The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) have unveiled the list of 574 players shortlisted for the highly anticipated mega-auction, which will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The announcement has generated excitement among fans and franchises, but it has also raised concerns due to its timing.

The auction will begin at 3:30 PM (IST) on both days, overlapping with the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series between India and Australia. The first Test of the series starts on November 22 in Perth, with play commencing at 7:50 AM (IST). Although there will be no direct timing conflict, the auction is expected to divide attention between the auction and the on-field action, particularly for Indian players and decision-makers involved in both events.

This scheduling clash presents unique challenges. Indian Test players in the auction pool must balance their focus between the Test match and the auction buzz. Franchise scouts and management will also need to keep an eye on player performances in the Test match while finalizing their bids.

This is as per who?

@BouncerGuy in This same video they are discussing that BGT is bigger than The Ashes .

This series is 45 days long amd IPL auction always happens around this time .it has nothing to do with BGT.

That is what I asked. Look at the question.

Look like my thread has hit on the nerves of IPL fans.

But it was just my opinion. You agree or not that is your call.

What nerve brother? No indian fan's are talking about IPL auction ahead OF BGT .

IPL Auction is different things like how the BBL season will happen during BGT.

My question is simple brother. People don't like to talk about IPL auction vs BGT clash??

IPL auctions almost always clash some cricket tournament or the other.

India was playing in South Africa last year.

India was playing West Indies in 2022

England was in India in 2021

again India was in Australia playing BGT in 2018 too.

Infact, i can't remember if ever there was an IPL auction when India wasn't mid tournament.

The concern for Indian players' focus is truly appreciated but they have been doing the same thing every year. :troll Non-story, lets move on!! :hamster:

Aussies hold their own T20 franchise league at the same time as their test season so I'm not sure why this is a discussion point for them.

IPL has nothing to do with this series so they can hold the auction whenever they like.

Our lovely OP has no idea that IPL auctions almost always clash some cricket tournament or the other.

Op doesn't know much about women's bbl I guess.indian women's odi series against aus women's(Dec 5) Is right after 3 days of women's bbl finals(dec 1).he should have said women's squad announced yesterday was to undermine bbl .

There was a thread on women cricket in July-August. Many posters here don't even think women cricket should exist.

Nah. I don't see any clash.

Playing Cricket and Running Auction are separate things. They don't clash

It's not a clash. Cause Auction is not Cricket. It's like comparing Apples to Oranges

Correct. No clash, apples-oranges.

Only thing likely to happen is when a player is sleeping off his day on the field, he may be recipient of some life changing money!

Why are you guys so triggered??

I think it was a fair question. THERE is so much HYPE for this BGT

I have read and seen pictures that there is huge hype in Australia for the test series. So much that local newspapers have Hindi headlines.

Is there a similar hype in India?

I would say that the IPL auction will have minimal to no effect at all. Any kind of distraction will be limited to off the field. Most likely the Indian and Aussie players counting their $$$$. Also, suddenly finding out that some of the players from the opposite side are now team mates!

Whatever the case may be, the test series will be a good one. Especially for people like me who will be watching in prime time slot.

Ha ha ha. Bigger than the Ashes! Dream on. As a Brit, the Ashes battle is what drives me on when it comes to Test cricket. You can combine all Border - Gavasker series, yet 2005 Ashes series can never be eclipsed.

In India, it's sort of a nervous tension. Even very bullish commentors have toned it down and are being cautious.

The IPL auction is pretty low profile at least in the groups I participate in.

This is Australian cricketers views not some randomly delusion fans. :kp

These are my own views..

comment on it if you think I am wrong. I don't have to learn what I want to say from anyone BRUH.

Basically a Pakistani opinion on nothing that's Pakistani and on something that no one actually involved has a problem.

This is a cricket forum. I can share my views on whatever I like. Not gonna take classes on what to discuss and what not to.

You think my point is wrong, just spit some facts and we are good.

You can discuss all you want and i can call you out on that.

Basically India and Australia don't have a problem, so a Pakistani has a problem that why they don't have a problem.

And you want to know why they don't have a problem because you have a problem. Right?

It is the other way round. CA is disrespecting BCCI by hosting a test match on auction day. I mean who does that? We all want to see how much cash Pretty Zinta will splash on Pant or will KL Rahul do a home coming for RCB or will Nita Ambani hire 6th mentor for her side. Hosting a test match amidst such a pressure cooker scenario is highly disrespectful. Indian players should do a Eng 2021 and skip this game all together.

I think it you who did not like why I brought up this topic.

Yea.. this is not good. Generally players who do well against India get picked by IPL teams. Jamieson picked for hefty amount for his good performanec in Tests against India.

Why are you guys so triggered??

No . It's not a good question at all. And makes no sense to be honest. IPL is a domestic Indian tournament .

Has nothing to do with disrespecting Cricket Australia.

You can publish in every media outlet in Pakistan and get the PCB to nod on it and you will still not bother India or Australia.

And you know it.
Is it not being discussed in an Aussie media out let or a Pakistani media outlet as per the video in the OP?

As per Aaron Finch in the video "CA will be disappointed". So it's fair game to discuss what he said, instead of crying about Pakistan.

We know you are an unpaid BCCI spokesman/cheerleader but I wasn't aware you now offer your services to Australia too.

Ponting called the scheduling of the mega auction ‘the worst possible case scenario’.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan expressed his disagreement with the timing of the IPL auction, stating, "I don’t agree with the fact that they put the IPL auction in the middle of the first Test. I think it’s ridiculous. We’ve got a nine-day break in between the first and the second (Tests), so why place it there? Players are already under pressure during a Test match, and I don’t understand why they would want to shift the focus of that Test match to an IPL auction in Saudi Arabia,"

I think @cricketjoshila is the self appointed theekedar of acceptable discussions in cricket. He will come like a boogie man and enforce his judgement on what Pakistanis can comment or not.

Cummins won't be under any pressure as he was already retained. Travis head was also retained. Starc won't care much as he is already worth 150 crores. Maxwell doesn't play Tests. Warner has retired. Smith is a commentator for IPL now. Labu never gets picked. Lyon never plays the IPL. Green/Mitch Marsh are the only too. Green injured. Not that big a deal for both team members.

I don't understand about people talking about pressure. What pressure? Life changing $$$$ is a good thing. No pressure, celebration time!

What's being discussed that BCCI is undermining CA?

Bcci undermined the border Gavaskar trophy by giving them a Whipping in Perth of all places which their current and future generations will never forget.

The likes of Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins and Lyon will forever be remembered as the trio who were involved in three consecutive test series defeats at home to India in their own conditions.

Can we stay on topic and not talk about ASHES vs BGT here, We do have a thread for that stuff.

No Personal remarks and trolling here.

Facts have already been shared. Why are the factual responses triggering such a defensive stance?

Look, I'm here to discuss cricket and share opinions. If you have specific facts that counter my points, let's hear them. But trying to police how I express my views isn't helpful. Let's stick to discussing the actual cricket rather than getting personal about who's being defensive."

Brother, I already tagged my first post that was purely factual that nullified the basis of your post. and I already called it a Non-story and move on.:)

BCCI/India always try to undermine others.

Other boards are too shortsighted to understand this. This has been the case for the past 20 years. That was how BCCI/India managed to hijack cricket completely.

So other boards are so dumb that they were fooled for 20 years straight?

If that's the case they deserve where they are

Then the first order of business is to clean house and redo the setup of all the other boards. Once all of that is done, go to the ICC, clean house, set things right, get them a backbone while at it.

Once all of that is done, have a go at BCCI. Then things will get somewhere. Otherwise, business as usual.

What other boards. No BD player has even been sold in the IPL. And yet you are getting rinsed currently.

Auction has nothing to do with the performances of players. Nonsensical thread

Naah, its far easier to blame the Indians :p

Cricket was lovely when it was being run by English gentlemen.

Cricket wasn't infected by overcommercialization and petty politcs back then.
Have already commented your "Uncle Tom" mentality, man!
Your little East Pakistan got the international status thanks to the efforts of BCCI against your white masters. Read up a bit once in a while, or maybe getting actual facts are banned in Canadian internet.

Bangladesh and Pakistan should part from the ICC and should play among each other like England and Australia used to do earlier. Eventually they can add others like sudan, libya etc

Now that's a genius idea!
I kinda blame Jagmohan Dalmiya for forcing the door open for Bangladesh into top tier cricket. Simply ruined the classy colonial aspects of cricket by bringing in East Pakistan.

The dates were announced long back if i recall. Almost all the cricket boards were aware of this schedule. If i am right BGT was announced in March 26th, 2024. IPL auction schedule announced even before that. It is typical that IPl auction happens somewhere in November and December. With 5 test series it was going to coincide with one match or the other. May be these commies were not upto speed. Think about the logistics involved in an auction. How many people have to come from various parts of the world.

BGT is going on when Women's BBL is conducted by Acb . Men's bbl will start soon and will run through out December .so it's business as usual for any cricket board apart from few salty fans

If anything they embraced this as a nice little side show. I am glad we don't say "we are undermining zimbabwe cricket board" as they have a marquee series against Pakistan.

BCCI is like a selfish/self-centred princess in a hot pink dress.

Always "me, me, me, me". Doesn't think about the sport as a whole.

Absolutely, it was utterly stupid to get test status and full member status for Bangladesh against the white masters.
The sport as a whole went into total downward spiral since 1999.
