I remember you being rather very vocal and angry here on PP during that time.
If you were physically part of that mob , then that my friend does reflect poorly . . I don't think we as a civilized society should still resort to such behavior , this coming from a state which has mobs/protests and related shutdowns every alternate day of the week.

Queen Padmini and all the other consorts of Raja Ratan Singh, along with wives of army men and every woman present in the state, walked down the secret tunnel passage linked from Chittor fort into the Jauhar Kund.
They wailed for their men, and san praises of their bravery and together they jumped into the fire it; Queen Padmini was the first one to jump into the Jauhar Kund. Entire palace was echoed by their cries. By the time, Khiliji and his army entered the fort to claim their authority on royal treasure and women; they were welcomed by eerie sounds coming from the Jauhar Kund.
Reminds me of that scene from Kamal Haasans "Indian" (Hindustani in Hindi ).
Wasn't the greatest of times back then to be women, rape/sexual slavery was pretty much THE preferred method of dealing with women of captured territories...

Johar and Shaka - When the defeat was imminent and there was no way out ,Rajput Men would perform Shaka and women Jauhar. Shaka meant men going full Jon Snow on the invading army with the sole purpose of dying as the chances of win were really really slim.They would pray in the temple alongside their wives , will have their Artis done by their women , eat paan and wear kesariya turban (saffron) and would go full throttle on the enemy.No Rajput ever returned alive back from Shaka.After that all the women would gather at one place and self immolate themselves so as to preserve their honour since raping of subjguated population was pretty norm back then.There have been several instances of recorded jauhar in Rajasthan.
Sati is bit different.It involved a widow burning herself on her husband's pyre after he died due to any cause .
He has been pretty mediocre of late.Age is catching up with him.Fan was okayish at best.His greatest ever movie has been Swades imo.Now that was one heck of a performance.

2. I do not desire to change facts.
All this legend is based on a poem, which was written (by muslim) ~200 years after the death of Alauddin.
Ample "evidence", that's why historians are in agreement that this is piece of human imagination.
1) What does the fact that the poem was written by a muslim got to do with it?
2) All these stories are just stories...including Anarkali, Jodha Akbar, Heer Ranjha, Soni Mahiwal, Mirza Sahiba, etc. It's okay...I agree we should not interpret this movie as historically accurate, but these are popular romance stories, its okay for bollywood to make a film on them.

Yes that is very clear. The premise is that the motive behind the attack on Chittor was to capture the queen.

IsLamictal studies and pakistan studies are two compulsory subjects upto undergrad.
In my time, focus was on following historical topics:
Little bit about mahanjo daro and Harapa.
Life of prophet of islam (only good events are taught )
Muhammad bin Qasim (712AD) attack on Sind (from winner's perspective)
Mahmood Ghaznavi (998 AD)
Haider Ali, Tipu and Sirajuddollah (focus on traitors)
Freedom/independence moment (sir syed, creation of muslim league, ali brothers, allama iqbal, MAJinnah, etc.etc.)
The courses were mainly designed to brain wash people.
That's really sad tbh. Our land have such a rich history and still.....
I am surprised to see Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan there. Mysore kingdom had no relation with the present day Pakistan then. Atleast Sirajudaulla had a kingdom which was part of former East Pakistan/Bangladesh.
They don't teach you about the Moplahs/Mappilas ? They are the oldest muslim community of the subcontinent .. Thought they would teach you something like that .
I grew up in the UK. The only history that you are taught here is The Tudors 5 times over, and then WW1 and WW2 forever.
Indian History was an optional module which focused on India's push for independence.
'The Raj' is generally romanticised as a period of great governance for India - all the loot, exploitation and famine is kind of overlooked.
The view of the average person in the UK is that Britain gave India railways, united it from a bunch of small kingdoms to what it is now, and also gave the gifts of cricket and the English language.
Part of the 'Pakistan Story' is to promote how the North West is different from the rest of the SC, and hence independence was a natural conclusion, rather than an arbitrary line drawn across a map.
So there is no interest in talking about natural Muslim communities emerging in other parts of the SC - it does not fit the narrative.

What is there to be taught about moplahs? They never participated in the freedom struggle. Were mercenaries and except killing their brothers they did nothing of note in history.

What an epic this is going to be! As a huge fan of Ranveer and of a revived Shahid Kapoor post 'Haider' (2014), I´m eagerly waiting for this. I hope it´ll be shown at the cinema here. The star-cast is mouthwatering!
I talked about them from the islamic history perspective. Since promoting and educating the history of Islam in the SC would be a major aim of the Pakistani school establishment , the would surely have taught them about the first muslim community in the SC which was established while the prophet was alive. !
