This Pakistani team will surprise the world

Time for teams to make plan against Afridi, hopefully everyone watches the footages carefully ,anyone underestimating PCT will screw up.

On side note why do.some fans only show up when PCT has the winning momentum..

InshaAllah Pakistan will win the WC.

People see Pakistan always as underdogs, but they don’t know that this squad really has the potential to win the World Cup.

Many people will laugh at me right now and I’m also ready to take “humble-pies” if Pak crashes out early in the tournament.

But one thing which I know about our team is that we have match-winners who will prove everybody wrong.

I agree with you. Lots of flair players. We are just fine tuning and the inexperienced guys are getting experienced.

Some Pakistan “fans” are some of the most impatient, labile people lacking cricket knowledge

Exactly this.

Mickey Arthur is trying all the possibilities before the WC to figure out the best possible XI.

After all, we need players who have the experience and are eager to learn from the mistakes they have made previously.
 
Fans will be fans, but flukes don't happen all the time. This is a thoroughly mediocre team that stands no chance of winning the World Cup.

The World Cup belongs to the two best ODI teams in the world by some distance - England and India.

Since 2003, the overwhelming favourite has won the World Cup - this hasn't been a tournament of surprises and shocks. I don't see any different outcome this time. One of the two aforementioned teams will take the trophy home, and they richly deserve it as well.

Nonetheless, as fans, it is understandable how people are hoping for a fairytale run ala the Champions Trophy. Unfortunately, it is not simply about the players learning from their mistakes or playing with courage etc. etc. We are simply not good enough.

The people who expect Pakistan to turn things around in time for the World Cup and blow teams away en route to the trophy would have never held such views if they weren't Pakistani. Patriotism tends to blind us, but it is important to be objective. Objectively speaking, anyone with a semblance of cricketing knowledge can see how ordinary this team is.

PCT won't win if it's not an underdog.. India and England aren't going to the mistake again..
 
The only thing that surprised the world today was how clueless and uneducated our captain is. This forum knew it, now the rest of the world can see it.
 
We just need Fakhar and Babar to clickand if they click one more time hopefully in World Cup semi and final, then so m be it.
 
We need to remove Fakhar, Sarfaraz and Hafeez and replace them with Saad, Saud and Rizwan and they will obviously give us a much better chance at winning World Cup.

Pak is rubbish and wont do much, but b/w Pak and sa, Pak is still likely to beat sa in the wc.

india are firm fav's, while eng and NZ have a good chance too. Rest are all weak, the 4th team to reach the semis can be Aus as i believe they are still better than Pak.SA will do nothing in the WC.
 
An opportune time to bump this thread. Pakistan should always do well as the underdogs.
 
No doubt that time to time they will exceed expectations but I don't think it is time to be content with that. Pakistan must start dominating from now in all 3 formats topping ranking charts and being in the finals of major tournaments.
 
This upcoming WT20 will be a huge test for Pakistan it will really show whether our performances in these last two T20 tournaments were fluke or we're really improving & going in the right direction.
 
One thing I'd like to say is we need to stop hiding our complacence and failure to adapt earlier in the tournaments in the name of Cornered Tigers. This has been overdone in last 15 years.
 
Yes this team has suprised the world.... because being a minnow team and still playing final......
But in Australia this team will get exposed badly....

I don't want to reply to this post. But reading some of these comments makes me laugh.
Honestly, people are so deluded.
Pakistan team is not the greatest team but it's not the worst as well.
It's true that PCB doesn't have big money, but they achieve way more than what resources they have.
I m proud of PCB, specially since Ramiz has come to the party and even wasim khan did well.
What pakistan achieves with limited talent. India can't even achieve with unlimited talent.

Yesterday during the match the commentators had a very interesting debate which is worth bringing up.

Should Pakistan go into the T20 WC with the 4 pacers and 2 spiners or keep the attack their have right now perhaps swapping one quickie with Shaheen.

Waqar and Gautam were pro this choice, Styris and Wasim were not.

They proposed:

4 batters + Rizwan +
Nawaz
Shadab
Shaheen
Haris + 2 from
Hasnain/Dahani/Naseem

What purpose do 6 specialist bowlers serve in T20s ?

In case of any freak event like in match injury, Khushdil or Iftikhar can bowl.
Wasim and Styris are right.
 
Shaping up to be the kind of beating that jolts the boys back into form. This is a great team and a collapse in such hostile conditions was almost expected.

Don't lose hope, this is our World cup, InshaAllah. We will get to the semis and the streak will be broken on the biggest stage.

Don't think anyone was that surprised to see the usual craven batting performance, the usual mixture of over-caution . These are 50 over games, you do need proper batsmen to make a score.

This is a new low for this mediocre team too. 8 wickets for 36 runs on this flat track is nothing short of criminal.

Yes, it was totally unacceptable. The good thing is that it has come at the start of the tournament so there will be time to make a recovery. Pakistan will now have a 6 days gap before their next game so they can have some off time and try to get this performance out of their system.
 
Yes a big surprise by Pakistan team finally the ardent fans can forget Mohali because now they got the new haunting Ahmedabad130 humbling
 
The way team has played in the last 3 matches, it would be a big surprise for everyone if they win against South Africa this Friday.
