I am reading reports that Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's latest movie Tiger Zinda Hai (sequel of Ek Tha Tiger) has not been issued a no-objection certificate by the Central Board of Film Censors and hence will not be allowed to screen in Pakistani cinemas.

The reason for this decision is that the "image of Pakistan and its law enforcement agencies has been compromised"

Interestingly - Ek Tha Tiger had also been banned in Pakistan for the very same reason :)

Personally I am gutted and annoyed as I wanted to watch this film with family during my upcoming trip to Pakistan...

Obviously, how can India make a movie without showing Pakistan being complicit in anything? Katrina Kaif is a Pakistani spy in the movie... but she's on the 'good side' apparently. She's seen light and Salman Khan's character was the reason she started seeing the truth...

Pakistan is playing this cleverly. It would have been real easy for them to just blanket ban everything, but they're doing it on a case-by-case basis and if it gets to a point where it pinches the pocket of Bollywood, the latter will ensure that their films are Pakistan-neutral to continue tapping into that market.

Why would you want to watch a movie that belittles Pakistan in Pakistan?

Surely you can do many more interesting things in Pakistan?

They should ban all Bollywood flicks.Yes,it will hurt our cinema owners in the start but it will help our film industry grow on it’s own instead of imitating our neighbours to attract general public.Cheap, tacky films with zero story, cheap humor and stupid item numbers as entertainment. There are some very good Bollywood films with good solid acting and a good story, but the majority of the movies are bakwaas.Indian film makers are capable of making good movies.

So this is your big worry: you are travelling to Pakistan and are annoyed you can not watch a Bollywood movie there? Wow! :)

Why would Pakistanis watch a movie that shows Pakistan in bad light? Sure the plot will sell well in India, but Totally understandable if Pak bans such movies.

I dont agree with banning it - free world people free to do what they wish but am curious as to why anyone would want to watch it from Pakistan.

I have watched the trailer and movie looks anything but anti-Pakistani. I think, it's the gaudery lovestory of Pakistani spy with Indian counterpart, which is not going down well with the people in Pakistan.

After all it is the kapoors and khans who came here from Pakistan who are responsible for this pathetic industry full of mediocrity, debauchery and depravity. So it is just the chickens coming home to roost.

then banning it for that is stupid.

I am not sure how it belittles Pakistan? :13:

The first movie was about how an Indian and Pakistani intelligence officers fell in love and quit their respective agencies. I wouldn't call it belittling and at the very least it portrays the same consequences and effects for both RAW and ISI when one of their agents just vanish. Even at the end of the movie - the narrator mentions how atleast it forced ISI and RAW to work together on an issue and seemed to portray it in a positive light.

From the trailers I saw of the 2nd movie - it about how RAW contacts Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif to assist in the hostage rescue of indian nurses in Iraq. Obviously - it features Indian elements and their citizens but have nothing to do with Pakistan or our goverment.

Not sure what the issue was tbh...

Yes!

Was planning on doing an activity with family and watching this movie was one of the ideas I had in mind.

I get the feeling intelligence agencies and spies are a sensitive topic and any movie that touches on such a subject (whether or not it mentions Pakistan in a good or bad or even neutral way) will likely get banned.

99% of 'movies' Bollywood are cringe worthy to the core.

Don't forget pre-Imran Khan / Mohsin Khan: all these Indian 'khans' used to change their names to Hindu-ones to earn a living as actors.

They're living off IK's name. Should pay him royalty or something.

Reluctantly I have to agree with the decision. There should be no need of banning the awful stuff coming from Bollywood, but if Pakistani folk are too gullible and naive, then the govt has to do some hand holding.

Awful or not - at the end of the day it is entertainment that people are willing to pay for in a democratic country.

What purpose will this ban serve?

You can make the same argument for Salman Khan.

Both left their respective agencies for someone they fell in love with.

The Pakistani and Indian perspective is exactly the same - unless you argue that the male gender is more dominating was an Indian...

Visit some good place with the family, that will be much more memorable than some movie.

Its better that you don't go to Pakistan if your purpose is to see an Indian movie in Pakistan. You can do it at whichever country you are currently living in.

Have they banned TV series “Homeland” also and some other movies which shows ISI/Pakistan in bad light??

Or these shows/movie never release in Pakistan regardless due to lack of demand for English content compared to Bollywood?

Do Pakistani movies even get aired in India?

And anyway, I don't understand why even Indians find pleasure in watching an obese, 50 year old Salman Khan fuel romance with British actresses half his age..

More than Indians I can't believe young Pakistanis watch this rubbish either. :))

I hope the many Pakistanis with high taste in cinema are not deprived of this movie by the backward and jealous mentality of the pakistani authorities. Art knows no borders, and Pakistanis deserve to be entertained by the highbrow and critically acclaimed movies from Bollywood.

I don’t think they get aired in India atleast not in cinema halls maybe in some film festivals in India they might get aired but I’m not sure..

Everyone has a different taste of someone enjoys watching Salman Khan bear 1000 guys alone that’s their choice of entertainment.. If you don’t like it don’t watch it simple...

It might be rubbish to you but for a lot of people they enjoy it, they might find what you like as rubbish.. Everyone has a different taste when it comes to entertainment you don’t have to disrespect what someone else might find enjoyable just because you don’t like it..

P.S. - I don’t watch these movies myself but just saying before people start calling me names..

I am not stopping enjoying them am I. I think they're rubbish and that's my opinion. Just like someone else thinks they're great.

Agreed, but what about Tiger Zinda Hai?

There some Pakistani TV soaps that were very popular . Dunno if they've been pulled recently .

Hold on!! You are getting married but worried about the movie. Big time Bhai fan :-d

Congrats btw!!

Haha thank you!

This was one of the family activities / events I had planned after the reception but it looks like it won't happen :)

You are not aware of the history, we once banned Bollywood films and it did impact our industry negatively. We started copying films of BW, was producing crap films with Shan in every of them with no compeition. It was the worst decision ever for Lollywood.
Compeition is good

Is this one gonna be set in Ireland like the first one was?

Swear, saw a 5 minute clip of the original out of curiosity of its Dublin setting.

God Bollywood, what did you do to the poor Kilkenny hurling team

What did you do to MY COUNTRY

sensible-indian-fan I just watched that clip again and I aint leaving without an apology.

Payments in murgi masala portions please.

Nah this time it's Greece and also in arabic.:D

I have had enough of seeing these low class Bollywood flicks making tons of money across the globe from patriotic Indians and gullible Pakistanis starved of genuine entertainment. I am looking into producing my own Bolly style movie with a classy theme....possibly called Jab Hari Met Su-li. The theme will be about a young Indian falling in love with a Chinese student, shooting in London's Chinatown. We should be able to tap into the huge Chinese audience as well.

Im not into the typical bollywood fluff, especially with actors like Salman. Isn't he like 55+ or something by now ? I am however inspired by the recent bollywood action movies with the recent younger generation of actors like Tiger Shroff who does his own stunts and has a taekwondo belt and even inspired by the level of fitness and work they put in akin to the mind blowing action movies like "Baaghi". Take a look at the below link if you haven't seen the movie. It blows my mind seeing the action scenes from this movie, since im a huge action movie buff. Baaghi is inspired by the asian action move "The Raid" if anyone's seen that. I thought for sure after seeing "the raid", the bollywood version would have been a very tacky rip off. But i thought the action scenes in the bollywood version were actually even better than the original and Tiger really did justice to it..

Tiger and jamwal are different beast all together as far as action is concerned, it looks so natural.

After seeing the trailer, I am not sure why it got banned in Pakistan. Katrina as a Pakistani spy agent clearly states that she wants the world to see a positive image of Pakistan, that we want peace. What a radical admission by Bollywood. This movie and this quote in particular should be run non stop all over the world. Maybe it was because the hero is an Indian agent and Pakistani audience should never be shown any Indian spy or soldier in a positive light, no matter how far fetched from the truth this may ever be.

Saw the movie yesterday, it wasn’t anti-Pakistani and was quite pro-peace actually much like most Salman Khan movies. The movie itself was alright.

P.S it’s worth it just to watch Katrina Kaif portray a Pakistani spy ;)

That’s precisely what I thought too based on the first movie.

I don’t think it portrays Pakistan in a negative light at all.

How did you know that its from Tiger Zinda Hai? You also watched it?

All Bollywood should be banned in Pak. I hope the next government do this.

Saw the film, wasn't an anti Pakistan film. No idea why it was banned.

We would never know if that would actually happen. The odds of Waseem Akram making the team out of half a billion men is far less than it would then him being selected for Pakistan. Also we don't know for sure how important and wealthy west Punjab would've been in an undivided india, it could've been another neglected province as opposed to being the central and wealthiest province of Pakistan. That's why "what if" questions are pretty pointless.

I watched the movie and it was actually pro Pakistan and pro peace.. It showed Pakistan and ISI in a positive light better than what western movies/TV shows portray..

The movie itself was typical Salman movie where you leave your brain and home and watch it.. Everything was just illogical but the reason given by Pakistan for banning it was lame.. Shoukd have just come out and banned it because it was a Bollywood movie rather than putting false allegations that it is anti Pakistan which some gullible folks believe everything India does is anti Pakistan..

Basically playing politics to please the ill informed anti Indian Pakistanis..

How is Katrina's action scenes? I am hearing good reviews about it.

Movies such as this should be banned solely for the reason that how stupid they are.

You're giving them too much credit. They've issued blanket ban on Bollywood in the past. It fell flat (black market made sure of that), so they reversed it in a hurry.

There is nothing Pakistanis like more than watching Bollywood movies.

And they want to participate in IPL.

And they want to play cricket against India.

Finally, as a % of total, the Pakistani movie market would never be big enough to dictate the plot of a Bollywood movie.

How is Katrina's action scenes? I am hearing good reviews about it.

Was OK, Most of the action was Salman centric but Katrina had a small action scene when she went to get maps which was OK..

Nothing extraordinary but decent for Bollywood standards..

Love your condescending tone. Bollywood is the ultimate benchmark in quality entertainment and creativity. If we were a global superpower, then foreigners would be lining up to get a gig as a background dancer or a side role.

Do not quote me or say we you are not an Indian which was proven in the thread where you remarked about Kulbhushan.. Please take your trolling somewhere else and interact with others who are interested in talking with a non Indian troll like you...

This is my last reply to you.. Thank you and best of luck

Watched this film - there was nothing anti-Pakistani in it as far as I can remember, although I did fall asleep for part of the film :)

If you pay to watch Salman Khan these days then we need to question your intelligence not your patriotism.

Good. Our population should be weened off the garbage known as Bollywood.
