He was no 3 in world cup 2022. Check the scorecards of pak vs Bangladesh and games prior to that.

He avg 28 with a sr of 161 at no 3 while at other positions he doesnt even cross a 10 avg or a 110 SR.

True but at least we are not aiming to get 160 odd everytime we go out to bat, whether it's a flat pitch or not...thank God we have moved away from that strategy

Fakhar is a superior version of babar and rizwan in any whiteball format.

Babar and rizwan have never been > Fakhar in odi. In t20 despite falhar being a failure in that format, Ba/riz were only > Fakhar in 2021 during their purple patch phase. Afterwards Fakhar is still marginally better then both at any no.

T20 cricket is all about scoring above par. Even then you need to bowl out of your skin to defend that total against the top teams.

Aiming for par totals was stupidity beyond belief, and we got exposed as soon as our bowling attack lost form.

Fakhar is the best opener for Pakistan period lol. End of story. He is by far the best. However he is now 35 and id like farhan and saim to open.

But neither saim nor farhan have surpassed him. Fakhar is the reason we become world no 1 ranked t20 side in 2018, and his achievements in odi hasnt been replicated by any opener since saeed Anwar for Pakistan.

And secondly he is 35, he is now at expiry date.

I think you are the one not understanding my words and picking fights for no reason.

Fakhar is the best, but he is at expiry. End of.

We wasted Fakhar’s t20 career by trying to force him top order. Remember the moment he batted in that nz series with how comfortable and ease he looked middle order. Even in ODIs I think he succeeds in spite of being ill suited to opening, because he makes it up in middle late order and there’s enough time in Odis to accelerate.

I have never heard of an any other great opener whose weakness is early/opening overs. He struggles to both stay in and to hit there. How exactly are you using the position of opener to your benefit when you excel accelerating in middle and late overs. He just tries to somehow survive early. It doesn’t make sense why Fakhar is somehow the one exception in cricket.

Still a great ODI career, but think overall we could have got even more out of him.
 
I wouldn’t be too happy with this total at the end. Should have got 220 in the end with the base we had while both Nawaz were batting.

I will vouch for Fakhar to open if its between babar and rizwan.

In the thread you opened you clearly missed the context of ba/riz still opening in t20. How was i suppose to know that farhan and saim would be eventually replacements?

Regardless Fakhar is better then both saim and farhan. They both have similar numbers but fakhar actually has his 2018 achievement to gloat.

Difference is fakhar is 35 now while farhan is 6 years younger and saim is 12 years younger hence we need to groom the future.

Which is ehy I dont mind pk looking for 2 new openers and fakhar being used as a placeholder at 3/4. I'll be surprised if falhar makes it to 2027 wc.

I will repeat again, Babar and rizwan aren't better then Fakhar in any whiteball format, Same is the case with Saim and Farhan.

Fakhar opens ahead of ba/riz 10 ways till Sunday.

But farhan and saim have more potential and intent then ba/riz and have more potential to surpass fakhar in t20 eventually now that fakhar is 35.

In odi, neither saim, nor farhan are surpassing fakhar. I doubt anyone Pakistani batsmen is not for another decade atleast.
 
Pakistan need to fix no.3 position and M Haris. No.7 is important position in T20 which Haris is batting..i dont think he is suited for no.7 position. Pakistan have 2 option..either move Haris at No..3. And bring Abdul Samad at no.7. or they can drop Haris and ask Farhan to keep and bring Samad or Imran niazi at no.7 to fix this problem before all important Asia Cup.
 
What kind of ulluu says “I will fight everyone who said Fakhar shouldn’t be at 4 and should have been opening….”

Even though Fakhar hasn’t opened in the last 5 games for Pakistan?

Fakhar is Pakistan's second greatest opener after Saeed in ODIs. However, he has been absolute rubbish in T20s as an opener. He was always a nervous starter and took his own sweet time to get going. Fakhar performed excellently when he was made to come in the middle overs but then these people here and tv journalists started this propaganda that it is criminal to not have Fakhar opening despite all the stats suggesting that it is completely futile.

All they have is that one innings against Australia in Harare against Billy Stanlake to prove that Fakhar should be opening in T20s. Performing once in a blue moon should be treated as an exception and not the rule.

Yeah I tend to agree -- great ODI opener. But in T20I's he performs best at #4 in terms of both average and sr

I think if there is any match where Pakistan are using Hasan Ali & Faheem as part of your pace attack in a WC match, that match is doomed. Neither swing the ball, or bowl with much accuracy and struggle to bowl with the new ball or in the death.

I'm not sure why Hasan Ali is currently above Wasim Jr in the pecking order. At the international level, his record is quite good.

Appalling how Hasan has not only been picked but been given a B category contract when he isn’t even a first choice bowler. He has been rubbish both with the new ball and even more so at death. And yet Wasim is warming the bench and Abbas is not even in the squad. I understand what Hesson is trying to do but you can never win big tournaments with 2.5 specialist bowlers.

Wasim Jr is just coming from injury, and he had a pretty average outing in the Shaheens tour. So I dont think he is ready yet

Maybe better to play with Shaheen, Rauf & Faheem as the pacers. Replace Hasan Ali with Abrar.

Lanka will be more conducive to spin anyway.

Faheem is the biggest parchi in Pakistan right now. :ns There is no doubt about it.

Hesson doesn't consider Wasim Jr as his alternative. He is preparing lord Hussain Talat as Faheem's backup.:facepalm:

We wont be seeing hasan ali for a while after this match. Not at least until some useless dead rubbers in the asia cup. For now, he is out of the pitcure thanks to asif.
Shaheen and Haris definitely the top picks for the big matches. Only if faheem can bowl a couple of good overs, it will be a good combo

I wish. He was clobbered as badly by Bangladesh and WI but is still here playing in front of Wasim and Abbas.
He will get 4 wickets against Oman, one of the main bowlers will get injured and he will play in a crunch game and put us out of the tournament 🤣
 
Shouldn't draw too many conclusions from this series. Sharjah wicket is much flatter than Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is probably the most sluggish surface of all and very conducive to spin. Neither Dubai or Abu Dhabi are the types of pitches where teams will be scoring 200 that often.
 
Salman Mirza has good control over wide yorkers. Rare to see from a Pakistani bowler these days. They should play him against India.

I'm surprised they dropped Abbas Afridi. He's not a great bowler and can go for runs but definitely a wicket taker and useful with the bat down the order
