What's new

Third Test between India (603/9d) and Australia (451 & 204/6) ends in a draw, series equal at 1-1

The fatigue must be absolutely immense for the Aussies, this is a war of attrition.
Ranchi is pretty cool right now at only 26 odd degrees, some parts of Maharashtra are already touching 40 degrees. However the Lunch will rejuvenate the Aussies. Nothing worse than a break for a pair of bats when they are all over the opposition. first 5 overs will be dangerous for Saha and Puara after the break

No matter the temperature, it is the amount of time they've been out on the field plus the humidity.

The fielders have to try and concentrate every ball especially close in fielders.

Can already see the fatigue really setting in with Wade and his lapses of concentration.

What Jadeja did on this pitch was magical. Just look at how other spinners have fared on this track, and Jaddu ran away with a 5'fer well inside first 2 days.

Aussies have conceded that they won't win this Test, therefore trying to contain scoring & prolong the Indian innings - now Pujara should start hitting & try to get a 100+ lead with 25 overs to bowl today.

Jadeja is absolutely brilliant.

If there is only one spot for spinners overseas, then he has to have it.

Needed a more result oriented pitch this match.

Super performance by CP

If the game goes on this way, it will end in a tame draw. For a result to happen, we should score fast hereon and give Australia a target. Their bowlers are tired.

Both batters nearing personal milestones so I doubt we will see any acceleration before tea,

180 overs bowled, is this a record?
How many overs did SA spend on the field in that infamous 600odd patnership between Mahela & Sangakkara?

Aus bowlers now bowling a negative line and length, eventually expecting the Indian batters to go at it and throw the wicket away

Wrong thread. Highest I believe England batted for about 350 overs at Oval 1938. Individually, I think Ramdhin or Valentine bowled almost 100 overs in an innings (Fazal Mahmood 85 overs, by a pacer, if we take him a fast bowler). Over a match, I think CJ White & Ramdhin has bowled over 100 overs in a match, while Verity once bowled 90+ 8 ball overs.

Congrats to O'Keefe the child that has a merciless face, on a well deserved 200 on the way lol.....

Could Dhoni have played an innings like Saha is playing now?

Bet we'd have been bowled out if he was in the line-up.

It is important that we win here otherwise australian fast bowlers can bowl us out cheaply at Dharamshala.

Pujara is still not out after having batted 505 deliveries.

two sessions without any wicket

With 30 odd overs to go, a draw looks like the most probable result. india cannot lose from here.

32 more overs left in the day. Should score another 70 in the next 16 overs to take the lead to 120 and have a crack at Australians in the last 12 overs. In hindsight, should have gone all out in the 45 minutes prior to tea.

505 deliveries marathon by Pujara , Amazing temperament.

This session should bring 150 runs though. Australia looking at anothee defeat here.

Cheteshwar Pujara becomes topmost Indian in list of number of balls faced by batsman in one test inning.

Underrated batsman, I still can't believe Kohli wanted to play Rohit Sharma over him.

Still at the number 40 in overall list though

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/records/284005.html

Don't think all innings are listed here - in olden days, they used to record time, but not always ball. Hanif's innings is missing. Also, I think Gavasker's 220 at Port of Spain & 180+ against ENG were also marathon innings.

i wonder what the orders are for the batting pair.. They are taking their time. I guess Pujara 200 is a priority.

Accelerating is not a problem for Pujara as we saw yesterday in 1st two sessions.

Cummins to other batsmen 34 off 90 balls and 4 wickets
Cummins to Pujara 35 off 50 balls and 0 wickets.

200 for Puji. :) Master of match winning and series saving innings.

Cheteshwar 'Impact' Pujara. Best Indian test batsman by some distance.

Incredible performance by Pujara and Saha. Saha is painfully underrated by his own countrymen. He scores the difficult runs. Does not look too pretty but he gets the results. A very compact keeper. Will probably end up averaging around 35-40 if not more. Amazing grit!

What a bore this match has been.

I hope India go back to a turner for the last.

And then you'll throw a whinge when the turner does come around.
I like day 1 turners... the cricket is much more entertaining and keeps you at the edge of your seat.

Hate wickets which deteriorate from day 2 and gives the team who wins the toss a huge advantage.

Why hasnt Maxwell bowled more?

Surely could have bowled 15 or so in a 200+ over innings

Can I just say that nothing has given me more pleasure in this series, as a biased Pakistani fan, than watch Hansdcomb struggle. He has an abomination of a technique and it deserves to be ruthlessly exposed every time. Which tells you how poor Pakistan bowled against him in Australia (true bounce etc meant, he was happy to leave half the balls, batting beside Sarfaraz basically)

Ashwin Jadeja opening the bowling lol

Warner is the most over rated cricketer around - has nothing to show when ball turns, swings or seem.

"the humble servant of indian cricket" re: pujara from Manjrekar. Cringeworthy....

Has already played more impact innings in his test career compared to Dhoni in his entire career, this coming from a Dhoni fan

Agreed, it has been an absolute bore fest. I'm not even watching it.

Sometimes we have to give credit to the batsmen too.
Pujara yesterday and Pujara and Saha were brilliant today. Watch Cummin's spells yesterday on recording (highlights won't show) to see what i am talking about.

Underestimate the greatest Test batting lineup in the history of the game at your own peril.

:)) I Shall not make that mistake again! India have humbled us all with this performance in their backyard

Can Aussies get a wicket today?

If Pujara and Saha didn't accelerate it was almost certain neither would have got out in the last session.

Without Saha (and of course Pujara) we would have been bowled out, and then lost the match on the 5th day. With Vijay and Rahane throwing away their wickets, and Kohli failing once again, the situation was quite bleak when Saha came in to bat.

But good to see Pujara in form. I think Aswhin & Jadeja can also be counted on this pitch to contribute a bit with bat (at least in 1st innings). They need to tackle the fast bowlers though!

My prediction to my bro-in-law yesterday was that Ash-Saha-Jaddu would score a total of 150+ and give India a lead. After Ash got out for 3 my prediction was looking poor, but Saha and Jaddu came through!

India needs to bite the time, no way they are going to win this test match!

Australia definitely ahead at this point.. it's highly doubtful India will catch up with the lead and even if they do, they have to bat in the 4th inning with 1 less batsman

Most ppers disagree though. Most people here aren't giving India much of a chance at winning.

I'm quite impressed by Cummins and Hazelwood. It's going to be a tall order for India to save the game.

From trailing by 123 odd to leading by 1 run, this pair has turned the game....lol

It's the #1 ranked team we are talking about here. Looking forward to a Jaddu-Ash 90 over test of the remaining 8 Aussie batsmen. Didn't watch much of this game but will be watching most of tomorrow :)

If the Indians somehow win this Match, which I don't think they will, but if they do win, it would be a real egg in the face of the Australians .... after all the nonsense that have gone on during the last 10 days or so !!!!

According to Betfair, at this point the probability of India winning is about 55%, draw 30%, and Australia winning about 15%. Not sure why anyone would give Australia even a 2% chance of winning now, but Betfair is people putting their money where their mouths are.

Lol how can Aussies possibly win.

Australia can definitely bat out.. easier said than done I know but not much is happening on the wicket and they do have batsmen capable of grinding it out

Yeah sure, just like they batted out the last Test scoring a grand total of 112 on the 4th/5th day.

Watch the world's #1 spin duo shatter them tomorrow.
