it is very clear to me as a non muslim, that infighting among muslims means Islam never reached them. One God, one book (hold fast the rope of Allah), one final Prophet (Final Khutba) yet even the educated muslims waste hours fighting among themselves over religion. todays muslims have become like hindus.

Most Christians from developed nations are followers of the religion only in the name.
Like deadball said they realized the ludicrousness of the faith a long time ago and hence the reason why we don't see them quarreling over secterianism anymore.

Even in the bible belt of USA, the most religious folk still do not fight over the various christian denominations. Even today, in N.Ireland catholics and protestants will be at each other's throats. in the 90s Orthodox Christians in Serbia & Croatia massacred Muslims of Bosnia with impunity.

Same "evidence" Sunnis show against Shias, Shias against Sunnis, Catholics against Protestants and vice versa, Muslims against Christians/Jews/hindus and vice versa etc etc etc. People always think their version of a faith, religion, sect is the correct one, I have even seen you have some illogical arguments here just because you thought your point of view was the right one. Now you may not be extremist enough to kill someone for that but there are quite a few who are.

Religion like Nationalism just gives uneducated, irrational or emotional people another reason to kill each other without feeling too guilty about the whole ordeal.

This is one of the few cases that even came to people's attention. The sad fact is, Shias are victims of targetted violence and killings in Pakistan every day, but a lot of the time no one ever hears about it.

Even if a Muslim is practicing his religion , what I do not understand why should they kill another Muslim ? Shias or other sects follow the fundamentals of Islam . My thinking is that this is probably because of politics.

The solution was that shias and sunnis should sit together , there best scholars ( not local ones ) and decide this issue seriously. They both need to understand that this kind of incident is not doing any good.

There were differences of opinions among the companions also , and several sects started there itself. The only instance that companions fought for religious reasons ( not political ) was when they fought against Musalima ( the false claimant of prophet hood )
