What's new

UEFA Champions League | 2016-17 season

Celtic very impressive against City. Pep's men not looking too confident at the Etihad.

I can guarantee one of these 3 fixtures will happen for sure in the next round:

Arsenal vs. Bayern
Arsenal vs. Real Madrid
Barca vs. Bayern

100% confirmed we will see at least one these.

Not too keen on the ecl this year
The UEFA cup seems a lot more competitive at this stage

All the big teams appear somewhat off their game this year.

Quality of football hasn't been great, so the knockouts may be rather unpredictable this time around, and there may be an opening for some underdog side to sneak through to the semis or even further.

Round of 16 begins tomorrow.

Won't be able to watch the games this week on time. Hope to watch the replay later in the day if I manage to not open facebook and see the result.

What a player Draxler is, always turns up in the big games. Was a big part in beating Madrid 2-0 in the UCL last time out and now the same in the 2-0 against Barcelona (even though Barcelona can still get back into the game).

Kudos to PSG. They DESTROYED Barca, something that has only happened a few times in the past 7/8 years.

PSG are right on top in terms of talent and revenue, they just lacked team effort like today which Emery brought in

Their President said he knew they'd lose to Man city even before the game started last season

They had no drive and hence Blanc got sacked........now on song they are a force against any side

Just saw the highlights and auba was horrendous against benfica

Should easily had a hat trick with the chances he blew

Di maria's seond goal yesterday - exemplary

unai emery might have finally quelled his demons.

barcelona were awful last night and that's an understatement

I think Barca will be much better in the second leg but I think it's too much of a mountain to climb now. PSG won't give it away now.

True. FCB needed at least one away goal to keep the tie alive. Expect Barca to win at Camp Nou, but PSG have too much to receive a similar thrashing.

Brilliant playmaking from ronaldo yesterday....

madrid would have easily scored 4-5 in any other day with better finishing

lol arsenal.
i wasnt even finding it funny at the end. felt sorry for them. never thought i would say that.

when u play in that style you need every1 pressing all over the pitch.
when they had ibra up top he couldnt lead that press given his age.
with cavani though... omg

what a game between Monaco and City an eight goal thriller. Great attacking football but some very poor defending dont see any of these teams winning the UCL.

Brilliant comeback from City, but the tie is very much alive. Some really poor defence on show. Atletico well on course to go through though.

Good win for City

Monacos owners lost love with football after he lost half his wealth to a divorce settlement but this sounds like a very good showing from Monaco

Monaco are strong contenders for the Ligue1 title and currently top of the table. They've had a brilliant season and I expected them to at least draw with MCFC, if not win.

The Man City-Monaco match today was awesome. A match of high class quality, goals galore and goal keeping errors always makes for incredible viewing. It was a fair result in the end with City running out 5-3 winners yet don't dismiss Monaco winning the overall tie with the second leg still to come. It's all to play for in a few weeks time, game on.

Man City will be have to be at their best in the away leg. Pep needs to stop being stubborn and should tell his players to clear the ball from the defensive third if a short pass isn't the safest option.

They'll get nowhere with defending like that.

A decent result for Leicester to nab an away goal and only lose 2-1 considering Sevilla's dominance. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the team in danger of EPL relegation ended up in the UCL quarter-finals...

MSN seem to be back in form. Don't think the 2nd leg will be a walk in the park for PSG.

Real Madrid 3-1 Napoli
Napoli 1-3 Real Madrid

Bayern 5-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-5 Bayern

Kinda goes to show that Bayern and Madrid are on another level, home or away, no difference in result. Decisive victories for both.

RM did not play well until Ramos happened. Disappointing with the display tonight.

Arsenal on the other hand:))):)))

How can their fans tolerate this humiliation?

Wow, wow, wow! :aag

PSG are bottlers. :))) :))) :))).

Even had they gone through I'm certain they would have bottled it vs Bayern,Real,or Juventus. But they go and bottle it anyway. :))) :)))

What in the world?!

That was incredible. PSG got wrecked in 5 minutes. :)))

Luis Enrique knows. :msd

He will be out of a job at the end of the season, not a bad application :mv

Football's equivalent of when South Africa chased 435 against Australia in that ODI.

When Iniesta scored that goal against Chelsea I ran out my house and did three laps round my house.

Today I jolted out in my knickers in freezing weather and I don't know how many miles I just ran. I think I got frostbite.

:35::35::35:

Once again got plenty of help from the Ref's.

Suarez penalty was pure simulation. PSG not awarded clear penalty first half.

Both Suarez and Neymar should have been sent off.

Give us Madrid next please shaz619 Red Devil

soft penalties, offside goals too much added minutes

It's a pale rehash of stamford 2009 all over again

Bw breathtaking football shown by neymar in dying minutes....unbelievable class that was under immense pressure

One of the greatest come backs ever. When you play this good, you probably deserve some luck.

Offside goals? 5 minutes of added time after five goals had been scored were too many? As for soft penalties, aren't those what the scuba diver in your team specialises in? :cr7

SMH ... the tears of Real fans crying about refs ... I think they are gonna form a new river in Madrid.

1st goal offsides claim - ball came of Verratti.
3rd goal PK - intentional or not he impeded Neymar.
5th goal PK - Marquinhos left hand hits Suarez on the neck, his right hand is on his back and his legs also clip Suarez. Yes dracula did embellish but there was enough in it.
5 minutes added time - there were 6 subs and 5 goals to be accounted for.

Also, I clearly recall the commentators mention that PSG were lucky to get away with a tug on Messi's shirt in the penalty area.

At the end of the day, everyone knows Suarez is a dirty player (sadly, like many others in today's world of football), however, I think Barcelona were 100% deserving of their win and neither of the penalties they were awarded can be labelled a "wrong decision".

The post you quoted was strictly regarding the game against PSG. I would like to know more about the supposed "offside goals" and "too much stoppage time" you brought up. Those are blatant fabrications on your part.

The only soft penalty was the Suarez dive. He was also caught diving earlier, so it was admittedly disgraceful. Anyway, Messi had played him through, so he should've scored instead of diving, but alas, he's a dirty player. Neymar's penalty was 100% legitimate due to some ridiculous play from the PSG guy where he lost his footing but deliberately used his head to impede Neymar.

I don't recall any other bias in Barca's favour from the referee. Like I had mentioned in another post above, the commentators had suggested that PSG were fortunate to get away with a shirt tug on Messi in the box, therefore, if anything, it all evens out and Barca are fully deserving of their historic victory.

Those goals weren't off,n first view i thought it was but about that penalities it was indeed in favour of barca

suarez one was clear cut dive so was neymar's one, their the conatct came after he fell down

And mascherano fouled de maria when he was one-one with the goal keeper...fun if you would say the first two were legit penalties and the third one wasn't....Then both pique and mascherano both handed the ball.... in recent matches including madrid one those kind of contact were given as penalities.....

8 minutes added time in 2 half's were too much...from where these much time wasting occurred?

3-4 penalities in favouring one club is too much, this is not cricket to say those numbers were minimal

PSG was awul but if they have treated well then the tie would have been different....If u accent or not the refereeing was abysmal
