Usman Khan Shinwari Thread

Sunny@ This guy is not Test Class Fast bowler

Said that on Post number 125 Before he did 5/9 Performance

but can be Great odi/T-20 Class Bowler even with 1 way Swing

Haven't picked many wicket in One Day Cup either my frd. 8 matches and only 6 wickets.
He needs to improve. I saw him bowling in Advance Telecom Ramadan T-20 Cup and Moin Khan Corporate Cup. He was pretty erratic with his line and could not swing after 2 overs like he did in his initial two overs. The conditions in Lahore were bowling friendly. He needs to sort out his channel of line and length to right handers. Let him play the whole season and then see his stats. It's premature to think about his inclusion in the team for T-20 WC right now.

I hope Usman can develop inswinger quickly, Pakistan badly need good new ball bowlers.

only played 2 List-a Matches Taken 2 wickets
and 2 FC Matches taken 8 Wickets

Cricinfo Has Mess up with Usman Profile

Oh bhai... I'm following his matches regularly. He has played all the List A matches of this season. Why would ZTBL drop him or rest him for the One Days? He hasn't been successful despite playing.

He looks very promising, looking at his records on the PCB page, he seems to have been bowling very well.

Stick to Cricket in this thread !

Just heard on geo that Hafeez and Misbah want the kid fast tracked to the T20 and ODI squad against Sri Lanka.

That will be tremendous news,if it comes true! I would love to see him bowl with Irfan.
Junaid is a good bowler as a first change but he is not good enough as an opening bowler-I am not saying he is bad,he is good but not good enough. :dav

I dont think he is anything special , he bowled well thay day but he wasnt getting late swing. It was a steady swing which should not be a problem in international arena.

Shinwari can be a ‘surprise’
weapon for World T20 - Wasti

Good comments from Wasti.

“Usman Shinwari can prove to be a really good surprise weapon for Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” Wasti told The Express Tribune.

“He isn’t an easy bowler to face in the T20 format, especially because batsmen have less time to settle when the ball is moving and that is where a bowler gets wickets.

“Usman can prove to be a surprise weapon just like Sohail Tanvir was in 2007 T20 World Cup and Mohammad Amir was in 2009 mega event, because he can easily bowl over 140kph.”

On the other hand, Wasti warned that he must be allowed to bowl with his natural action and should not be coached.

“We picked him in Islamia Cricket Academy. We haven’t worked on his action as he has an exceptional quality of moving the ball. We have only worked on his fitness so that he can bowl fast.

Our so-called qualified coaches have already ruined a promising bowler in Anwar Ali as his movement has ended. Anwar could’ve been a devastating bowler in international arena but the coaches ruined him and I want to avoid a similar fate for Shinwari.”

And his idol is :wasim, no surprise I guess.

Although he should not change his action, he must do little adjustments like bowl
closer to the crease and take more from his run-up.

Interviewed Usman.

Look out for the interview......very soon :)

Bump

Shinwari has done very well in his odi thus far. Beyond the stats, he actually looks good, pace and swing.

However he has only played a weak Sri Lanka and minnows in Zimbabwae and HK so far.

India will be his first big test

Let’s hope he does well

Mickey Arthur on Shinwari:

"We were poor in both departments. On a wicket like that, you need to strike early but we didn't do that. We went away from our plans too quickly, the batters played outside our roles and the bowlers went away from the plans too quickly. We wanted to bowl hard lengths and make it tough to score. It was tough to score in the first 6 overs but then Shinwari decided to come around the wicket and bowl a bouncer with fine-leg up. We're gonna sit down and talk about that, it's not good enough"

Usman Shinwari seems like an honest trier, but should he be in the starting XI at the World Cup ?

Whilst his numbers are impressive, they are helped by playing lower tier opposition like Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Zimbabwe. It seems under pressure he loses his line completely, notably against India in the Asia Cup he was bowling all over the place when Mickey Arthur asked him to bowl wicket-to-wicket.

He's not the quickest, and as Shaun Pollock noted yesterday, with his action he's always looking to push the ball across the right handed batsmen and will struggle to swing it in. Another issue is fitness and whether he can stay clear of injury to play on a consistent basis.

Rather have Rumman Raees or Junaid Khan instead, too bad they're both injured.

missed out on the WC squad and now back.... good to see him in the squad for the SL series ... good oppertunity
