Time for cricket fans to accept that T20s are the future?

I like T20Is but Tests are broadly regarded as the gold standard by players and admins. I like Tests too - grew up on them but they are not my favorite format. T20s whatever one thinks have revolutionized the game and will slowly all but kill off non commercially viable Tests.

Today it is worth being a T20 player (plus ODIs). Tests will survive in England and Australia. Others will play a few periodically.

Personally test is my fav format (after global tournaments) but It is true that common cricket fans prefer t20s and say things like "oye tu test matches bhi dekhta hai, boht vela hai".

I think day-night test matches can improve interest and will surely improve attendance.

I've said this repeatedly.

Cricket is a business and T20s rake in the most amount of money. It's a no-brainer to focus on them.

Test cricket is a niche within a niche.

The day tests die is the day my interest in cricket fades away big time, of there is ODI cricket I could watch that sometimes but if it's just T20 I'm better off watching something else.

Future for what?

Fans won't watch T20s for more than two months a year. It's entertainment. Hardly any genuine cricket skill involved.

Although it is entertainment some skills are definitely involved. Teams don't score 180+ in every match. Skilled bowling and tactics win many matches in t20 that's why teams can sometimes be bowled out for under 100. As for batting, teams still go in with a plan sometimes they don't just whatever it and treat it like a close-eyed blind hitting rampage. I would talk more but got homework
