subcontinent

The pakistani wedding ceremony was influenced by the cultural setting that if you have a nikkah, mhendi, barat and walima, than that is considered a proper wedding. If you skip any one of the event that was not considered a proper marriage. Any event missed was consider a marriage of poor people.

The tradition of having a nikkah, mhendi, barat and walima wasnt an expensive endeavor 40 years back. As marriages were done by having a makeshift tent and having food made in daig. Most of the people that used to attend were neighborhood people.

Marriage expenses in Pakistan started to boost up due to the concept of marriage hall. The food became a per head endeavor. Than came the photography culture, where people want to show everyone on social media their pics. Than recent trends of Ambanis and Influencers have week or month long marriages has started to attract people aswell. For some reason, this has become a power flex where week long qawalis are being held....

Covid did put a stop on this though. During Covid, alot of people started to do only nikkah and Walima, which helped in normalizing things and alot of relatives had issue with this, but than realize that having one off event really saves alot of money.

Also, in recent years i find it abit funny how this propaganda has started that dowry is a bad thing. But ignoring the fact that the grooms family is suppose to buy gold and clothes for the bride.....

Expensive marriage is silly.

Imagine doing a lavish wedding and the couple divorce 3 years after that. LOL. All the money gone down the drain.

Everything should be done in moderation.

It has happened. I have seen many dumb families sell a plot of land take a loan to fund their daughters/sons marriage only for the marriage to end in divorce.

Thats the difference between our culture and western culture. In our culture, we do weddings on parents expense. Money is spent and wasted foolishly, the marriage compatibility is not checked based upon personality compatibility but on the basis of family wealth which often runs out.

In west, the marriage isnt funded by parents, its funded by the groom and bride themselves. So basically they spend the money which they themselves have earned so they know where to spend money and how to use the rest of the amount to build a future.
 

Mumbai shocker: Colleague kills friend for making fun of his broken marriage​





A colleague killed his friend in Mumbai for taunting him about his broken marriage. The two worked together in a catering business and belonged to the same village in the Madhubani district of Bihar.​


New Delhi:
In a shocking incident in Mumbai's Malad, a colleague killed his friend, who taunted him and made fun of his broken marriage. The accused, named Ganesh Mandal and the deceased Dilkhush Sah worked together in the same catering company and were close to each other.

The two friends belonged to the same village in the Madhubani district of Bihar. As reported, Dilkhush used to tease and make fun of Mandal's broken marriage and used to taunt him that his wife had "left him." The taunts did not go well with Mandal as he took the life of his colleague.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night at around 12:25 AM, both were going to their catering for their work when an argument broke out between them near the Lifeline Hospital in Malad West. The argument turned into a fight as an enraged Mandal pulled out the knife he carried for cutting vegetables and struck Dilkhush on the neck. The victim collapsed on the spot, bleeding heavily, while the accused fled.

Meanwhile, people nearby saw the injured and informed the police, who took Dilkhush to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctors.

Based on statements from the eyewitnesses and information provided by local residents, the police soon traced the accused, Ganesh Mandal, and arrested him.

An officer from Malad Police Station said that a murder case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). After being produced in court on Thursday, he was remanded to five days of police custody.

It becomes abit frustrating where there are multiple functions, dances, qawali nights etc. Its as if everyone tries to pretend they are some kind of celebrity and need attention.

If you want to invite me, just invite me to a walima, let me have food and thats it.

I dont give a crap about the rasams or the money exchange that goes on or the stupid cringe dances.

It becomes a bit funny seeing the same people on mhendi, barat and walima.

In a shocking incident, a bride was allegedly shot at by her former lover during her wedding ceremony in Chausa in Bihar’s Buxar district. The incident happened during the "jaimala" (exchange of garlands) ceremony on Tuesday night (February 24) under the jurisdiction of the Mufassil police station, according to a Times of India report.
The incident triggered panic and chaos at the wedding venue. According to preliminary information, the wedding procession had arrived in Chausa from Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district.

What Happened During the Jaimala?​


Wedding rituals were underway, and as the bride stepped onto the stage for the jaimala, a young man from the neighbourhood suddenly climbed onto the stage.

Before anyone could react, the accused allegedly shot at the bride. The bride collapsed on the stage after being hit and sustaining serious injuries. The sudden attack caused chaos at the wedding venue, with guests and villagers running in panic.

The injured bride was immediately rushed to the local Sadar Hospital, where doctors provided first aid and later referred her to Varanasi after her condition was declared critical.
Medical sources said the gunshot injury affected a sensitive part of her body, making her condition serious. She is currently undergoing treatment in Varanasi.

Accused Fled The Venue​


After carrying out the attack, the accused fled the spot. Residents claim the incident is linked to a love affair, stating that the accused was the bride’s neighbour and that the two were allegedly in a relationship.
It is believed that the accused was upset over the woman's marriage and carried out the attack in anger.
However, police are investigating whether the act was premeditated or committed in a moment of rage. On receiving information, police from the Mufassil police station reached the spot, collected evidence from the wedding venue, and recorded statements of eyewitnesses.
Raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding accused. Police officials said the accused has been identified and assured that he would be arrested soon.
“The matter is being investigated from all angles. Strict legal action will be taken,” officials said.
