Thoughts on moving PSL 4 matches from Lahore to Karachi?

Dubai, 3 March 2019:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today announced the eight Pakistan-leg matches of the HBL Pakistan Super League will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi. This late change, caused due to a situation beyond the PCB’s control, has also resulted in a tweak to the Pakistan-leg matches, which will now commence from 9 March with all eight matches to be played in as many days.

The decision has been made following the delayed opening of the Lahore airspace for commercial flights, which has created substantial operational and logistical challenges relating to the delivery of the three Lahore matches, which were originally scheduled for 9, 10 and 12 March.

Some of the key challenges that PCB has faced as a result of the delayed opening of the Lahore airport have included securing production equipment and the commitment of broadcast crew, as well as finalising the logistics for the officials and teams.

It's partially reopened starting today. Apparently all flights will be back in service from 8th-9th March.

Feel really bad for the Lahoris.

If i was told that the matches have been shifted from Khi i would have been devastated.Psl is the one time of the year us cricket crazy Pakistanis can enjoy.

But i understand that it was a necessary precaution and i just wish that other cities were fit to host Psl.It would be overkill though.8 straight matches in Karachi.

I am not Lahori, but can understand how Lahore Qalander fans would have loved to see their team's games.

A pity that they couldn't have a few games there in the latter stages of the Pak leg.

My Cousins back home are feeling so sad about it. They bought tickets for the whole 3 games. Honestly they should have gone for lahore, i believe situation might have improved by then.

The recent events should make PCB realise that we need a world class stadium in every major centres with the capacity to accommodate at least 40000 fans. The fact that PCB didn’t increase the capacity of NSK before renovations is mind boggling. It’s also indicative of their lack of vision and lack priority.

It's frustrating. The bigger picture is trying to bring cricket back to Pakistan but if it's all in one city it's not proving much. Could have tried to get games in another stadium

Agreed but you can't play there until you have 5 star hotel in those cities.

PCB can incorporate those necessary facilities into their stadiums. But you need a vision and will to do these things.

Instead of Making new Stadium 🏟. PCB should give the contract to the same company. We have stadium like Faisalabad, Pindi, Multan, possibly a new stadium in Islamabad Capital. Lets renovate these stadiums get them ready for next yr PSL. We need place new seats in the stadiums, new ground grass, facilities areas need to be renovated. We are good to go then.

Well, I guess they didn't have an option considering the prevailing situation in the country at the moment however its very tough on fans though who had purchased tickets by standing in ques for as many as 5 hrs...

Couldn't they have requested the Pakistani army to help out in terms of transportation of logistics and what not? Or maybe they didn't want to expose the players to the risk with Lahore being so close to the borders.

I did not mean it in that sense, its just that I feel Pakistan cricket is the loser here even though Pakistan the nation has been the victor recently. Anyways, Pakistan need to start looking at Islamabad, Multan and other stadiums as PSL options.
