[VIDEO/PICTURES] "I am ready to go again with my bowling" : Naseem Shah

He has a stronger case than Hasnain to be fast tracked. Hasnain was picked on potential and 1 or 2 performances. Naseem shah has potential and consistent performances. He picked up 6wickets on first class debut last year.

Not playing against Kuwait today - maybe being rested.

Rested today versus Kuwait.

Apparently the Kuwait team are very young. Maybe better for their safety Naseem didn't play.

Waqar loves pace...

It would be a big boost for Naseem's career if he comes under the consideration for national team with Waqar as bowling coach.

Waqar is very excited about him. Could be fast tracked in to the system.

If he doesn't get many FC games this year then the PSL will be very crucial for him.

Doesn't seem to fazing batsmen from top teams at the U19 level. He may not have as much of an impact pace-wise as Pak fans hope?

Pakistan should just persuade Amir and Wahab to reconsider, if not we may see a repeat of the recent England ODI series where all the fans lost patience with SSA.

good times for likes of Naseem Shah, Musa Khan, Muhammad Hussnain, Harris Rauf, SSA ... Waqar shld improve their skill set ....

Included in C Punjab XI for Round 2 of QEA

Maybe there's a hint here, Australia is in the next few months.

Are you sure? He was brilliant against SA and Afghanistan and was good gainst India.

It's not just his pace, but his ability to swing the ball, yorkers and bouncers too. He is very aggressive.

Took 3 wickets in the first innings - Balochistan vs Central Punjab, Round 3 of QEA

If he performs extraordinarily in the upcoming qea matches, he could get a call up for aus series.

Keep in mind that atleast five fast bowlers will be taken to Australia. Abbas and shaheen are two. Whereas amir and wahab are retired. Sohail khan and rahat are lost in the wilderness.

Don't think it's gonna take long for Naseem to make it to the national team. He's developed really good control.

Just seen a video of Naseem's bowling versus Balochistan.

Very impressive.

We will add here.

Naseem looks like the guy who will spearhead Pakistan's bowling.

Amir has had that title for the past 3 years and I don't think any of our current bowlers (including Shaheen) are better than him.

Naseem Shah speaking to PakPassion

"Bowlers from last year who bowled well with Duke balls are not doing that well, as you have to put a lot of effort with the Kookaburra ball and slam it hard to get some good results"

"Also the wickets this year are different - I hear that wickets were greener last year"

"Waqar Younis called me and said that I need to perform well in the QeA and to prepare myself for the series against Australia"

"I have bowled long spells here so will do well if given the chance"

High Hopes from This young lad. Is more mature bowler among Hasnain, Musa and Haris. Should be selected for Australia tour.

I have my hopes that he can solve pakistan newball woes especially in test .his action is so smooth and ideal for out swingers

He had bowled 70+ overs in quaid azam trophy which does suggest he is fit and can play international cricket .Let's see

he will be selected in t 20 cup next week so should get an idea of him under pressure

He has made a bright start to QEA trophy.

But, think he should at least play a whole season before selection- we have to remember he is inexperienced and it is better to get a larger sample size.

There is no need to rush.

So he has an 80% chance of going to Australia I reckon. But the final decision is Misbah’s and it will be difficult to convince him to pick a 17 year old fast bowler.

He's actually 16, so if he debuts against Aus this year he will be 16, probably one of the youngest, if not the youngest fast bowler to play test cricket or international cricket.

Knowing Misbah, he would probably take safe Rahat than attempt to take a 16/17 year old upcoming fast bowler.

I think Waqar atleast have some selection authority when it comes to bowling, i think this lad going to Australia

Sorry you have wait at least 5-7 years. 17 is too young for current management. When you will be 24 you have chances

Im going off economy rates.seems like naseem shah bowls less loose deliveries and at this stage has better control than hasnain.

In addition to the naked eye, looks like he is 5-7 kph quicker as well.

Waqar should be in charge of selecting the pacers. Misbah has shown us over the years that he has the worst eye for pacers. If Waqar is responsible for fast bowling selections we could see Naseem and Sameen going to Aussie.

I am not convinced. He has only played 4 FC games. He is yet to play List-A and T20 games. Let him play at least 15 all format games before considering him. Do not do a Hasnain to him. Shaheen got lucky, but not everyone can be Shaheen. I would not consider him for the Australia tour at all. I would opt for Sadaf or Sameen Gul instead, both have ideal heights, which can be handy on Australian pitches.

But Sadaf’s got no pace and has already been exposed a bit on better surfaces this season.

Please explain your choice of Sadaf. He has 2 wickets this whole tournement, looks like he is going to faint after a day of bowling, has actually fainted after a failed yoyo test, bowls below 130kph, can't field or bat.

Selected for Central Punjab for National T20 as well.

Shaheen got lucky no doubt but he has hardly set the world on fire..these youngsters need time but looking at these dead wickets being produced will hardly help

First of all these are not dead wickets , they are more tilted towards batting yes but there is enough grass on it to be exploited by quality quick pacers , these type of pitches will definitely going to help finding more 140k pacers as only the true pacers are shining under these conditions.

Naseem , Ehsan , Musa , Rauf and Sameen all can clock 140k+ and they all are performing handsomely in these so called dead pitches.

Hasnain has been disappointing in inernational cricket so far, he is not ready yet and should get back to domestic to gain experiense like the names you mentioned are doing.

Hasnain definitely doesn't deserve to play again for Pak before atleast one full season under his belt , However he can remain with the team under Waqar wings.

The grass isn't actually helping the pacers. You can tell it is extremely dry underneath, the grass is just there to hold the pitch together to prevent it from crumbling and cracking very easily. It may be adding a slight amount of bounce but not much and doesn't cause the ball to move laterally as the pitch is dry, hard and flat underneath.
So to get wickets you either have to be very quick, very accurate or very lucky (bad shot) or combination of all 3.

I would say 50%.

Waqar probably wants to pick him, depends what the others such as Misbah say.

Amir was 17 , Aaqib Javed was 17, Waqar Younis was 17:wy, Wasim Akram was 18, when made their test debut.

Doesn't hide the fact you're putting pressure on his shoulders. Not every human has similar characteristics as another.

Let's just calm down.

Australia probably haven't seen much of him. He can be the dark horse.

A great prospect.

Even our best have been whacked in Aus, not a great idea to take him at this stage, unless waqar wants to work with him on a one to one basis

Invited for the Australia fast-bowler's camp to work with Waqar

Bowlers have limited bullets in their arm before injuries arise or their pace declines. If the bowler has pace at an early age, best to make use of it Internationally than wasting that arm away in domestics.

This could be a make or break for him tour of Australia - he does well here and he will be undroppable - failure could mean doubts about his abilities.

“Yes it’s a brave and bold decision to select the likes of Musa and Naseem, but we know that their fresh and attacking approach will give us something different. The Australian wickets will give them the opportunity to express themselves, gain valuable experience and it will help us to take 20 wickets to win the Tests" : Misbah-ul-Haq after announcement of squad bound for Australia

From PCB:

Musa will have teenager Naseem for company in Australia during the Tests, the right-armer Naseem has donned the national colours in age-group cricket at the U16, U19 and Emerging levels, while his sharp bouncers made batsmen duck for cover at the domestic level also.

Naseem, first made an impression in the Pepsi Stars U16 One-Day tournament, Naseem took four wickets in his first match, the youngster hasn’t looked back since and has made his presence felt at all levels. Naseem took three wickets in two T20 matches against Australia u16; he also prospered in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, taking six wickets in three matches.

In five first-class appearances, Naseem has taken 17 wickets; his best bowling figures in an innings are six for 59. In the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2019-20, Naseem has collected nine wickets in three appearances. Naseem and Musa’s inclusion are courageous decisions by the Misbah-ul-Haq-led selection committee, and are aimed at breathing fire in Pakistan’s pace attack on the bouncy Australian tracks.

Naseem Shah said: “Inclusion in the national team is the realisation of a dream; all professional cricketers aspire the same and work hard day-in-day-out. Bowling coach Waqar Younis has asked me to bowl on my strengths and that is exactly what I will aim to do in Australia

“I have always been inspired and encouraged by watching videos of Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar. I aim to make an impression with my speed and swing if given a chance in the Tests against Australia.

“The conditions in Australia help fast-bowlers, my aim is to make maximum use of the conditions and give a tough time to the home side, playing on hard and bouncy pitches will be a great experience and a learning curve for me.”

Misbah speaking to media in Australia

On Naseem Shah:

“He is bowling well in the 4-Day competition – good thing about him is that he is bowling well in all spells; he’s played three games and will be playing 4th one also – in all spells he is bowling quick and with good control

So we are looking forward to him bowling here where conditions will give him assistance in getting pace and bounce from these wickets

Everyone is excited in Pakistan about him and are waiting to see how he bowls in Australia

There is always a surprise package [in selecting someone like Naseem] but you really need to bowl well in Australian conditions – only pace is not going to favour you but the good thing about him is that he can bowl in good areas; In the U19 level he bowled really well with the new ball and the old ball too; He is doing that in FC also

We are looking forward that if he can put the ball in the right areas with that pace then he could be a surprise package

Naseem Shah, accounted for the wickets of Khurram Manzoor (10), Abid Ali (three) and Omair Bin Yousaf (33) for Central Punjab vs Sindh in Round 5, Day 2

Seems like the domestic players fear him now. Also saw a tweat of an U19 cricketer from another country, and he wasn't looking forward to face him in the U19 World Cup next year, he maybe in luck given that Naseem is now playing international cricket.

Naseem's 3 wickets vs Sindh yesterday.

Some brilliant deliveries. First one came in, second one went away.

Do you know at what speed is he bowling in the QEA TROPHY?
Altought there isn't speed guns, batsman should be able to approximately judge his speed.
Some of his deliveries look really quick to me.

At least 140kph I reckon. He hits the deck hard, and that will be important in Australia.

Mostly probably in 135 to 140 range in longer format.
i don't think he will be express in longer format

The way he is beating batsmen for pace it looks like 140-145. If he can go into the high 140s that will be good. Rahat Ali is 135 and he doesn't beat batsmen for pace.

Yet some are still questioning his selection and saying he is too short. 5 wickets on a dead track is no small thing. And Sindh are only 6 down.

He has 6 for 78 and Sindh bowled out for 252 according to twitter feed
