I remember @topsin was chirping and mentioning me after Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe. He noted how I was getting all smug after Pakistan's 10 wicket win against England and how it came to bit me back me in the backside.

Agreed brother. I'm glad there are posters like you here to fight against the rabid toxicity that so many posters here showcase. It's moments like these that truly make it worth it. Here's hoping we can bury the ghosts of 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2021 in the dust and bring the trophy home.

OK - so can we have none of this "Pakistan don't deserve to be in the semis" nonsense. It is irritating. It is factually false. It is annoying.

YES - Pakistan did need results go their way. BUT.....

1. People are conveniently forgetting that Pakistan were EXTREMELY unlucky during the 2 last ball defeats to India and Zimbabwe.
2. Every team has lost games in this tournament and they have lost a lot more convincingly then Pakistan.
3. Should South Africa have gone through, would anyone have been saying how much they owe to Zimbabwe for beating Pakistan? Would they have remembered that Zimbabwe were comfortable beaten by Netherlands? Would they have remembered that the Netherlands team is full of seasoned Sout Africans/Aussies arnd it was a surprise but not a miracle that they beat Saffers?
4. Fact : Pakistann 6 points Saffers 5 Points.
5. And for the jokers going on about Shakib dismissal being the cause of BD defeat - PLEASE!! This guy has been average in this tournament. Pakistan played at 40% and still won easily against BD. So don't go down that road!

PS: What a tournament.

Woke up Sunday expecting us to go through the motions and exit dismally v Saffers.

Instead saw Netherlands had won and Pakistan steam rollering South Africa to kingdom come! Get in!!

Oh one more point for the "Pakistan fluked it" brigade.
If Saffers had beaten Zimmies, they would have had 6 points.

I know that NRR then comes in. But its well known that the true measure if 2 sides are equal is the head to head result - and Pak demolished SA.

Listen - let's be grateful to the Almighty because of course luck favoured Pakistan.

But do not confuse 'luck' and 'not derserving' to go through.

They were VERY lucky.
But they VERY MUCH deserved it due to the 2 close (unlucky?) last ball defeats. And because they came back from the brink and fought for their lives.

Why look at facts when twisting the facts is more of a story line?

India got pummelled by Pakistan and South Africa. A great Kohli knock and hari kari by Pakistan gifted them a last ball win. BD were knocking them all over the park before the rain break and they squeaked through by 5 runs against a team Pak beat comfortably in a quarter final when playing way below their best.

Let's forget Netherlands beat Zimbabwe easily and Zimbabwe had a last ball win v Pak

Let's forget Pakistan schooled South Africa who had made India look average.

No - lets be negative and join the Pak fluked it brigade.

India are a great team and the favourites and likely winners. But don't deny Pakistan deserve to be here.
