i think there are two issues here:
- the weight of your performance in domestic cricket should be a factor (not the only factor, of course). So if discarded players do well in domestic, selectors have to set a criteria of why they should be allowed back in again to the team, unless the selectors have the confidence to say "no, you are done no more chances for you, no matter how well you do" For that to happen, the domestic teams need to drop these players MARK RAMPRAKASH
- sometimes international "ttfs" do well in domestic because they are used to the pressures of international cricket: meaning they are potentially better than domestic, but short of international standard. Perhaps the selectors need to give more weight to domestic uncapped players vs. the international players.
