More like Pakistan, bow your head in shame! Nothing special from this Thisara, just some of the most abysmal cricket you are ever likely to witness from Pakistan!!!

Horrible horrible batting. I usually appreciate what other players do but this was just ridiculous batting by Younus and Afridi, the only decent ball was to Sarfraz

lol I'm betting right now most Pak fans would be hating this guy. They were coasting till he did this.
 
Thisara has got very good success even against our batting as well. He just seems to produce these match winning spells every now and again from nowhere. He is a great prospect for SL team as a bowling all-rounder who could hit big when it required.
 
What is up with Perera? To me his bowling doesn't look anything special, but look at his one day record. He may be too expensive, but he is a serious wicket taker. It can't be fluke cos it keeps happening. I'm not saying he's bad just dont get how he is averaging better than Malinga.

Batsmen try to play out Malinga, and often getting out to Parera with "risk on" shots.

In whatever the game I have seen him play, he bowls mainly around off-stump(more like a wicket to wicket bowler) and out side off stump with just short of full length ball that's going for runs at the same time getting wickets regularly(besides he is no trundler, he bowls consistently at mid to high 130's). This is just my observation.
 
He is useful with the bat and ball excellent in the field as well.highly useful cricketer

Another average joe trundler made to look world class. Gifted wickets to him, but yeah a hat-trick is still an accomplishment, even if the batsmen have no brains at all. So good on him :14:

Yes I have seen him many times and he's definitely no trundler. At the same time I would not expect him to take so many wickets, but you are probably right. Let's see if he can keep this up. Average of 23 which is amazing and economy of 5.3 which is poor, overall a very valuable bowler.

The guy took 6 wickets in the 2nd ODI as well. That's 10 wickets in 2 matches now. Quite an effort, can't be lucky all the times. A trundlindian never got that lucky :yk


A typical street smart Lankan swing bowler. At a glance none of them look great but they do the job more often than not.

Our batsmen basically handed their wickets to the guy, but he did his job.
 
I'm sorry but the man is average, playing against a pee poor team.

We can make the average of players look world-class.

It was a very good hat trick. Turned the game upside down. Not one of those "snipe the tail enders with yorkers" freebies.
 
Another lalloo we've made to look good - along with the likes of David 'Murali' Hussey, Simon 'Warne' Katich and about a thousand other bits and pieces, part-timers.

Our batsmen's shot selection was appalling, gifting their wickets away.

Who's next ? Sanath Jayasuriya will probably quit the commentary box and skittle through our batting lineup for old times sake.

And well done Perera.
 
Perara is a pie chucker.He was just made to look good by our very own batsmen.

I am just watching the highlights and have to say that was the worse I seen us bat in a game. YK walks down and then was in no position to run it to third man. Afridi threw the towel in as usual with a nothing shot and Sarfraz was giving catching practice.
 
Lol some ridiculous comments from posters.As it is,difficult to find good bowlers in plenty these days because of the pitches.so give credit where it is due.Seems all of u want a good bowler,a bowler who bowls at a pace of over 145 kmph,takes 3 wickets every match and those wickets must be the top order batsman,only then u will accept him as a good bowler.

Because of the pressure put every match on these youngsters combined with excessive cricket,is the reason world is not producing lot of great bowlers these days like in the nineties.

I'm amazed to see some of the comments here, all of ya who are branding him as a trundler, should see the speeds he can touch. Easily can get upto 140ish, which is decent and above the trundler's benchmark. Moreover he already has more 5fers than Umar Gul, Cheema, Riaz, already has a better average than all these so called Expresses".

I remember seeing him giving a hard time to Aussies in Their den.

Grow up guys,he is making his performances take notice. Give appreciation where it's due.

And these people were blasting Umar Gul in the other thread. 10 wickets in 2 games !!! Gotta be good. I'd love to have this dude in Indian team, well disciplined and spirited bowler also does well with the bat. :19:

On the up drive first ball which lobbed to cover not really unexpected from Afridi but still a much better shot than Sarfraz' ... even Afridi would've left a hat trick ball pitched a good 2 stumps outside off instead of just poking at it.

Both shots were equally awful.

I know you're an Afridi fan but at least try to construct a fair narrative here.
 
Why should a trundler not be a good bowler - this is not test cricket. What a poor argument to dismiss him. Perera is not so great but he appears to be good at what he does. He will be an asset to the SL team.

McGrath and Pollock took loads of wickets in their trundling days. If talent and discipline is there you will get wickets

He is way too overrated by evryone He doesnt move the ball much, but i hav to admitt his line is good. besides that very average cricketer

Wouldn't go as far as calling Perera a trundler he looks a decent bowler actually although he did nothing special to get this hattrick just poor batting. That gives you an idea though about the pakistani batting, they have no one in the class of Mahela and Sangakkara just block or smash players, atleast Misbah and Azhar deserve some credit for holding the batting together. Srilanka have far superior batting and fielding units compared to Pakistan.Only chance for Pakistan is their bowling and that also their spinners their fast bowling is below par ATM Srilanka;s fast bowlers even the so called trundler Perera are far superior to the Pakistani pacemen and Lanka's Premier Paceman Malinga is well ahead of :gul. Lol dont expect Pakistan to win unless Srilanka play exceptionally poor cricket or we get a :afridi special.
 
Lol Perera maybe a trundler but he is better than any of the pacemen Pakistan have ATM. Gul was busy getting hammered and dropping catches for Pak whereas the Srilankan pacers kept things tight and Pakistan capitulated. What is the team for todays match? is that trundler Hameed Azam playing today hopefully we can beat SL.
 
Still doing the good work, beautiful swing bowling from him. Keeping it simple and reaping rewards.
 
i think we pak fans should show some magnanimity (whoops have i spelt it correctly) Parera is a great find for Sri lanka, very impressive allrounder. strong, fast and very athletic should be a great allrounder for them for years to come and alongside mathews and Chandimal they have quite an impressive lower middle order
 
Perera is the next kulasekara it seems. will average under 20 vs Pakistan and over 60 vs ROW

He was done well against other countries as well especially India, IIRC he has a couple of five wicket hauls against them. IMO a lot of people here are underrating Thisara,this guy is a pretty useful bowler especially in ODI cricket.

he is excellent in odi. in tests he was averaging 70 odd despite a test in South Africa. similar to kulasekara who averages 90+ vs ROW and under 25 vs Pakistan

Nope. Thisara has got only one 5 wicket haul against India. His stats are - 14 ODIs against India and 21 wickets with 1 5fer (5 for 28 in sri lanka, 2010). Overall Econ 5.78 and Avg 25.66.

Against Pakistan 9 ODIs 17 wickets Econ 4.74 Avg 22.11

FYI, that was a depleted Indian team, even Kohli was dropped around that time from the team. Thisara was helped by Dharamasena too.
The Aussie team was even weaker than the current team though that was better 5fer.

Perera is yet another potential beast vs Pakistan. will have the odd off game but will mostly go ''kulasekara'' on Pakistan

A big IPL contract coming his way..nothing sepcial though. Pakistan have a habit of picking up lullos and making them giants.

Already contracted with CSK for at least next 2 seasons for $50K, played a few games for them without much success.
