What's new

UEFA Champions League | 2016-17 season

Those goals weren't off,n first view i thought it was but about that penalities it was indeed in favour of barca

suarez one was clear cut dive so was neymar's one, their the conatct came after he fell down

And mascherano fouled de maria when he was one-one with the goal keeper...fun if you would say the first two were legit penalties and the third one wasn't....Then both pique and mascherano both handed the ball.... in recent matches including madrid one those kind of contact were given as penalities.....

8 minutes added time in 2 half's were too much...from where these much time wasting occurred?

3-4 penalities in favouring one club is too much, this is not cricket to say those numbers were minimal

PSG was awul but if they have treated well then the tie would have been different....If u accent or not the refereeing was abysmal

Completely disagree regarding the Neymar penalty. It was a blatant foul and the only one diving was Meunier as he used his head to impede Neymar.

Apparently the petition cannot be considered until PSG launch an official complaint against UEFA - which they have not done yet.
It was a Real Madrid fan who made the petition lmao

PSG fans aren't even mad about it and most admit they didn't deserve to go through.

The way Real Madrid fans have reacted should tell you how afraid they are.

Hope we draw them next and give them another reason to cry :sree

Top of the league with a game in hand! :ronaldo

I think PSG are too embarrassed with their shambolic display and want to move on and get over it quickly. Doesn't look like they'll even win Ligue 1 this year.

Man City essentially playing a 4-1-5 formation.

De Bruyne and Silva can't defend to save their lives.

You can't play an all out attack team in an away European tie when the other team is looking for goals.

Toure should've started. Pep will regret this.

City defence costing them yet again and Monaco showing what a talanted team they have

Yaya is a liability defensively as well

stronger, better in the air. When you're gonna be defending for most of the game, I'd have Yaya in my team.

Right now is when Man City can play with this 4-1-5 since they are the ones chasing the game, not at the start of the game when they were 2 goals ahead.

Yes I don't doubt him arielly but holding his position and being disciplined lol? No way. He is extremely lazy when it comes to defending. Watch him under Pellegrini and you'll see.

Right now they can bring him on and he should have started, but defensively he is useless

Manchester City are so bad defensively LOL. Giving away 6 goals against Monaco, imagine what Bayern or Barcelona could do against them.

To be fair, I believe Monaco are the highest scoring side in Europe with an insane 126 goals this season. :broad

Lol too much over confidence mate....if you are follow this barca regularly u know that there is nothing scary on this barca side

They are just beaten by a no 17 deportivo side who are fighting for the relegation

I have no hope on this madrid side, right now as a team they are too bad but you are hyping too much

This madrid can be beaten but on their day they can devastate any team including your barca such is the individual quality

Chances for el classico is very high in next round,am not seeing 3 spanish teams advancing to semis

In last 3 years barca drawed against atletico twice and madrid derby once so this time may be a classico

no falcao n they still go through.

monaco look like a dark horse, will not want to face them next round.

'Play like a man!' - Nasri slams 'cheat' Vardy after red card

Samir Nasri has labelled Jamie Vardy a "cheat" following the Leicester City striker's role in the Sevilla star's red card in Tuesday's Champions League last 16 second leg.

Goals from Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton saw the Foxes into the quarter-finals for the first time in the club's history, with Nasri receiving his marching orders in the second half following a clash with Vardy.

England international Vardy seemed to push Nasri off the ball, leading to the former Arsenal man reacting and moving his head towards Vardy's and receiving his marching orders.

Nasri, though, felt Vardy had acted in a cowardly manner, claiming the forward dived to get him in trouble.

"He didn’t say anything but he played it well. We went face to face and then he fell on the floor," he told reporters.

"I thought the English player was tougher than that. He was the one who came to my face, and then went on the floor. He played it well.

"I didn’t touch him, I didn’t do anything with my head. He went on the floor and then the referee gave us both a yellow card.

"For me, he is a cheat. Because if he was a foreign player, you the English press would say he is a cheat.

"They were winning 2-0, play the game like a man. Win it. You are not better than us but you are winning 2-0, you will qualify, just play the game. You have quality, you are an international player, you don’t need to do that."

Nasri needed to be restrained following his dismissal, and seemed to gesture towards Vardy that he would speak to him after the game.

But the former France international was reluctant to reveal exactly what he would have told the Leicester man so as to avoid any further punishment.

"I would love to speak to him but you know too many cameras, too many security, and I have to think about next year and not getting a big suspension.

"We are not playing in the same league so it would be hard for me to get back at him. It doesn’t matter any more."

UCL from last 4-5 years has become boring and predictable though the quality of football is still superb

Any format changes in near future

Borussia Dortmund v Monaco postponed after explosions near team bus

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/apr/11/borussia-dortmund-explosion-team-bus

Was on the way to the Bermudadreieck in Bochum to watch the game when I saw the news. Shocking stuff altogether. Have tickets to a Dortmund game next month too.

Far too many of these incidents have been occurring in NordRhein Westphalia the past year, hope the culprits are caught and punished. Passion and care for fans here in Germany is unmatched around the world, if anything they'll return stronger from this incident.

Monaco have really turned a corner this season. Dark horses for the UCL title, I reckon.

Mediocre display from Bayern. They were bound to regret Vidal's botched penalty. Real can do some real damage here, as it's been very one sided after the red card.

It was going to be hard for Borussia Dortmund to focus 100% on their match today after what had just happened but fair play to Monaco, can't have been easy for them either. So it's looking like last 4 will be Monaco, Juventus, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid

And then Ronaldo goes and buries Munich away. Poor Messi and his fan can't catch a break.
Against 10 man Bayern, didn't you give Messi grief for scoring goals against 10 man teams. But I guess that goes out the window for Ronaldo, even when he has had a miserable season with Real fans turning their back on him :))

Messi is carrying a team that is struggling produced several chances that were not capitalized on against Juventus.

Just stop comparing the two, comparing Ronaldo to Messi is like comparing Shehzad to Kohli.

Does my head in when people are so blind to it.

Ronaldo is only compared to Messi because he is a distant #2 to Messi.

If the individual rewards were rewarded to the best footballer every year, Messi would be closing in on 10 Ballon d'Ors. But that's not the case, Ronaldo's PR team and FIFA have kept him in the contest for publicity. Anyone with eyes can see who the superior player is.

Obviously didn't watch the game, did you?

Ronaldo's first goal was against 11 men, he was tackled for the player to be sent off and then scored the second.

Messi on the other hand, needed his players to bail out his shocking performances against PSG, but that doesn't fit the narrative of Messi doing it all by himself, does it!

At this stage, Messi is the Shehzad and Ronaldo is the Kohli as Ronaldo has more goals for club and country and is the leading goalscorer in European football history.

100 goals for Cristaino but Bayern still have a chance dont write off Carlo Ancelotti

Say this to someone who haven't followed neither cricket nor football

Before claiming these blunders do try to follow some matches at least

The only reason barca still in this CL's is because of neymar's last minute brilliance and when everyone's were off what messi did their?Against bayern most madrid players were poor including the likes of bale, modric, casemiro, and benzema still ronaldo finds a way to keep them alive in the tie regardless of they were trailing in the first half thats how big players responds in big stages

Nowadays messi is a kinda minnow basher so its better to use the extreme opposite phrase here he is like a kamran, shehzad type and ronaldo is in kohli, abd league

Thankfully, no botched Vidal penalty attempt to let Real off the hook this time. Hope Bayern can maintain this level of intensity and complete a turnaround.

HAHAHAHA. Red card for winning the ball. Offside goal not disallowed. Referees have been amazingly charitable to Real this season.

4 taps in and an offside goal are going to get this con artist another Ballon d'Or

What a damn disgrace, Messi has been the best footballer on the planet for the last 10 years at least.

Would be a travesty if the media vote give it to this selfish player after doing jack all for 99% of the season.

The biggest con this fool has pulled is making his idiotic marks believe he's in the same league as Messi.

No mention of the refs robbing Bayern in this tie?

Red card for Vidal, Real madrid should have seen red and Ronaldo's offside goal.

Mind-boggling incompetence from the officials. Deservedly lambasted by Pat.

The media could win Ronaldo 100 Ballon d'Or's, he still won't be in Messi's league nor will he be in the GOAT discussion. That's the truth and we all know it :)))

There's a reason why Messi is mentioned in same discussion as other GOATs like Pele and Maradona, while Ronaldo is not, ever. Even by his biggest stans.

Where are the butt hurt Real fans who were complaining about the PSG tie? :)))

Are you going to start the petition for a rematch or should I? :)))

I wonder how many CL titles your dodgy club has bought.

BTW Ronaldo was offside for 2 of his goals :)))

Bayern Munich got absolutely robbed -

1. Caseimiro did enough to get sent off 2 times.
2. Vidal sent off on a legit challenge.
3. Two BM chances incorrectly called offsides.
4. Then the kiss of death offsides goals from Ronaldo.

Comparatively Barca only got 1 dodgy call against PSG.

Where's the outrage from PP's Real Madrid fans?

They blew a gasket for much less in the Barca-PSG match. This was legit fixed and robbery.

Soooooo many dodgy calls against Bayern.

Enough to warrant a petition. I want to see the same outrage from Real fans or they're only proving themselves to be huge hypocrites.

1. Bayern got a penalty in the first game that was not there.
2. The second penalty was very thin and Robben doing his acting again.
3. Casemiro could have been sent off.
4. Vidal was correctly sent off. Watch it on slow. He get's Asensio first. Regardless he could have been sent off even earlier for a challenge against Casemiro.
5. Both Ronaldo goels were offside.

Thing to notice is Real did not pressure ref or tried to fool him like Neymar and Suarez. It's the ref who got the offsides wrong.

Hahah the Messi fans are in a desperate state tonight. Imagine Leo ever had the talent and application to score 5 goals against Bayern and Neuer over two legs.

Also, to the people crying to robbery, I have this for you. Early in the second half and with the game at 2-1 on agg Vidal should have got a second yellow and sent off right there and then ending the tie before Bayern got back in it.

Bayern's second goal was also offside and a respectable German correspondent is bang on the money with his assessment.

lets not be too one sided. lewandowski was offside for the ramos own goal ( and interfering)
bayern gt a cheap penalty in game 1
and robben bought 1 today too. casemeiro didnt touch him
yes they were tougher calls but just to provide a bit of perspective

Lewandowski offside for Ramos own goal.

Agree the refereeing was horrible and ronaldo's first goal was off but the overall quality of the referee was abysmal. In the first leg he gave away an easy penality in favour of bayern too

Between coming all this from a barca fan make me laugh on the floor because you guys have favoured by the worst decisions in history

Dont just post the pics show the entire video

Marcelo is already ahead of all defenders he can pass the ball to ronaldo now.. cause offside is for ball been passed to a player who is positiomed ahead of opponent's player but if the ball has already passed all the players how can it be an offside?am not sure about this

see the rule

Vidal had clear contact with asensio watch this

Though vidal deserves the red card way back precisely on the 48 minute i guess

Bayern only had 2 shots on target i guess in the whole 120 minutes as compared to madrid's numerous attemts.By a country mile madrid were the better team and deserves to go ahead

Care to explain Lewandowski being called offside when he was unmarked?

As for the PK, they didn't score? Does it matter lmao, it doesn't matter because they didn't make use of it. The call had zero bearing or impact on the game.

Ronaldo had 49 goals in the knock out stages that was insane by football standards. The way he steps down in every big matches makes him numero uno.He was below par this season by his standards but he just scored his first and only ever hattrick in a Club World Cup final, a hattrick away to Atletico, 5 of the 6 goals over two legs in the QFs of the UCL against one of the best teams in the world in Bayern Munich.I am sure messi can't be this much consisitent in big games regardless of the talent he has got.He will scrub on pressure for sure Every now and then messi's beloved fans obessed with ronaldo's perfos and keep comparing messi with pele and maradona to sums up discussions.

Ronaldo just transformed from an entertainment oriented winger to this super efficient monster, which sort of makes his career even more impressive. Its not a matter of opinion anymore. He is the greatest scorer ever without a shred of a doubt. His hunger, instinct and goalscoring touch is unmatched.I remember a documentary about Ronaldo Fenomeno 'A life for the goal'. That title would be much more suited for CR7
