"There is a bit of disappointment at not being selected but I don't lose hope" : Fawad Alam

Fawad Alam speaking on TV:

"My work is to perform and keep doing what I need to do."

"You need to stay fit and train in preparation for the season so that helps me to be ready for FC cricket."

"There is a bit of disappointment at not being selected but I don't lose hope. I just look to the future and try to perform in any form of cricket that I can play."

"Every player needs to know how to play every format. I know how to play in every format. There is hearsay about a player being only suited to a particular format and one can't do anything about that."

"When I was dropped from the ODI team in 2011, I was third in list of the top scorers. No reason was given and I didn't know why I was dropped. Same thing happened before the World Cup. I don't know why I was dropped. I had won us a couple of matches and had good performances. A player can't do anything about this. I just get on with my work."

"A cricketer doesn't mind playing any role as he enjoys playing cricket anyway. Younis Khan told me that big players don't worry about what number they bat at. He said that I should just give my 100% no matter what position I am instructed to bat at. So wherever I bat, I try to play according to the team's requirements and do my best."

Such a shame that he is not even in any PSL squad. Has to me the most unfortunate cricketer of all time. Even Rizwan got a test cap ahead of him. The only time he had a chance, Malik came back to play just one series.

Pak clearly has a vacancy at #4. I want Malik to play at #6 (like Dhoni) as a finisher, sth Pak lacked vs WI.

#4 shall be filled by either Fawad or Hafeez for the time being. Later the slot might be taken by Haris once he's fit.

Good batsman. Played very well in Asia Cup. He was dropped without any sound justification.

Good attitude by Fawad, i like how he never makes any bad statements.

Misbah also suffered like he did, hopefully Fawad will also have a long career as captain when he gets his another chance.

But its important that he doesn't give up and keeps working hard. Many players have given up but i hope he doesnt.

He hasn't done well this season, tells me he has lost motivation

He was one of the Pakistani batsmen that I think hardly throws his wicket away, when he came to bat once with his facial hair and long hair it seemed as if I was seeing Mangal Pandey, yeah he bashed the living daylight of the Bangladesh bowlers, I was at the stadium, my first match in the stadium, chased down 300+ :afridi

Gotta feel for him. Once Misbah and Younis retire hopefully we can see a top order of:

Azhar
Sami
Babar
Haris
Fawad
Yamin(or any other fast bowling all rounder)
Sarfraz

Would be a top notch side!

Should be tried in tests.

Failure in ODI's in my opinion.

Not a typical batting style: an odd one that's why having trouble in selection. Most of the times performed and played well innings. Need not to worry, there is a hope.

3 players can play in Test's and ODI's for PAK and that is Babar, Sarfraz and Fawad. He was dropped from the Test squad for no apparent reason after scoring a century on debut. He was dropped from the ODI side for no apparent reason after putting in great performances in the 2014 Asia Cup where he batted through the innings for a couple of half centuries.

Forget his batting, he's just a brilliant bloke in general because he's never made one ill-fated comment towards the PCB after the awful treatment he has received and In Shaa Allah he will be recalled into this Australia series, if not, the Windows series after.

exactly!

His batting style has been his main cause for his outfall.
Yes he scores runs, but if your basics aren't good looking you miss out on many opportunities.

Fawad Alam and Sadaf Hussain, still a better love story than twilight.
PCB must apologize to these players for such an injustice .Or PCB should announce that national team selection has nothing to do with domestic performance. It's only on personal choice!

He has poor technique and very Awkward style, plays fast bowling poorly. Don't get the fan base love affair with him. Domestic Cricket is not the only measure, whenever given chance he did nothing special. Sami, Babar, Harris did much better once Cap was offered to them. I would not invest in play with such a poor technique, its not just technique, he never looked comfortable against pace, then what's the point?? - His Awkward technique exposed badly against quality seamer

He can play test matches. Is 31 Year Old so can play easily 7-8 Years. But strictly test matches

This is about as baldfaced of a lie that I have read on this board. He scored 168 on debut. In his first match. While the rest of the team was falling like nine-pins around him.

I'd also like to see some evidence for his putative weakness against quality seamers. Numbers like.

And in the meantime, do give a list of the scores of Pakistani players who are good against quality seamers. Not hypothetically, but as per actual performance?

Finally, does it matter if a player is also fabulous against spin, as good as Younis in fact, on last evidence? Do you ever envision Pakistan playing against spin?

It's not a love affair, at all. Some of us happen to believe that there should be a cricketing *system* in Pakistan. Which means picking players systematically, on the basis of performance. And if they average 40 plus after three Tests with one daddy century and have the highest FC average in the nation's history. You give them a run.

It is not rocket science.

He is not built to play cricket. My 3 year old son has more power in his arms than "can't clear the 30 yard circle Fawad."

I believe aeronautical engineers long failed to understand how the bumble bee could actually fly.
The fact that bumblebees nevertheless can fly very well tells us that the engineers were wrong
about how flight works. The fact that Fawad averages 56 in FC cricket and scored a 168 on debut
tells us that you are not competent to judge what are the requirements for playing cricket.

Also, I am talking about Test cricket.

Just like Inzamam destroyed the career of Asim Kamal when he was captain, this time around he is doing the same with Fawad Alam as a selector. :(
