What's new

Tour match between Kent [209/4] and Pakistan [168] ends in a draw

Rofl It has been hilarious experience reading posters making castles for Selector's nephew as though he has scored a ton. A useless 50 without carrying the bat and taking Pakistan past 200 atleast.

Arthur should get a wake up call. When all these seniors can't even score 200, why not try the 4 youngsters who you've taken for a UK holiday. LOL moreover the bowling is being spearheaded by 2 legends Amir & Rahat. This tour is going to get more than worse for them. Pakistan's most important player 'Rain' can't show up to help them. They have to fix the batting to have any chance, and its not going to work with Azhar, Sami and Shafiq.

Not for the Ireland match as it's a one-off. But for the England series, yes.

Well, you have pretty much got everything the wrong way round.

It’s a Dukes ball, so 168 is probably worth 268. And it’s April in England, so it’s probably worth 368.

The whole point is that only 8 out of 29 First Class innings this April have even reached 300: the conditions are extremely damp.

Whichever batsmen are going to play the England Tests need to already have six First Class innings in the conditions under their belt. The last thing Pakistan can afford is to chop and change the batting.

With current batting pakistan will be lucky to score 200 runs in any inns of the test series vs england!

Its not even a week for them in the UK. remember they came from PAK and the weather in PAK..... it will take some time before they get used to it.

Absolutely - I fully admit that I'm far too lazy to check your stats, and I trust you anyway!

I'm a local and even I am freezing my butt off today due to the freak weather. Hopefully the warmth returns tomorrow with 14 degrees Celsius predicted and getting better as the week goes on.

True. The Fawad Alam brigade will be going for imamulHaq s head no matter what he does. It will continue for a while.

Anyways, love reading your posts Junaids, pp would become boring without your insightful posts and vast history knowledge.

Thanks for the kind words.

I actually don’t think Pakistan will lose 2-0: they will get nicely warmed up in Ireland and it will be like the 2016-17 Spring series in NZ, which would have only been a narrow 1-0 defeat if they hadn’t gone crazy and tried to score 200 after Tea on the last day.

I think one Test will be rain-ruined and the other will be a low-scoring May Test on a green wicket.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Pakistan beat England 1-0.

I wish I was as optimistic as you ;) Though anything can happen, but high chance the Dukes ball and swing will expose us, like always.

The thing is, if it’s a really damp May it won’t swing much.

It’s frustrating - this is the one series in which Mohammad Asif bowling at 126K would have been unplayable.

The weather could be a factor for the outcome of the Tests also. No idea why any series needs to be played so early in the summer in England.

The World Cup.

Basically, every cricket lover in the country will be focused on Russia from early June to mid July.

This series is deliberately being got out of the way before attention turns away from cricket.

Pakistan would've lost to Kent, so I wouldn't put it past Pakistan to lose to Ireland.

Poor weather has costs us some preparation time. Not the best time to play test cricket in England in. Best time is July/August.

Give the guy a break. He scored equal to Azhar, Sami, Babar, Haris and Shafiq combined!

pak batters got a go - that was probably the most important thing going into this practice match

England have a struggling batting but I expect them to do well at home. Pakistan bowling will do well but will they be able to out bat England is the question. It will be an interesting series though.

Pakistan bowling will do well, or we will find justifications to blame it on others besides Amir, or justify by saying other bowlers 'released' pressure from the other end while Amir 'built pressure.' Make no mistake about it, this should be the last england tour for Amir, no more excuses for his failiures... No more dropped catches excuse, or he's just coming back to International cricket. If he doesn't act like the senior pro of this bowling squad (namely the only guy from the 2010 era playing in 2018 in England test matches) then he should just pack his bags and retire from Test Cricket

So better chance of play today as it looks sunny (ie non-rainy)

Why not have inspections before 12:30 if it has drained well?

Test series are always played in May, ts no different to any other year in UK. But yes weather isnt always great this time of year.

Ermm not really.

Standard ECB scheduling has seen one team play a 'small' series from May-June, followed by the major July-August series. You had SL in 2014, NZ in 2015 and SL again in 2016 - all touring from May to June. Last season disrupted the standard pattern with the Champions Trophy.

Nothing to do with the WC. Pakistan are just following the same line as everyone else has.

Is Kent in Africa or in Europe? Rain 1 day and they cannot dry in 3 days. ICC should fine the cricket board for negligent. If its in Ireland then they should not arrange any international match.

This match should be called off!!!1 day rain and 3 days are not enough to play is simply mockery of cricket

If I have to play club cricket in this weather, then the internationals can do it without moaning

Who says they are moaning?
This is the whole point of touring abroad / adjusting to different conditions.

It takes time.
To see all these arm chair experts writing the team of after just 5 days in the UK...... well well.

I have not seen Amir bowl, but looking at the scorecard he has been pretty expensive goint at 3.88 an over, while Hasan is only 0,57.

What's wrong with Amir? Does he seriously want to play in tests or want to be a franchise players across the globe like Yasir Arfat or Sohail Tanvir?

Those pics show that the sun is out. Looks like perfect batting conditions :srt

looks like we are going to be bdaly defeated if our prime bowlers are going more than 4 per over in helping conditions against the non internationl players.

Amir is bowling pure filth though. Just saw 2 clips on Kent's website. One was really wide loosner out side off stump and another easy leg stump volley.

Not much swing either.

it will happen if u are hungry for money with no motivation to play test cricket.

Horrible bowling, PAK bowlers must be bowling T20 length; otherwise on this wicket 76/1 in 31 overs is unexplainable.

Watch the clips on Kent's website. Aamir wasn't bowling a disciplined line. And hardly any flight or drift from Shadab.

Mohd Amir should not have been a part of this squad to begin with. He has not merited a place in the Test squad over the last year. He was average in PSL. But we keep going back to him. Not surprised at all he has been hammered.

As I said previously, Mohammed Irfan should have been included (if a leg spinner was going to be picked). Zafar Gohar should have also been in the mix. No way Shadab should have been picked. He is an exciting prospect but young and should be handled with care.

It was a poor choice not to include a second keeper in case of injury to Sarfraz.

Relax guys Shadab was always in line for a phainty.

Amir and Hasan should be banned from T20 cricket from now on.

Shadab removed from the attack. Has Pakistan taken any other spinner along with him? If not, I see them playing 4 pacers in the first test who would be happy that this is not a long series.

Everyone here knew that Shadab is not worth it in Tests right now given his lack of control and the fact that we are playing in early May and June in England. How come a man like Inzi who has played over 100 Tests and 300 ODIs not understand that simple fact? If you have to pick a spinner, pick one that can act as a stock bowler and control the runs while allowing the pacers to attack from the other end.

I really hope we go in with 4 fast bowlers for the first test. Amir is useless so at least we can have 3 bowlers who can take wickets. Rahat Ali is going to be my choice for being Pakistan's pick of the bowlers in this series.

Maybe wail till the actual tests starts.
PP aunties overreacting for a practise game.

:))

What people need to realise is that there’s almost a month until we play England and we will have more practice. No amount of net sessions can substitute match practice.

Pak made a mistake by not playing Faheem Ashraf. He would have shown the Aukat of this Club level Kent players.

The fast bowlers performance is the real matter of concern. The batting will improve with more time and practice. Shadab is inexperienced in unresponsive conditions. But the fast bowlers should do better. Amir played a lot of cricket in England last summer and should know where to bowl. This is our best attack against Division 2 batsmen.
