This is all good but frankly speaking MIG bro, is Kabul even safe for Pakistani cricketers? Sure, they have there small league and stuff and that's great but with growing Anti-Pakistan sentiments in Afghanistan and with most of their land under control of the Taliban along with a weak army, can they really host Pakistan without anything going wrong?!

Sure, even playing in India would be risky for Pakistan however India is a stable country and has a good security team and system that will protect any celebrities and tourists, however, a struggling, war torn country like Afghanistan doesn't give me a lot of hope for the safety of our cricketers..

Time to bring Afridi, Misbah, Younis, Irfan so can get get match practice for future matches.

Well lets see if Pak players take a stand or not.

PCB and ACB to work together on various Cricket Development Programs

Lahore - May 27, 2017: A delegation led by Chairman Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Mr. Shukrullah Atif Mashal called on Chairman PCB Mr. Shahryar Khan and Chairman Executive Committee PCB Mr. Najam Sethi today in Lahore and agreed on various areas of future cooperation between the two boards.

In the meeting both Chairmen reiterated the deep bonds of friendship between the two boards. PCB’s role in the development of Afghan Cricket was recognized and the deep spirit of brotherhood between the two countries was mentioned as the building block for future cooperation.

PCB and ACB have agreed in principle to

· Organize two Friendly T20 matches between the two countries with each side touring the other country for the same in the near future.

· Organize a bilateral series between the National Teams of the two countries in due course.

· A preparatory Camp for the ACB U19 team in Karachi followed by a bilateral series between the U19 teams of the two countries

· Future bilateral series between the emerging and “A” teams of the two boards

· Future bilateral series between the U16 teams of the two boards

· PCB providing Technical support with the training of ACB Curators , scorers, umpires, analysts and coaches

· Explore the possibility of matches between the regional teams of the two boards

· Making available the PCB’s Bio Mechanical facility for testing of Afghan Cricketers

· PCB will push for greater interaction of ACB in the Asian Cricket Council and in World Cricket in general

· PCB to work on providing a stadium in Pakistan which ACB would use as a home venue.

In his comments on today’s meetings Chairman ACB Mr. Shukurullah Atif Mashal said “ We are looking for good relations between the two boards and the relation should be based on mutual respect and interest. Sport will not be affected by Politics while we use Sport, especially Cricket to influence the political scenario positively. We want good relations with all Cricketing Nations.

Chairman PCB Mr. Shahryar Khan while commenting on today’s meeting said, “We have a very deep set and brotherly relationship with our neighbor board the ACB. PCB has played a leading role in the past to support the ACB and the development of Afghan Cricket. We have had a very positive meeting today where we have identified areas of future cooperation between the two boards. We congratulate the ACB on the heartening success and popularity of Afghan Cricket and look forward to working with our partners at the ACB to further the strong bond between our two boards”

Chairman Executive Committee PCB Mr. Najam Sethi commenting after the meeting said, “The recent positive developments in Afghan cricket are especially pleasing to PCB as it continues the long history of support by PCB to its fellow cricket boards in furthering their skills in the game.

Hopefully would like to see this as an opportunity to build ties with Afghanistan and also to make friends with them, really wish that any hatred amongst the two is gone.

It's great political issues are sidelined for sport. Sport can help unite people and hopefully this move will show both Afghani's and Pakistan's we can be close friends.

If Kabul is safe to travel too.

ACB spokesman has confirmed to PakPassion that the matches will go ahead despite some rumours floating around about cancellation etc due to external pressures

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday defended its plan to play matches with Pakistan.

During his visit to Pakistan, ACB’s chairman Shukrullah Atif Mashal on Sunday announced that Afghanistan and Pakistan will host each other for two T20 matches with the first in Kabul.

The announcement drew mixed reactions in Afghanistan.

Asadullah Momand, a cricket fan posted on social media: “Unless Pakistan changes its policy on Afghanistan, maintaining good relations hurts Afghanistan. We don’t want cricket matches with Pakistan.”

Another fan Abdul Jamil Wardak, however, defended the matches: “Don’t mix politics with sports. We will play with all countries including Pakistan.”

Speaking at a press conference in Kabul, ACB’s chairman also defended the matches saying sports is separate from politics.

“We visited Pakistan following repeated invitations from Pakistan Cricket Board… We have made no such a deal which is against national interests,” Mashal said.

He added that the recent agreement with PCB favours Afghan cricket.

Exact dates for the matches have not been set yet. PCB hopes that they would be held in July or August.

Mashal said that a technical committee will be set up to prepare schedule for the matches.

I disagree with the ACB spokesman. Both the ACB and PCB are state controlled institutions. You can't play the "sports is separate from politics" card when the government directly controls and funds your organization.

80 people killed as a suicide bomb hits the diplomatic quarter of Kabul.

Are we sure this is a good idea ?

The only difference is that government's policy here is quite supportive of playing sports against political rivals including arch rivals India.

And why shouldn't they? Politics shouldn't be in sport. However there are individuals or groups of people who coalesce both, which then make it harder for governing bodies to seperste the two.

I feel building ties with Afghanistan will be good for the future of Pakistan cricket. If they can show that Pakistan is safe to travel, the gates will open to, let's say West Indies, then maybe SL, etc.
At the same time Afghanistan are on the rise so playing against other nations would do wonders for then.

Both mutual winners.

I hope they are following the news and violence and blasts happening everyday. Pakistan is far far safer than Kabul at the moment and they should play only in Lahore. Lets hope things will improve in Afghanistan soon. Such a beautiful country suffering for almost 4 decades now.
