I find the hysteria around Imam bizzare. Pakistani fans are jumping on him like he's committed some crime.
I accept that he has a lot still to prove, but for heaven's sake give the guy a chance. He has had a decent start to his career and yes we know his strike rate needs to improve. Hopefully it will. But on what basis Pakistani fans think it's justifiable to direct all their anger towards Imam is not clear to me.
Even this statement Imam gave to the media before the Engalnd tour started - he was clearly angry at the accusations of nepotism which are unfair. He's in the team because he's performed, and so to pretend he's Faisal Iqbal type is just delusional. Despite knowing that the statement was made in anger against a backdrop of nepotism claims, Pakistani fans here still think it's appropriate to label Imam as arrogant.
A more experienced campaigner would not let all this negativity get to his head, but its clear from that interview that the nepotism claims are a cause of real upset to Imam. He needs to channel that anger and frustration into performing for Pakistan, so that all his critics shut up.
