I’ve to go visit Karachi in dec-jan but my Pakistani passport expires in April. Does my passport need to have minimum 6-months validity or it doesn’t matter as long as it’s valid?

Are you concerned about entering Pakistan or entering US?

The Pakistani authorities can be very funny and tough to deal with. All I can say is to get information from the high commission.

I visited the Pakistani consulate in nyc and three people gave me three different answers :/

ur passport must have minimum 6 months validity from the day you board ur return flight... they will turn u back if less time... so once u fly out after that u must travel back with minimum 6 months on passport... nicop etc isnt a big headache as long as it even has 1 day left on returning day... but u will be stopped and questioned/hassled....

so unless u r making a quick trip with having ur passport valid for 6 mnths from return date and dont plan on travelling in the near future, ride it out, otherwise go get it renewed (u can do that when u enter ur last yr of pasp validity)...

Got it thanks!

You need to renew it. Needs to be valid for 6 months plus for international travel. I was literally at our consulate in nyc last week to figure this out.

I went for priority processing which is expensive but youlll get it in 2 weeks. But if you have time do normal and pay less than half the cost

Entering Pakistan for a Pakistani is no problem, you can enter even if your passport expires in one day as long as you have NIC/NICOP.

but lets say he has to return to US in a few weeks there is no guarantee that he will have a new passport in hand in that time period. So better be safe than sorry and renew it now

If the person is travelling back to US on green card and visa then you must have at least 6 months of valid passport.

If the person is travelling back to US on US passport then no issue at all as long the passport has not expired on the day of entry.
If the person is a Pakistani origin US/Canadian citizen then make NICOP and you will not need a Pakistani passport or Pakistani visa to travel to Pakistan.

Person does not require a 6 months valid Passport to enter back into passport issued country.

Going to be at the Islamabad airport soon. The new one, anyone knowing about what kind of airport it is?

I was turned away at London Heathrow flying to ISB as I had 5 months remaining on my passport. Please renew your passport before travelling.

Think there are a couple of threads on PP already, a quick search should help you find them.

I think initially, the reaction was negative to the new airport but since then I've had alot of family and friends travel over there and they've found it okay.

I found one about phones and stuff but couldn't really find anything specific about it. All I know is that I can only take one electronic device like a phone at one time.

Thank you for the input Haroon.

If you are Pakistani citizen traveling on Pakistani passport it doesn't matter. I entered Pakistan with 2 days left on my passport. Had it renewed urgent next day
