[VIDEO] Opening ceremony of the revamped National Stadium Karachi

The work at Karachi has been really slow.
However the colour combo of light blue and dark blue really suits Karachi.
Hopefully they start work asap on the rest of the stadiums after CT25
Once its fully rebuilt It will be bring back the crowd.

Currently its got worst looking stands
I dont know which genius came up with an idea of multi colour chairs in the stand 🤔

NSK is a mess. The project manager there messed up by placing two screens infront of the fans lol.

National Stadium Karachi Ready for Champions Trophy

Following Gaddafi Stadium, National Stadium Karachi is now fully prepared to host the Champions Trophy.

Under PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s direct supervision and the tireless efforts of workers, the renovation was completed in just 120 days. The grand reopening will take place tomorrow evening with a vibrant ceremony featuring performances by renowned singers Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, and Sahir Ali Bagga. The event will also include a spectacular fireworks and light show, with free entry for the public.

Renovation work began on September 28, and by January 31, the transformation was complete. The pavilion building was entirely rebuilt, new seats were installed in all enclosures, and modern LED lights, upgraded score screens, and grills were added. For a better viewing experience, barriers obstructing sightlines have been removed.

Additional enhancements include refurbished hospitality boxes, a newly constructed ring road, and a pedestrian bridge.

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his appreciation for the hardworking laborers who contributed to the project, acknowledging the dedication of FWO, NESPAK, contractors, and the entire PCB team. He emphasized that world-class facilities have been introduced for both players and fans, ensuring top-tier amenities for the teams participating in the Champions Trophy.

Newly-look National Bank Stadium to be unveiled today

Karachi, 11 February 2025:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is proud to announce that the brand-new pavilion at the University Road End of the National Bank Stadium will be officially opened later today. This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in the stadium's history, reinforcing PCB’s commitment to enhancing cricket infrastructure in Pakistan.

The newly-constructed pavilion features world-class dressing rooms for players and match officials, complemented by high-quality hospitality rooms. Developed in a record time of around four months, the facility underscores the dedication and efficiency behind the stadium’s rapid transformation.

In addition to the new pavilion, several major upgrades have been completed at the National Bank Stadium to enhance both the playing and viewing experience. These include the installation of 350 LED lights to improve broadcast quality, the fixing of two digital replay screens and the addition of over 5,000 new chairs to enhance spectator comfort.

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi personally oversaw the renovation efforts, making multiple visits to the stadium to ensure the timely completion of the work. Nearly 5,000 dedicated workers contributed tirelessly to transforming the stadium, ensuring its full operational readiness for the upcoming tri-series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

PCB Chair Mohsin Naqvi:

“This upgrade is a testament to our vision of elevating Pakistan’s cricketing venues to international standards. The National Bank Stadium, which last saw a major overhaul during the 1996 World Cup, now stands as a modern, world-class facility that will not only host domestic and international matches but also provide players and fans with a top-tier experience.

“The incredible workforce behind this transformation deserves immense appreciation. Their hard work has made it possible for us to proudly present the National Bank Stadium as a world-class venue, ready to welcome top cricketing action.”

To honor their commitment, Mohsin Naqvi will host a reception for the workers at 5:30pm today at the National Bank Stadium.

The National Bank Stadium has a proud history of producing thrilling matches, while the city of Karachi has given Pakistan some of its finest cricketers. With this enhanced, spectator-friendly venue, the hope is that more young talent will emerge and go on to represent Pakistan on the international stage.

Additionally, the PCB encourages parents to bring their young children to matches at the National Bank Stadium, fostering a love for cricket from an early age. By exposing the next generation to high-quality cricket in an electric atmosphere, Pakistan can continue to produce world-class cricketers for years to come.

This latest transformation aligns with PCB’s broader strategy of modernising cricket venues across the country, ensuring that Pakistan remains a premier destination for international cricket.

both project are incomplete, and they are only revamped, why wasting players money for inauguration concert that too with free tickets. These artist tickets in their own concerts are not less than 2000 rs. PCB just wasting money of players

WHat the hell, the same 15 namonay decided to wear the same jersey again in Karachi now? :yk

The issues with the stadium were mostly related to the Traffic, Parking. People have to park their cars very far away in very unhappening places and Karachites are not willing to go through this level of Khuari for games that frequently. This is what the PCB needs to resolve foremost in addition to the crowd viewing arrangements.

After toiling non stop working 24/7 for 4 months, your only reward is one high class meal for a few hours?

Doesn't sound fair to me. Paying a rewarding bonus would have been better
Shahbaz was talking about taking 1500 workers who worked on gaddafi stadium on a trip to London. I can't see that happening though

Lets not forget Construction jobs in the West are among the highly insured in the West, these workers took on a great deal of personal risk to their lives when the safety standards in third world countries in Pakistan are already low and not taken seriously.

This is a Pakistani tradition. When a house is made, so every time a floors roofing is completed a meal is distributed amongest everyone. So if its a 3 story house, every roof or ceiling cement that is done, the project sponsor treats all the workers with food.

So this is tradition. They could had just give one daig in the stadium and thats it. The fact that the workers were invited as guest and the chairman sat with them had food is a good thing.

Congratulations to Pakistani cricket fans and Karachiites on getting the job finished just in time for the Champions Trophy. The stadium has improved after renovations and once filled to capacity it will make for a great viewing experience. Good luck to all and onus is on people to go out there to support their city by purchasing the tickets

Apparently they used bamboo sticks for the scaffolding.

What is with this circus board and staging these 3rd class opening ceremonies?

Why couldn't they put that money into building up good pitches for ODI cricket rather than making 350+ scoring ones with only spinners bringing the bowling sides into the game.

It is a way of honouring the workers and appreciating their efforts. No harm in it..not everything needs to be reduced to balance sheet transactions brother.

Giving them poor workers a good wage and steady reward would be much better as they've just tirelessly worked for the last few months that too 24×7 at times with 20 hour shifts without going home.

PCB along with this government want to showcase as if they've achieved some historic feat when in reality it's nothing substantial.

In pakistani construction, labor never goes home.

You make makeshift housing there and have to live at the premise of the construction till your part is complete

PCB isnt required to give rewards to each worker.

Caught 4 minutes of the game on FanCode only to see the revamped stadium. Outfield looks a LOT better than what I remember of Pakistani grounds - patchy and dusty. It's green and even.

But other than that what exactly was renovated? Lmao, I think this stadium looks the same from what I recall in that IND-PK match in 2004 where Inzamam hit a century in a losing cause. Literally nothing looks different except the greener outfield.
