This isn’t Egypt and we won’t let Nawaz Sharif become another Morsi, warned Maryam Nawaz during a press conference in Lahore on Saturday.

The PML-N vice president detailed her father’s medical condition and said six weeks wasn’t enough to cure a cold, let alone all of Nawaz’s illnesses. The court granted him six weeks of bail to get his ailments treated. Since then, he has been asked both by the court and by others why he was unable to get his treatment done in that time frame.

Maryam said it will take months if not years for Nawaz to be completely treated. She said he needs multiple surgeries and has heart problems, renal problems that could lead to kidney failure and is at risk of a stroke. He needs to have an angiography, a surgical biopsy of his chest and a pacemaker put in, but these procedures cannot be done simultaneously, she explained.

He needs to recover after each surgery and then only can he have the next one, she said. She also informed the media that Nawaz had suffered from a heart attack while in jail custody and they only found out once they got the discharge slip. She also claimed that the doctors that examined the PML-N founder had told them that they had reduced the severity of his illness in their reports because they were afraid of losing their jobs.

We have submitted all these reports in court and are still hoping for justice, she said, reminding the media that no corruption has been proven against the former three-time premier. I’m not asking for relief, clarified Maryam, who explained that she just wants to make the people of the nation witness to Nawaz’s serious health situation.

She's absolutely right here - it would be an international disaster if anything terrible happened to Nawaz. He should be cared for properly.

He should definitely be cared for but he should be provided the same medical facilities as any other inmate in a similar condition would be provided.

If those facilities aren’t good enough then that’s his own fault and maybe there’s a lesson to learn here for his party and all the others as well

International disaster 😂. Unlike Morsi, no one apart from South Asians know who Nawaz Sharif is.

Yes it would. It would be very bad for Pakistan's international reputation and give the impression that it is the Establishment calling the shots behind Imran and PTI. Oh wait...

No it wouldn't. Foreign agencies have lots of assets, they don't rely on just one. As soon as one fades, another one is promoted- look at the PTM using the death of Naqeebullah and then being allies with the very people that killed him.

Isko meo mei admit krwado bibi, when your own hired people will treat him like dog then you will be aware what you have done for poor Pakistanis.

Inshallah he will spend his last days in prison sleeping and eating right where he goes to the loo. That is his auqaat. Nani Calibiri can keep crying. Noose it tightening around her as well.

This isnt. but I wish it ha a china model, where corrupt people have to face firing squad..

That would also solve our population issue since you'd basically send at least half of them to face the firing squad.

I like it

Comparing Nawaz to Morsi. Wow another level of delusion.

The fact that people here seem to want a former democratically elected prime minister to die in prison explains why we deserve to be exploited by the Establishment and why we will never progress. The last democratically elected leader to have died after imprisonment was ZAB and even Imran Khan has said before how negatively that impacted the progress of our democracy.

Regardless of Nawaz Sharif's faults, he was elected by the public of Pakistan.Believe it or not, it is important to respect the mandate of those who have been democratically elected.

Until we learn to respect democracy and understand its importance perhaps we do not deserve anything other than the military rule.

So the mandate to look after your country gives you right to to loot? What a terrible post as usual.

Have high respect for you as you have been posting good but how can A former PM should mot die in prison? is he above the law? he should be punished for what he did and it will strengthen democracy rather than weakening it.never ever compare this looter with ZAB.

Morsy
- Democratically elected Overthrown in a coup backed by Saudi
- Died in court (not convicted).
- Kept in solitary confinement in terrible conditions.

Sharif
- Declared ineligible by the Supreme court for corruption charges.
- Resigned without a coup.
- Convicted by a court.
- Kept in a good prison conditions and one point had his own suite.

Can't do the time then don't do the crime, if Sharif dies during while serving his sentence then that's no different from any other prisoner dying during their sentence. If you claim to be a liberal then you shouldn't advocate for special treatment of the rich.

Morsi was held in solitary confinement for almost 23 hours a day for what, 6 years? The prison he was held in was described at being "designed so that those who go in don’t come out again unless dead". His family was only allowed to visit him thrice during that period.

Don't see the comparison, but I understand there's a narrative to sell.

The establishment in Egypt was on a whole different level.

Another stupid post.

Being popularly elected doesn’t mean you have a clean chit to do anything you want

Respecting democracy does not mean that you give free rein to the PM to loot as he pleases and not take him to task for it.
Everybody should be answerable to Law that is the true democracy.

Posting good?

Comment you quoted wrap up every comment he had posted.

These are the people who would drop to any level as long as they can project Pakistani Army and current government as the biggest evil to ever exist in the world.

Maryam should thank the Almighty for the Saudis otherwise her traitor father would’ve been hanged in 99.

My advise to her will be to return half of the looted wealth and then get lost.

To start, take him to face every single Pakistani and ask for forgiveness from them. 2nd step will come once this is done.

He wasnt democratically elected. He was appointed. He hasnt won a fair election in his life. he came through the good graces of a dictator. He looted, stole, pillaged the country and sent his money abroad. And then to make up the difference strapped every child in Pakistan with a interest based loan for the rest of their existence.

he was in it for himself and his family. the current government now has to pick up the pieces of ten years of destruction.

Tell me what was democratic about him and his party? I know people who are criminals who were running the show for NS and his stooges in punjab. if you had connections you could take peoples zameens, livelihoods, lives in a blink of an eye. I know people who were running kubza group schemes in punjab with the punjab police and you talk of democracy?

pathetic. people like you are a cancer and should be dealt with harshly. this country of 200 million people needs to be rid of traitors and terrorist supporters who rejoice at the murder of children in schools and support blatant foreign funded terrorists.

Word of advice.
Pull your head out of the sand.

ZAB was never democratically elected, much like NS, he was cultivated and installed by dictators/establishment. He then usurped Mujeeb's mandate and installed himself first as the civilian martial law administrator (with Yahya's support), then unilaterally as the President and then PM. He then heavily rigged the next election in his favor, along with a litany of despotic and fascistic achievements in the intervening years, eventually leading to his much deserved demise...
