The cupboard is pretty bare. I liked what I saw from Shaheen as LQ captain, however you can’t give the captaincy to a quick whose workload needs to be judiciously managed.

I do like the idea of Shadab in T20s as long as he has real power, I.e. the ability to break up that RizBab top order. Mostly they need a very very good coach to guide the captain. Babar arguably hasn’t had that yet for Pakistan.
 
Giving it to Shaheen will be an Ultra positive aggressive move.

Yes, people talk about Shaan's so great test average in the past, but he is in great form now. Azhar had good average in the past now he is just a liability.
 
12 months of home Test cricket and not a single win. Time for Babar to either resign (unlikely as he has no shame), or be sacked.
 
I think we dont play test cricket for few months and people will forget about test captaincy for now. Unlikely he will be removed when we have ODI WC later this year
 
No win in the last 8 matches. All draws or loses.

He can’t bat and captain at the same time. He’s compromising his batting ability by being under pressure as captain all the time because he’s not good enough in that role. Possibly buckled in yet another 2nd innings today due to that reason.

It’s time.

Vacate the position or you will be removed forcibly.
 
Yes remove him but don't pick a player who is not a garranteed starter such as Masood as captain.

I think it's clear now - Sarfraz should replace Babar in all formats. He's a much better captain and he's in good form. Babar should focus on being a "no.1 batsman in all formats" as that is his main goal.

After a dismal home season, Pakistan cricket is preparing for a thorough evaluation of its squad structures, which may lead to changes in the captaincy.

The interim selection committee was established by the present PCB administration, which is itself a provisional arrangement. Saqlain Mushtaq, the head coach of the national men's team, is expected to resign after his contract expires in February.

It seems that changes are already afoot with Shadab Khan, Babar's regular deputy who is sidelined with a finger injury, replaced as vice-captain of the ODI team by Shan Masood, who was appointed by Sethi who has expressed a clear interest in Shan's inclusion in the XI.

Things are not good. The Babar lobby in the team and the players agents and the anti Babar lobby in the PCB are going to get into a serious tussle. It is sad that at this stage of his career, Babar is getting involved in all this, he should see the writing on the wall and just step down from the captaincy in a self respecting manner. What is more important for him? Retaining the Pakistani captaincy by hook or crook even if he is unwanted or playing for Pakistan and giving his best as a batsman?

As far as I think, Babar will never let go off captaincy.. he will be admanant on retaining captaincy..unless he is sacked..

One thing which PCB has done wrong is get Shan as VC, when he wasnt even part of ODIs earlier.. i think PCB should look at Shadab as future ODI and T 20 captain, instead of Shan..

With this ODI and T20I captaincy record, it would an extremely foolish/ridiculus/stupid decision by PCB and the selectors if they remove Babar from white ball captaincy.

What I’m saying is please don’t use a questionable record against weak sides to suggest it would be silly to remove Babar

Inzimam had a good ODI captaincy record and there was no concept of playing significantly weakened or developing players side in his era. Babar’s record as captain will always be questionable in this era, especially considering he was playing his full strength side against those teams that he won against.

And I’m not related to any of them. I am a brand in my own right

the pictures and what people see in front of them weigh a lot more than just the stats/numbers on a piece of paper. Everyone knows about Babar's incompetency and we don't need no numbers to justify otherwise.

To save time, we can introduce multiple captains simultaneously instead of Rizwan in all 3.

Rizwan in some format, Shan in another format.

I wonder what kind of record will lead them to being dropped by the PCB for 4 years.

Perhaps an ICC trophy, consecutive 11 T20 series wins, Test Series Draw in England?

PCB making Rizwan captain is a very plausible action that could happen.

Tell me if I am correct in my assessment.

I think Rizwan will be a slightly more bearable captain than Babar. He will have the same dodgy game and play tactics. But he will be a massive improvement in communication and charisma on the field and locker room.

It might actually bearable to watch Pakistan matches with him leading the side.

I have seen enough matches to know that Sarfraz is a true lion hearted cricketer that was unjustly dropped by PCB and replaced by non performing and selfish players of all sorts.

That is why Pakistan Cricket keeps losing series after series. Nepotism and corruption is in control.

Very questionable use of Stats.

For T20s, If you remove minnows, Babar has the third worst W/L ratio of all captains that have captained in 40 plus matches

Every captain in the world has it's fair share of wins against minnows.

Plus how do you define minnow in T20s these days? Any team can beat any given day. See below a few recent results - especially BD trashing Aus/NZ and Ireland beating the world champions Eng in the WC.

I’m expecting big fireworks in the coming weeks. Most likely three captains for three formats. The Babar mafia will be out in full swing, player loyalties will be tested, cliques will form. It’s 1995 all over again, Puraana Pakistan has returned!

Bangladesh have been a decent side only for the last couple of years. And the end result is not even close. If you remove the wins against afg, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh who habe only been a decent side recently, his w/l is the third worst captain. That completely changes the story.

Let people choose what they make of the stats. 3rd worst captain when you exclude AFG, IRL, ZIM, BAN, or 2nd best when you include those 4.

I don’t care about Babar as a captain or not. I am just pointing out how stats can be misleading.

The question shouldn’t be about just removing Babar, the question should be about who replaces him?

Pakistan cricket can never have a captain who is not performing. The idiots on this forum advocating the removal of Babar, will be the same ones attacking whoever replaces him in a few months.

Also, there is no ‘leader’ in this team nor in domestic cricket. They are all mentally weak cricketers, who are more worried about themselves and their spot rather than the team.

Think you may have to answer to those who are saying that the new administration is run by those with the best motives.
 
It is becoming clear Babar is a selfish player/captain. He is just focused on getting runs under his belt, no matter if the team is losing.
The trait of making your best player captain has to be taken away.
 
Why is babar taking all the crap from PCB. He is a world class batsmen should come openly and say he is being forced to select such players .

I think you are right but it wont be fun to watch Pakistan play because they will still lose, and your character as a captain changes with losses.

To further add to the OP, another feather in Babar's cap

NZ 190/6, they still manage to chase down 281/8.

How many more matches are we going to lose under Babar's captaincy?

Also sports reporters have confirmed that Sethi has enough cricket knowledge to look beyond stats, even though Babar's T-20 and ODI captaincy stats look impressive on paper, Sethi knows that tactically Babar is a very poor captain and under his leadership Pakistan has lost a lot of games they should have won and this is why the PCB wants to replace him with some other alternative because the team desperately needs a tactically astute captain and cannot afford incompetency from the Captain any further

Lost ODI series v New Zealand
Drawn Test series v New Zealand
Lost Test series v England
Lost T20I series v England
Lost Test series v Australia
 
Im all for Shadab to take over captaincy, but you cant have people who dont merit a place in the squad (Shan) as captain.
 
Shadab is injured every third game. Honestly, Shaheen would be my preferred choice as captain.
 
Pakistan is almost always mediocre at home since the mid 90s. Be it losing test series, ODI series or t20 series. This is just normal operating procedure.
 
Does he only attend press conferences and team celebration dinners when Pakistan win?

Some advice for Babar if he wants to stay relevant:

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Ramiz said that Babar Azam & Co. should take a leaf out of India’s book and try to dominate oppositions at home.

“It's tough to beat India in India. This is something to learn for other sub-continent teams, including Pakistan. It's because Pakistan have enough potential, but the home performance in terms of results or series wins is not as consistent as Team India. This is an important milestone for India in the World Cup year,”
 
Basit Ali has suggested that fast bowler Shaheen Afridi should take over as Pakistan's ODI and Test cricket captain as long as he remains fit. Another option for T20I cricket captaincy is Shadab Khan.

"Babar Azam should quit captaincy. If he leaves captaincy, he will break all records and surpass records made by greats in the game. His captaincy is affecting his performance with the bat, and he should focus on his batting," said Basit Ali.

"Shaheen Afridi should be Pakistan's captain. Shaheen can lead Pakistan in ODI and Test cricket if he remains fit. Shadab Khan could be Pakistan's choice as captain in T20I cricket," he maintained.
